The beast awakens, best laid plans 2
Kakashi slept for the whole time Gai was gone. He woke up briefly and found his forehead protector and mask overheating him. He willed himself to keep them on, not wanting to tempt Gai (or himself) by his uncovered face... but after four times of being awoken from the heat, he had to pull them off. Once they were discarded, sleep came easily once more.
Returning a few hours later Gai was dragging several shopping bags. Setting them down in the kitchen he crept back into his bedroom to check up on Kakashi after brewing a fresh pot of tea.
Kakashi looked more at rest than Gai had previously seen in the man. One hand was curled up against the side of his face and his hair was sprawled out on the pillow around his head like a heavenly glow of silver. Even his perfect lips were parted just slightly as he breathed, slow and steady.
Not wanting to disturb the other ninja just yet Gai left him like that and began puttering around in the kitchen, putting away his shopping and preparing the medicine for Kakashi. Humming an uplifting melody he shrugged off his vest and replaced it with a light green apron in preparation for once again attempting to cook. Well heat up some soup he bought, but who cared.
Kakashi's dreams were curious ones tonight. Again, they were a vague repeating of today's events. Going to the memorial, the rain, meeting with Gai, but as he laid in bed in his dreams it felt as though there was someone with him, laying on his left side with arms around him as if to say 'it's okay, you'll be okay.'
And still, he dreamed.
Having for once managed not to risk life and limb through use of kitchen equipment Gai filled a bowl with the soup, added it to the tray he had placed the tea and the medicine on earlier and made his way with his goods back into his bedroom. Setting the tray down on the small bedside table next to the discarded mask and forehead protector he nudged Kakashi gently.
Kakashi's eyes slowly opened to look up at Gai, and for just a moment Kakashi seemed so vulnerable, so ... there. So much hurt and frailty laid there as he stared back at the strong ANBU partner. But then, as he awoke from sleep fully his eyes cleared and it was gone. He was back to being hundreds of miles away behind stone walls while still being right next to Gai. "Ah, food. Thanks."
"Yep, food. Once you've eaten the soup and taken your medicine, there's something sweet waiting in the kitchen." Not letting the change in Kakashi get to him Gai smiled, happy to be able to help his rival at least in some ways. Sitting down on the floor he reached out for his tea cup. "There's more tea as well, I'm sure you're thirsty."
“Ah, sure." Kakashi replied. In a way, he was upset that Gai remained cheerful and unphased. He wanted to ruffle the other man somehow, but Gai just remained being... a sweetheart. Which just made Kakashi feel guilty for snubbing Gai, but not guilty enough to have second thoughts. He wasn't hungry, but ate because Gai had already prepared the food. Otherwise, Kakashi remained silent and lost in his own thoughts.
Sipping at his tea Gai observed his eternal rival lost in his own thoughts as well. Unconsciously his free hand played with the seam of his apron tugging at the fabric before rolling it up and the straightening it again. Fidgeting had always been something Gai (and his former teachers) saw as a bad habit, but it was a necessary evil. All that youthful energy demanded an outlet in some shape or form. "I'll get you the parfait and a glass of orange juice". He finally broke the silence rising to his feet again
Kakashi gave Gai a sidelong glance, then set down his teacup after he drained that as well.
"No thank you." he said, quietly. "I'm not hungry." Gai's fidgeting had not gone unnoticed, though, and Kakashi suspected it was out of awkwardness at the situation. "...I think I'll just sleep some more." there, Gai had an easy out.
"But Tsunade-sama said you should drink as much as possible to avoid getting dehydrated." Gai protested. "I'll just get you the juice, ok?"
Kakashi laid back on the bed and turned so he was on his stomach now, able to hide his face against the pillows. "Fine." was his muffled answer. "Just leave it on the dresser."
Truth be told, he wasn't really sleepy, but pretending sleep was probably his best option.
The soft sound of Gai's bare feet retreated only to return a few moment later to finally come to a stop next to the bed. "Kakashi? If there's anything else you want or need just tell me ok? I'll be in the living room." Kakashi's host told him in a low voice in an effort not to disturb him should the silver haired ninja be asleep again already.
Kakashi waved a hand at Gai, dismissively. "Yeah, whatever." he said, giving the impression he wasn't really listening.
After all, if he resumed his 'hip and modern' attitude, then the break away should be no problem. For all Gai was strong, he didn't take the initiative in relations, and Kakashi expected no real protests from the other shinobi.
Feeling cold, he pulled the blankets around himself tighter, unaware he was sweating.
Growing concerned at the sweat he could see beading on Kakashi's neck Gai gently pressed his fingers against the exposed skin. It seemed the fever had finally kicked in. Moving away he opened the door to his closet and grabbed two more blankets that he spread over Kakashi's shivering form. "I'll be right back." he promised soothingly before hurrying into the kitchen to get a bowl of cold water and a small towel to cool his patient's head.
Kakashi welcomed the extra heat of the blankets and burrowed under them, his fever seemed to snowball, starting off small then rapidly gaining force. He just couldn't stay warm, the blankets were cold and not heating fast enough. ...Some body heat would probably help...
Well, just once more couldn't hurt, right?
Returning with the paraphernalia he had deemed necessary for the job at hand Gai quickly set to work wetting the towel and the wringing it out. "I need you to roll over again my rival." he coaxed while prodding the other man into movement.
Obediently, Kakashi rolled over. He did more than that, even. He pushed the covers down to his waist, looking up at Gai with his half-lidded bedroom eyes. "...Gai..." he managed a breathless moan. "...I could really use some body heat."
Gai tugged the sheets back up to Kakashi's chin and frowned. "You're boiling already. I doubt you need any more heat." Gently he pressed the towel to the flushed face of his rival wiping the sticky sweat of off his brow.
...wait, what? Was Kakashi seeing things right? Was Gai refusing him? He reached up to stroke the strong hand holding the cloth to his forehead. "I need your heat." he murmured, attempting to push the covers down again.
Growing even more worried at Kakashi's actions Gai pulled the towel away to once again check his temperature. If the fever had increased so drastically that Kakashi was hallucinating in the short time, he would need to take the other ANBU to the hospital. Tugging the sheets up once again he made sure to properly tuck the sick man in. "It's the fever Kakashi, just sleep a bit and you'll be fine before you know it." he tried to reassure his rival.
Kakashi's fever hadn't risen THAT significantly. It was still low enough that it could be dealt with easily at home instead of in a hospital.
For his part, Kakashi didn't know how much more blunt he could get. Oh, right, there was the direct route. "I want," he said, slowly, in hopes to boost Gai's understanding "To have sex. With you."
Blinking Gai regarded Kakashi with some degree of shock. "You're sick. This is hardly the time for sex at the moment." he refuted the bold statement. "You should rest, not strain yourself." As much a he protested Gai was well aware that Kakashi most likely would not accept his reasoning so he rapidly thought up plan B. Bundling the sick ninja up with all his blankets Gai lifted him with only a minor effort then lowered himself and his burden back onto the bed so that Kakashi rested against him still cocooned in the covers. "No complaints." he warned the other man before reaching for the towel once more and gently bathing his neck as well before repeating the process with his forehead again.
Kakashi just didn't know what to think. Gai had refused him. But why? They'd slept together before. Gai clearly liked it. What was to stop them now? Kakashi felt himself getting angry at the turn of events, at his wounded pride from being refused. Who did Gai think he was, anyway!?
The torrent of emotions was beneath the surface and unseen, though, as Kakashi quietly slipped back behind his tall stone walls, looking away from Gai and just letting the other man do what he would.
Sensing the tension Gai sighed unsure of what he had done wrong this time. "I simply want to help you, Kakashi." Again he dipped the towel into the water and wrung it out, placing it over the other's brow.
"Un." Kakashi only shrugged. "If it makes you feel better." he didn't feel like arguing or explaining. Explaining would be saying too much, and he did not want Gai to find out how much his pride had been injured by Gai's bumbling.
Shaking his head in frustration at Kakashi's stubborn attitude Gai continued in his self-appointed task of trying to cool the flushed face down. "It's really not about me feeling better." he muttered.
Kakashi didn't move, only spoke again. "Of course it is." he insisted.
Sitting up and depositing the blockheaded ninja on the mattress again Gai stared down at him. "I only wanted you to be healthy again, please excuse me for caring." Anger began to seep into his voice, at the pure stubbornness Kakashi displayed.
Kakashi shrugged again, unphased by Gai's movements or anger. "Whatever, just let me know when you're done so I can go."
Normally a man slow to anger Kakashi had managed to push all of Gai's buttons without any apparent effort. Clenching his lips Gai scowled at the other ninja. This all went back to him turning down Kakashi's demand for sex, he remembered. Fine then. If Kakashi wanted sex that badly Gai would give him what he asked for.
Having come to a conclusion Gai started to dig the silver haired ninja out of the covers he had wrapped him in before, his hands less then gentle. Finally having reached naked skin he reached for the by now familiar shaft and snarled "Shut up." before giving it a squeeze.
Kakashi bit his lip until it bled, refusing to cry out for Gai, to bend submissively under him. After all, that would probably only make Gai stop. Instead he decided to meet Gai's movements, moving his hands up to the broad chest and shoulders, pressing, rubbing, there would be bruises there tomorrow from his roughness.
Grabbing Kakashi's wrists Gai pinned the roaming hands to the sheets before lowering his head and in one swoop taking as much of Kakashi's shaft into his mouth as he could. This was after all what Kakashi had demanded, therefore it was only fair that Kakashi be the sole recipient, at least that was the reasoning the thoughts swirling chaotically through Gai's head came up with.
Kakashi continued to hold his bottom lip between his teeth as the coppery taste tinted his mouth. He wasn't sure if he wanted this or if he didn't, but for some reason he felt like he just couldn't lay back and take it. So he struggled against Gai's hold, twisting under him, trying everything to break free. Unfortunately, the fever had taken much of his strength, and Kakashi's attempts to break free were futile as he hardened inside Gai's mouth.
Needing his hands to take control of the bucking hips threatening to gag him with the growing arousal in his mouth Gai let Kakashi's wrists slip from his grasp. Looking up from his task he met the other man's eyes, his own burning with confused anger, a host of more gentle emotions having been shoved to the back. Bringing every trick to bear that he had learned in their short association Gai tormented the hot flesh resting between his lips.
With his wrists now free, Kakashi brought his hands to Gai's shoulders, attempting to push against him, push him away while his hips struggled against Gai's strong hands and hot mouth. Kakashi wasn't sure how, but seeing the anger in Gai's eyes only served to arouse him more. The idea of the normally gentle Gai giving in to the more primitive emotions, it was almost too much for Kakashi. He felt like he was going insane from the heat, and his skin was so hot it was almost like it was on fire.
Unmoved by Kakashi's weakening attempts to push him off Gai continued, hollowing his cheeks and bringing almost painful suction to bear on the sensitive organ while one hand burrowed further underneath the blankets until it discovered one of Kakashi's nipples. A dark smirk flashed over Gai's face, curling up the bruised lips wrapped tightly around his prize before he pinched the small nub.
Kakashi couldn't help himself, he had to cry out at the burning pleasure that ran through him, though there was more than just a subtle note of pain in there as well. It hurt. It hurt and he wanted it to hurt. It occurred to Kakashi's fevered mind that only madmen enjoy the pain inflicted upon them, but it felt right somehow to him. Like he deserved it, some kind of punishment for past misdeeds, that he didn't deserve sex where love was involved, only anger. Wetness - tears? - began to form at the corner of his eye. Just one, just the left. The eye that wasn't really his in the first place.
He continued to try and push Gai away before his arms drained of their strength - not terribly long - while his erection throbbed in Gai's mouth, on the verge of climaxing at any moment at this rate.
Gentling at the sight of Kakashi's tears Gai felt the ire of his anger dim, retreating back to the dark corner of his mind he usually avoided at all costs. Reaching out even further he used his fingertips to wipe away the tears. For a moment he contemplated pulling away in shame but the firm pressure of Kakashi's erection against his tongue told him how unnecessary cruel such a move would be. With care and affection replacing the boiling anger he once again turned to nursing Kakashi's arousal, intent on giving him his release quickly.
With his arms resting against Gai's shoulders, Kakashi instantly noticed the sudden change. Before he could say anything, or even think too much on it, his orgasm hit and he let out only a quiet, strangled cry before collapsing limply against the bed. From the force of his climax and the height of the fever, Kakashi almost felt like he was going to throw up at nausea from the room spinning. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on the solidity of the bed under him above all else as his fevered mind swam.
Wiping a hand over his mouth Gai mentally cursed himself while reaching for the wet towel. This was precisely why he had turned down Kakashi in the first place. Running the cool fabric over his rival's face and neck he tugged the rest of the blankets of and worriedly peered at the sick man.
Kakashi looked worse for the wear, at best. His jaw was slack as he gasped for breath, each one taking work to get out. He was sweating badly, and would surely dehydrate if he didn't get some liquids in him. Stranger still, though, he seemed... relaxed, almost. Kakashi only made a vague noise in the back of his throat at the touch of the wet towel, not having the strength to move.
Thankful for the orange juice he had brought with him earlier Gai propped Kakashi up against the pillows and pressed the cool glass against his lips. "You need to drink something." he urged, voice once more gentle. Dealing with all this would have to wait till later, once Kakashi was healthy again.
Kakashi almost choked at first, his muscles not entirely willing to respond to him yet -- in ANY way -- but within a few seconds he was able to drink some of the orange juice as he rested against the pillows.
Across his body and especially on his wrists, the splotches that would later become dark and sickly purple were already beginning to show.
Once he was satisfied with the amount of liquid Kakashi had taken Gai put the glass back on the table and squirmed out of the bed. Pushing all the blankets to one side he gently ran the wet towel over every inch of skin, only stopping to wet it again and continue in his efforts. After he was finished he pulled one of the blankets over the form of his rival to keep him from cooling out to much. Now finally he fled to the kitchen, taking the empty glass with him.
Kakashi was grateful for the ability to just lay back and rest at this point, hoping that his lip had stopped bleeding.
He would count this as a successful night.
Returning a few hours later Gai was dragging several shopping bags. Setting them down in the kitchen he crept back into his bedroom to check up on Kakashi after brewing a fresh pot of tea.
