Blessings From Heaven: The Secret Of The Tree Upon The Hill

Hinata Hyuuga wasn't immune to the whispers and murmurs that came from the villagers they passed. They'd seen significant change in the girl and very quickly. She walked tall, never looking at the ground unless she was very deep in thought and walked with an air of confidence that made people greet her as formally as they possibly could, though, the rumors whether or not she were pregnant was still up in the air for most people, but, there was something very different about her today: she was adorned in a black mini-dress, black sandals and carrying a large bouquet of white lilies. Her long hair was braided all the way down to her spine, held by a black ribbon at the end. Standing talk and walking beside her was her famous and infamous husband, Naruto Uzamaki. Just as she, he was adorned in all black, however, it was in the form of a black, short-sleeved blouse and black pants with black sandals and in the crook of his arms were another bouquet of lilies. As they walked past the marketplace, Kurenai was walking with Seiko Aburume, Shino's mother, who whispered,

"What happened? Did someone die?"

Kurenai sighed a little.

"It's the first official day of Spring in Konohagakure."

"Is it now? But why...does everyone look as if they are about to attend a funeral?" Seiko asked.

Kurenai sighed sadly, looking at Hinata, who seemed very surprised when she and Naruto were joined by Neji, who was adorned in a black kimono and TenTen who was wearing a short, black, Chinese-styled dress. Neji carried lilies in his arms and greeted Hinata and Naruto with a nod before they continued to walk together. Kurenai and Seiko watched as not even five minutes later, they were joined by Sakura and Sasuke: Sakura dressed in a black, kimono-like dress and Sasuke dressed in a pair of black pants and just a black shirt. In his arms, Sasuke carried lilies as well.

"Seiko-Chan, do you know why only Neji, Naruto, Hinata and Sasuke are carrying lilies? Do you know what day it is?" Kurenai asked.

"Is it that time of the year already?" A familiar voice sighed.

Kurenai and Seiko saw Tsunade walking towards them, looking somewhat meloncholy.

"I normally see them all go separately, but this year, what with all that's happened, I guess they've all decided to go together." she continued.

Kurenai looked at Seiko and sighed with a sad smile.

"Sasuke was four when it happened, Hinata-Chan was a year old, Neji was six and Naruto-Kun was only three, yet, the night Kyuubi was sealed in him, he was still a screamy little baby of maybe three That's the night the Fourth died and then it happened to Naruto again when he was six. Though it happened at different points in their lives, the day remains the same. Seiko-San,"

Kurenai sighed once more.

"This is the day that they lost their family."

Seiko's eyes widened and a sadness gripped her heart. Tsunade sighed a little herself.

"Naruto lost his father and his mother, Neji lost his father and then his mother, Sasuke lost his entire clan and Hinata lost her mother. This is why I have always said, even if the reasoning was sad, Neji, Naruto and Sasuke were the same: They knew the loneliness of not having a mother or father, while Hinata-Chan had to stand by and watch her father have Hanabi-Chan, her younger sister, with another woman of the Hyuuga clan. It is the first day of spring, officially, in Konoha, but...for those four, it is also the saddest day of their lives."

"Is it so sad, Tsunade-San?" Kurenai asked.

Seiko and Tsunade looked at Kurenai as she continued to look at her best pupil and daughter-figure lead the small group of six.

"In their loss, they have gained so much...With many tears and hardships, but...they have gained and grown, yet unlike most children who lose their parents, those four have never missed going to their graves. They still thank their parents for life and sending someone to love them in their place. The Fourth, Minato, Naruto's father, gave Naruto to Kakashi, Jiraya and the Third Hokage to care for. Neji was given the one person to pay attention to him and encourage him: TenTen. Sasuke, though he wasn't aware of it, was given Sakura and Naruto. Hinata-Chan...was given Naruto-Kun and myself. Do you see? Those who have passed have left something behind for their children to find. And now..."

She watched as Naruto took Hinata's hand before they disappeared out of sight.

"...Hinata's mother, Shioriko, and Minato, Naruto's father...have given Naruto and Hinata their greatest blessing: A child."

Hinata and her friends soon reached the quiet, uncultivated part of the Konoha which was nothing more than a large, rolling field marked with headstones, some worn, some new, some seeming untouched by time. They reached the entrance and Hinata could feel a swift breeze cut through her, almost cutting through her soul, yet with a gentleness. Hinata looked at her friends.

"Let us pay our respects to your family first, Uchiha-San." Hinata nodded.

Without another word, Sasuke led them to a larger part of the cemetary where his clan had been buried. He kneeled in front of two, main graves, connected. He began cleaning it off and sighed a little, revealing the words of which Sakura read,

"May The Spirits Guide You: Uchiha Fugaku,-Father, Uchiha Sasumi-Mother. Oh, Sasuke-Kun..."

Sakura looked at Sasuke as he kneeled down. Everyone else began praying, but Sakura was more than surprised when Sasuke yanked her to her knees and frowned with a small blush.

"Sakura-Chan...please...bow. I want to...formally introduce you to my parents."

Sakura tried not to cry as she closed her eyes and prayed.

"Uchiha-Otousaan, Uchiha-Okaasan...my name is Sakura Haruno. Please...thank you for giving me your son...he is very strong and...a wonderful person. Please, regard me kindly."

Sasuke continued to pray, fighting back tears. He let his parents know he'd avenged his clan, even at the life of his older brother, Itachi, understanding his reasoning for what he did, but never quite forgiving him. He promised to put a gravestone up for his brother next spring. Sakura suddenly heard a small soft sound, almost like a pinwheel. She looked around, but everyone's heads were still bowed in prayer. She looked up at Sasuke...only to see two, faint images standing behind him. A beautiful woman wearing a white kimono...she had long, jet-black hair and was by far, beautiful by anyone's standards. Sakura suddenly felt faint as she watched his father and mother place their hands on Sasuke's shoulders as he remained kneeling, completely oblivious to all that was happening. Sakura's eyes widened when she looked at Sasumi Uchiha glide over to her and kneel by her.

"Arigato...Sakura Haruno...thank you for helping my son..."

Tears began flowing down Sakura's face as she watched Sasumi stand up and disappear along with his father, Fugaku. It was then Sasuke released a sharp sigh and stood up, setting the flowers down. He looked at Sakura, eyes soft and soulful as he helped her stand. She embraced him, tears slowly fading away, before looking at all of his friends who looked at them, knowing they hadn't seen what she had. Sasuke nodded.

"Um...thank you, everyone. Who's are we visiting next?"

"The Fourth's." Naruto nodded.

Without another word, everyone followed Naruto to the very edge of the cemetary where only heroes of Konoha and Hokages were buried. They met with two guards standing in front of the various, personal shrines dedicated to them. Naruto stepped forward and sighed, bowing his head.

"I wish to see my father."

Both guards nodded and let them pass. Every year, they noticed Naruto getting older and older, but time was slowly healing him. Naruto and his friends, who had never had reason to visit the Hokage's Cematery were in awe. Every single Hokage had their own shrine dedicated to them. They reached the fourth and final shrine, surrounded by beautiful sakuras fluttering around like pink snow. In front of the shrine read, "Namikaze Minato: The Best Shinobi Konoha Ever Produced".

"Naruto-Kun...why is your father's last name different?"

Naruto smiled a little.

"I took my mother's name when he passed away."

Naruto began walking forward and up the stairs, noticing his friends were still standing at the gravestone, looking at him. He extended his hand and looked at Hinata who, very nervously, walked over to him. They ascended the stairs to the shrine, sliding open the paper doors. The room still smelled sweet, as if incense had been recently lit. Hinata and Naruto approached the large shrine, lit with candles and decorated by fresh flowers. On the mantle sat a picture of Minato Namikaze: Fourth Hokage and hero of Konoha. Hinata felt a little overwhelmed, seeing the exact similarities in Naruto and his father, from his grin to his blue eyes and spiky blonde hair. Naruto sat the flowers down on the alter before they both kneeled and bowed their heads.

"Father...this is Hinata Hyuuga."

Hinata's eyes widened and she looked at Naruto who was still praying.

"She carries my child and bears the Uzamaki-Namikaze name. I understand I am young father...but I beg you...Help us in our battle with Hiashi and the Hyuuga family. I have a child I wish to protect....that Kyuubi wishes to protect as well. I beg you...help us and keep my wife and my child safe the way you did all you could to keep mom and me safe."

Maybe it was just the light, but Hinata could feel the warm growing warmer and warmer...She looked at the shrine her powder blue eyes widening in surprise and disbelief when she saw The Fourth casually sitting next to his picture, one leg crossed over the other. She rubbed her eyes, but he was still there. He smiled at her, his ghostly figure getting off the shrine and approaching Hinata. She bowed her entire body and Naruto looked at her, smiling. She must have respected his father a lot, he guessed, unaware of what she was seeing. He turned and continued to pray. From where Hinata was bowed, she saw the Fourth kneel down in front of her. As if his hand were warm flesh and blood, she could feel the tips of his fingers lift up her chin slowly. She looked at him, her eyes widening as she stared into his deep, blue eyes. He smiled at her and nearly fainted when he put his hand over his heart, bowing his head to HER. She didn't move when he placed his hand on her stomach, but smiled warmly, tears filling the corners of her eyes.

"Uzamaki-Sama...Arigato..." she whispered.

He stood up, walking over to Naruto and placing his hand on Naruto's head, ruffling his hair with a grin. Naruto seemed completely unaware of what was going on. Hinata reached her hand out to bring Naruto out of prayer and see what she was seeing, but she watched Minato bring his finger to his lips and wink. Hinata nodded and watched him return to the alter. He stood in front of Hinata and the still bowing Naruto. Hinata was in shock when Minato pulled his eyes down and blew a raspberry at her and grinned, which resulted in Hinata's loud, amused laughter which caught the attention of Naruto who'd looked at her like she had lost her mind. Hinata looked at Naruto, a huge blush on her face.

"G...Gomen ne...!"

She looked at the shrine and at Minato who grinned.

"Smile and laugh more, Hinata Hyuuga..."

He kneeled down, putting his hand to the side of her face, letting his fingertips lightly caress over her cheek as he pulled his hand away.

"You resemble the beautiful Shioriko Hyuuga."

Tears suddenly swarmed Hinata's eyes and she lowered her head. And with that, he disappeared. Hinata looked at Naruto and blushed horribly.

"I'm so sorry, Naruto-Kun! That was innapropriate of me...!"

"What was so funny?" he asked, standing as he helped her up, watching as she wiped away the tears from her face.

Hinata looked at the shrine as she saw Minato waving to them before disappearing for the second and final time. She took Naruto's hand with a smile.

"I want...our baby's life to be filled with love and laughter. Ours as well."

Naruto scratched the back of his head in confusion as they left the shrine, closing the doors. Hinata blushed once more, looking at all of her friends who were more than surprised when they'd heard her laugh.

"I'm not even gonna ask." Sasuke sighed.

"Sorry, everyone..." Hinata said, bowing.

As they descended the stairs, Neji looked at TenTen.

"I guess we'll go to mine next. Hinata-Chan, your mother is buried with the rest of the Hyuuga clan, isn't she?"

Hinata sadly shook her head with a smile.

"No...but we will visit hers last."

Everyone refrained from asking why as they walked back across the cemetary to the Hyuuga Clan section of the cemetary. They approached a small shrine with two headstones. TenTen wiped off the headstones and let Neji place the flowers while she lit a small incense in front of the mini-shrine. Neji bowed his head, Hinata and TenTen at his side as they bowed in front of the stones that read: "Hyuuga Hizashi" and "Hyuuga Akari". He kneeled down, praying.

"Okaasama, Outousama...please...my Uncle isn't very happy about Hinata-Chan's marriage to Naruto or my engagement to TenTen. Please...I only ask you make him see the error of his ways...and maybe, in the future..."

He blushed, looking as if he were strained to say this.

"...b...bless...TenTen-Chan...with the Hyuuga name..and a child that carries the Hyuuga name...free of the family's curse."

TenTen blushed horribly, but kept her head bowed, thinking of the idea of having a small boy running towards them with short, brown hair and those beautiful, Hyuuga eyes. In her daydream, she watched her child run towards two figures in the distance. TenTen's eyes widened in her daydream as she looked at a man who resembled Hiashi...but his eyes were much, much kinder. He smiled at the small child, petting his head and watched the child grab onto the white kimono of a beautiful woman, with short, black hair to her shoulders, pick up the child. TenTen felt as if she were paralyzed...even though it was just a daydream...but one she couldn't seem to open her eyes and awake into reality from.

"A...Akari Hyuuga-Sama...?" TenTen barely rasped.

Akari picked up the child and walked towards TenTen with Hizashi at her side. TenTen couldn't speak...couldn't move. Akari stood directly in front of her, handing the child to TenTen. With little hands extending to her, he giggled.

"Mommy...!"

"TenTen-Chan...I want him to grow up happy and free of fate's chains...I want him to love and protect his unborn cousin, Hikari Uzamaki..." Hizashi began.

Tears flowed down TenTen's face as she hesitantly accepted the child, feeling a pure, white warmth course through her body the second she cradled the child in her arms. She looked at Hizashi and Akari, feeling the warmth from the child. Akari stook a step backwards as they faded.

"Sun-Ce. It is a Chinese name standing for..." Akari smiled.

"One...who is destined to make his own destiny...a paradoxical name..." TenTen nodded.

Hizashi approached TenTen and she gasped as she realized she was able to see her friends once more. He looked at her and whispered,

"For our grandchild when he comes into this world, TenTen...give that child the name of Sun-Ce." Hizashi smiled.

They faded into a white light as TenTen held the child, tears spilling down her face. Hizashi, Akari and Sun-Ce faded at the same time Neji stood up, looking at her.

"TenTen...are you alright? I'm sorry...if this was too much."

"Neji-Kun...!"

She wrapped her arms around his neck as she stood up. Neji could feel her tears through his black kimono and hugged her, not sure what to make of the situation.

"TenTen-Chan...what's wrong?"

"I...I have a name for our child...Sun-Ce."

Hinata's eyes widened as she took a step forward.

"Sun-Ce...that's is translated into "Neji" in Japanese...!"

TenTen looked at Neji, her tears never ceasing as she put a gentle hand to the side of his face.

"Your parents loved you so much, Neji-Kun...they gave you a paradoxical name that in Chinese means..."One who is destined to make his own destiny". If you are Neji...let our child be Sun-Ce."

Neji hugged her and sighed, forcing back tears.

"Sun-Ce it is."

He wiped TenTen's tears away with the pads of his thumbs before looking at Hinata.

"Ready?"

"Hai...Neji-Niisama."

They left the graves, TenTen feeling...much better than before she had come, despite the fact she knew...her daydream...was no daydream. She realized the further they walked, the further away they got from where any Hyuuga was buried. They walked for atleast half an hour before reaching a small hill where a large, shady oak-tree stood and much to their surprise, a wooden plank swing hanging from a large branch. Hinata looked up, feeling the same breeze like a gentle caress, from when they first arrived in the cemetary. As they ascended the hill, Naruto stood by her side, seeing the gravestone, covered with ivy and surrounded by flowers. Sakura turned around. You could see the entire cemetary and even parts of konoha from the grave of Shioriko Natsuyuki.

"What a beautiful place to bury your mother, Hinata-Chan." Sakura smiled, looking at the setting sun.

"Wait...her last name is different." Neji noticed as he paid his respects.

Hinata nodded, kneeling and placing the flowers on her grave.

"My father never really loved my mother, yet I took my father's last name when she died. But my mother...oh, how she loved me."

Hinata stood up, walking over to the swing and sat down. She began swinging and sighed, feeling as if she were going back in time to when she was a little girl.

"My mother would always bring me here. This was her favorite spot in all of Konoha...all because of how it was most separated from the rest of the graves and there was space to roam and walk without disturbing other graves. She said she'd come here with her best friend, but she never really mentioned him all that much. She'd tell me stories and we'd roll down the hills together. But...she passed away and soon, I found myself sitting on this hill...all by myself. I always waited for my mom's friend to come...but he never did. Before Hizashi-Sama passed away, he built me a swing here, that way..."

She ceased swinging, sitting in the sillouette of the setting sun. Naruto could see tears slowly rolling down her face.

"...He said if I ever needed to speak with my mother, I could have a special place to sit...and it's what she wanted for me. My aunt, Akari-Sama...she planted flowers that would never die around the tree. One day, I asked my aunt and uncle...who was my mother's special friend and they both looked at me. My mother...was apparently in love with another man. He was married at the time, however and even had a child of his own. My aunt and uncle said this was their meeting spot and while what they did was shameful...my uncle Hizashi said he'd never seen a more purer love."

Tears cascaded down Hinata's face a little faster. TenTen looked at Hinata and Neji looked more surprised than ever.

"Is...is that why your mom...wasn't allowed to be buried in the Hyuuga area?"

"Hai. But I wouldn't want her moved from this spot because before she died, she told me that...she'd rather wait here for him...forever. My father never loved my mother, even though I was his real child. I wonder..."

A soft breeze sent Hinata's braided hair into the breeze as she looked at the sky turned orange by the setting sun.

"I wonder if he ever came for her..."

She jumped off the swing and smiled a little.

"But...I hold no grudges against my mother and I love her dearly. I am pregnant now. I want to share this spot with our son, Naruto-Kun...That way, if he's ever feeling lonely, he can come and swing and admire the view...and also, speak with his grandmother."

Naruto stood up, embracing Hinata.

"He will NEVER feel lonely, Hinata-Chan...because he has us. He will always have us."

They could hear the evening bells of konoha toll and Naruto looked at Hinata.

"Tomorrow is a big day. You'll only be making seventeen...but you have more than proved yourself to be a woman. I know your mother would be proud."

As everyone began descending down the hill, Hinata turned, looking over at her shoulder. From where Naruto was standing, she was standing in direct sunset light, her eyes soft and beautiful as she stood, half-turned looking at the swing. His blue eyes widened when he saw the swing slowly begin to move on it's own. He heard the giggling of a small child in the wind, yet Hinata seemed unable to hear anything as she continued to walk towards him.

"H...Hinata-Chan..."

"Hmm?"

He turned her around and her eyes widened. Sitting on the swing was a smaller version of Hinata, maybe only five years old...and running towards her was a smaller version of Naruto, maybe six or seven. Hinata shook her head.

"N...Naruto-Kun...! That's you...!"

He shook his head.

"No...look at the clothing their wearing. Plus...I never wore my hair down like that. It's always been spiked."

Hinata noticed the younger version of Naruto was dressed in a blue yukata, his short, blonde hair hanging down and combed down, while the younger version of herself was sitting on the swing, wearing a pink and white version of a child's kimono. Hinata's eyes widened, realizing her hair had been short ever since she was born, yet this version of her had long, beautiful hair. They watched the blonde boy wave and grin.

"Shioriko! Sorry! Did you wait long?"

Hinata's eyes widened.

"Sh...Shioriko...that's...my mother's name..." she said, shaking.

They watched as the beautiful, long, raven-haired Shioriko jumped down from the swing and giggled.

"No, Minato-Kun! I didn't!"

"How did you manage to get away from that BIG house, Shioriko-Chan?"

She giggled and blushed.

"I'd...I'd do anything to see Minato-Kun..."

Minato blushed, looking at her. The kids suddenly looked at them and ran towards them.

"Minato-Kun, look! This girl is gonna have a baby!"

Hinata blushed really bad, given she wasn't even showing yet. She watched the blonde boy grin.

"I bet he's gonna be really strong! Maybe even Hokage! I know I wanna be Hokage when I get older!" he looked at Shioriko.

"You always say that! C'mon! Let's go and play!"

"Okay!"

Naruto and Hinata watched, spellbound as Minato took Shioriko's hand and led her up the hill. The second they stepped into direct sunlight, upon reaching the top of the hill, the small girl turned into an extraordinary beauty who's long, black hair, separated into two pigtails that hung down her back, spiraling out at the end. She was wearing a very beautiful lavender kimono decorated with white flowers and butterflies. Her hand was locked with the now tall, extremely handsome blonde who was wearing a pair of black pants and a royal-blue kimono-top. His hair had changed, spiking a little, but those vibrant, blue eyes remained the same. He looked at Shioriko before looking at Naruto and Hinata who were in awe.

"Look, Shioriko-Chan...that girl is going to have a baby." He smiled softly.

"Think maybe he'll become Hokage, Minato-Kun?" she asked, smiling at Hinata.

Naruto felt his father's eyes peirce his very soul as he stared at them.

"Not before him. I bet that guy right there...he's gonna be Hokage first."

"Like father, like son." Shioriko smiled.

The two turned all the way around to face Naruto and Hinata.

"Your son, my daughter...they grow stronger every single day...And now, they will bring a child into this world come late winter." Shioriko whispered.

"May they...have the chance we never had..." Minato replied as he closed his eyes.

Both Hinata and Naruto's realities were rocked when they watched the great Hokage kiss the wife of Hiashi Hyuuga, one of the most beautiful women in all of Konohagakure. Upon breaking the kiss, Minato turned to Naruto who seemed all but frozen with fear. He watched his father walk towards him, placing his hands on his shaking shoulders.

"Grow well...protect this child...become Hokage."

Naruto stared at his father, lowering his head as he shook.

"O...Outousan...I won't ask what your relationship with Hinata's mother was...but did you love my mother?"

Minato looked at his son.

"As much...as one man could. But...despite the fact your mother loved you with all of her heart, I couldn't hide the fact...I was also in love with Shioriko Natsuyuki. Can you forgive me for that?"

Naruto looked at Hinata and Shioriko and grinned, even though tears were rolling down his face.

"I...I can't say no to you...But I promise...I'll surpass you, father."

Naruto wiped his tears away, trying to not to cry even more. When Minato placed his hands upon his shoulders, Naruto looked into the deep eyes of his father.

"I never expected any less of you, son." He smiled.

Naruto gasped as Minato stepped backwards. Naruto looked at his father, still shaking...but oddly calm by what was happening. Hinata blushed horribly, tears falling down her face as her mother kissed her forehead.

"Become a better mother than I was to you...my sweet, sweet Hinata."

"Okaachan...! You were a wonderful mother...! Please believe that! I love you, I always will!" Hinata nodded.

Shioriko smiled, looking at Minato. As they took each other's hands and headed up the hill, Shioriko laughed and smiled.

"I was waiting really long this time, Minato-Kun!"

He grinned sheepishly and smiled.

"You know I'll always come for you."

Hinata and Naruto watched as Minato clasped both of Shioriko's hands and smiled gently, kissing her forehead.

"Sorry I took so long."

"Forgiven. Hinata-Chan..." She said, looking at her daughter.

She smiled happily as if her heart was filled with joy.

"He finally came for me, Hinata-Chan...so don't worry. I'm so...so...happy...Be happy too, Hinata-Chan..."

Minato placed as soft kiss Shioriko's lips and left Naruto and Hinata to watch as they disappeared, becoming soft, cherry blossom petals and green leaves. The wind sent them towards Naruto and Hinata who both looked at the petals before they vanished into the wind forever. Naruto looked at Hinata who was still staring at the sky.

"Hinata-Chan..."

Hinata looked at Naruto thoughtfully, wondering if was going to chastise her or even maybe yell at her.

"Hai, Naruto-Kun?"

He took her hand and led her up to the swing. He sat her down and she gasped in surprise as he pushed her gently on the swing. Hinata's tears soon dried as she viewed the land of Konohagakure painted in the colors of sunset. They were still sitting upon the hill when the full moon arose, lighting Konoha in shadows. As they descended the hill, not having said a single word, Naruto took Hinata's hands at the bottom of the hill and looked up.

"I will do all I can to protect you and Hikaru, Hinata."

Hinata looked at her love and smiled with a nod.

"I know. Tomorrow, I will confront my father...I have prepared for this day, yet I feel...I feel stronger knowing you'll be with me."

They heard the wind blowing softly as he neared her, moving closer. Both of their eyelids got heavy as they stood in the moonlight.

"Hinata-Chan..."

"Hai, Naruto-Kun?" she blushed as he neared her lips.

He gave her a deep, soulful kiss and he whispered,

"Let's...become....happy. Just like they wanted us to."

"Hai..."

She leaned in, closing the distance between their lips. As the wind blew softly around them, locked in their kiss, they missed the figures standing above the hill, smiling at them before they vanished into a mix, pink cherry blossoms and green leaves, blowing away into the night.
