Chapter 18

He watched the sun set from the sill of the window. She hadn't been released from the hospital yet but when she was, she was adamant about going to find her sister. Looking back to her prone form, he watched the rise and fall of her chest then looked over her small frame. So tiny, so young. She shouldn't have been a shinobi yet. Shouldn't have put her life on the line countless times. Shaking his head, he stared back out at the darkening sky. Over the last few hours he'd been alone with her. Sasuke had left without a word and eventually, the women had left along with Lee and he'd stayed. He didn't know what he was feeling now, for the child. he remembered it as being painful but he couldn't...feel it like he used too. It was as if the mechanism that worked emotions was permanently broken. He could remember then and through remembering, he could feel, in a way.

Itatchi had done him a favor but at that moment, he regretted his decision to leave. Emotions were weaknesses and now, he had none. But...looking back to the bed again, he wondered what it would be like to be a free spirit like her. Even as a child himself he'd never been completely free. Yes, she had burdens but they were nothing like his own.

As he watched the sun finally recede behind the Hokage mountain, he studied the faces of the four men who'd taken care of Konoha. They had started on Tsunade's face and amazingly, it looked like they'd just plastered a picture of her up there. he wondered if there were going to be mazes through her head as well as the other four. Closing his eyes, Naruto rested his head against the window sill. When a presence rippled around the room, he opened an eye slightly and looked. Sasuke was back. He had a pink fox in his hands and he laid it by Aito's side. her arm came up and clutched the animal and she rolled over, still staying asleep. Sasuke took the chair next to the bed and steepled his hands, watching his daughter sleep. He looked out of it, not that Naruto cared. Everyone was worried about her.

"Itatchi stopped by last night." Naruto didn't say anything to the statement but rather closed his eyes again and went back to relaxing against the window. The cool glass lay against the skin of his arm and shoulder and it felt nice. Two months after being with Itatchi, his body temperature had permanently risen to just this side of dangerous. Due to having a higher body temperature, he burned calories at a faster rate than he did before he left. When he ate, he ate large amounts and when he didn't eat for five days straight, he fell seriously ill. Itatchi punished him for those illnesses so he learned not to try and starve himself. His thoughts were interrupted by talking.

"Nani?" he hadn't caught most of it. If he remembered rightly, Sasuke didn't like repeating himself but, there must have been a first time for everything because he just started from what was obviously the beginning.

"After you left, I waited around to see how long it would take you to come back. When he appeared in my home carrying you like a child, I wondered if you were dead. No, not dead but bleeding, bruised and obviously used. He proceeded to tell me you have no emotions You do not feel anything. Then he said when Hikime was found and retrieved, unless he ordered you too, you would leave again, permanently. Tell me," he looked at Naruto, eyes red and swirling, "would you willingly leave again to follow him?"

Naruto actually had the decency to think on the answer for a few moments. he looked to the bed and thought about everything that had happened before he'd left. Yes, he'd promised Sasuke that he'd get Hikime back and that's why he'd taken Itatchi's offer. During his time with Itatchi he'd forgotten that. When she'd started crying, it had come back to him full force. The offer, how desperate he was at the time to get any help he could. But then his thoughts turned to how much better off he was with no attachments, at least, after this promise wa completed. No one would wonder if he was dead or alive, no one would care where he was and he wouldn't have to watch the stares of hate directed at him from the people he had willingly sworn to protect.

Then he thought of Gaara.

Naruto's blue eyes closed once again as he remembered Gaara before the chounin exams. He was emotionless. He hungered for death and destruction but he didn't feel. He'd taught himself that emotions were useless bits of humanity that were better spent killing, torturing or furthering ones own gain. Then he'd become Kazekage. And died. He remembered feeling the whole that Gaara's death had caused. That's what emotions did to someone. They caused hurt. It wasn't a hurt he wanted. Physical pain was better than emotional pain. Physical pain could be taken care of whereas emotional pain never left. Never went away.

"Yes." He stood and started for the door. sasuke was across the room and grabbing his wrist to stop him from leaving.

"I don't like that answer dobe." With a flare of chakra, Sasuke transported them both to the Uchiha compound and right to his bedroom. The glow-in-the-dark stars were glowing hotly against the ceiling, the only witness as to what he was doing. Sasuke threw Naruto against the wall, his sharingan activated. Naruto turned just as he hit the wall and swiped out with a claw tipped hand. The hit caught Sasuke in the chest and he cursed but continued to stalk towards Naruto. The blond growled deep from his chest, a warning. Sasuke paused for a moment but he just amped up his eyes. Naruto stared into them, almost daring Sasuke to use them. He did, but only until he had a hold of Naruto's hands and his legs spread enough that he couldn't get leverage to attack. When Sasuke let Naruto go, the blond blinked and seemed to notice what happened. He started struggling.

"Let me go. Now."

"You don't order me dobe." Sasuke turned naruto around and pushed his face against the wall while holding his hands at the small of his back, legs still spread. With a fist full of hair, Sasuke leaned over to Naruto's ear and hissed. "Do you feel this Naruto? Or are you so dimmed out you feel nothing but what my brother does to you?" Naruto's eyes phased from orange back to blue but there was something in those blue eyes now. They weren't so dim, so lifeless. Sasuke scoffed inwardly and released Naruto's head long enough to tears the black shirt from his body. He then moved to the pants Naruto was wearing. "Do you feel this dobe? Or do I need to do more? Like this?" His free hand dug into Naruto's healing hip and the blond growled again trying to kick out and free his hands. If there was anything Sasuke had learned from his brother and the snake bastard, it was how to hold a person in a submissive position.

"Let me go Sasuke."

"Not until you feel." Sasuke, one handedly, again, rid himself of his clothing and pressed his naked front against Naruto's back. The blond stopped struggling and Sasuke could have swore he felt Naruto shutter but it was probably just a figment of his imagination. Using the tattered remains of Naruto's shirt, Sasuke bound his hands and infused the material with his own chakra so unless Naruto wanted to alert the whole village to what was happening, he wouldn't be able to break the binds. He then proceeded to toss Naruto onto the bed where the blond scrambled to stand and stare at him. Sasuke just walked towards him. Naruto had no where to go and when he took a step back, he hit his knees on the bed and fell backwards. Sasuke used one of his knees to spread Naruto's legs and with one hand, held Naruto's chest, then leaned over to the blonds ear, again. "You will feel me Naruto. You will come back to me." Naruto just scoffed.

Shaking his head, Sasuke reached over to his nightstand and rustled through the contents of the drawer until he pulled out a bottle of lubricant. It had been a birthday gift from Kakashi. It was his way of telling Sasuke he needed to get laid. It hadn't been opened and he'd had to hide it in the drawer so Aito wouldn't find it and ask a bazillion-and one- questions about what it was. Pulling off the cap, he squeezed a bit of the purple, jelly-like substance onto his fingers and looked at Naruto who was just staring at him, emotionlessly. After spreading the lube around his fingers, he pulled one of the blonds legs up and fought with him until he hand Naruto in a position where he couldn't get any leverage to fight. Than gods for sadistic bastards. Sometimes.

Gently, he inserted one finger into Naruto's entrance and watched as blue eyes closed tightly. he tried to fight but Sasuke just pressed against his leg drawing a hiss from clenched teeth. When he was sure Naruto had adjusted, he pulled out and pressed in again, stretching the blond. Granted, he was probably used to much rougher treatment, Sasuke knew how painful it was to be screwed without lube or stretching. When his first finger slid in and out without problem, he inserted a second and worked Naruto until he was stretched enough for a third. Then, he pulled his fingers out and using his only free hand, grabbed up the lube and slicked his cock. Turning Naruto onto his stomach, Sasuke spread the blonds legs and leaned over to Naruto's left shoulder where neck met shoulder and when he thrust in, he bit down.

Naruto had to grit his teeth to keep from crying out with the pain and pleasure thrumming through his veins. The demon inside of him roared. It was the first time he'd done that. He didn't do that when Itatchi made Naruto submit. Why now? His thoughts went unanswered and he was brought back to his body when Sasuke licked the bite wound.

"Feel that dobe?" Sasuke pulled out and thrust in quick, hard. Naruto shuttered and tried to get free. He couldn't. "This is me, Sasuke. This is not him. Never again will it be him Naruto." Sasuke pressed a kiss to the wound on Naruto's shoulder, the wound that was bleeding small droplets of blood from where his teeth punctured skin. "You are mine. From now on, gods above as my witnesses, he will not touch you." The Uchiha pulled out and pressed in, harder, faster. Naruto couldn't help the cry that escaped his lips then. Sasuke moved and searched for that one spot, the spot that would make Naruto go crazy. It took him a few tries but when he found it Naruto screamed out, body bucking against him.

"Fuck!"

"I'm doing that dobe." Naruto's body was so tight, muscles squeezing and seeming to milk him when he pulled out. Moving Naruto into a semi-sitting position, Sasuke wrapped an arm around the blonds chest, holding their bodies flush together and leaned back to Naruto's ear. When he thrust in and hit Naruto's prostate, he asked a question. "Who am I Naruto?"

"It...Sasuke..." Sasuke pulled out and hit that spot again. Naruto's head fell back against Sasuke's shoulder.

"Who am I Naruto?"

"Sasuke."

"Say it again! Say my name again Naruto!"

"Sasuke!" Naruto repeated his name over and over with every hit to his prostate and Sasuke reached his other hand around and removed the bindings on Naruto's wrists. Immediately, naruto changed positions. He pushed Sasuke down, eyes glowing with orange, and started a hard ride. Sasuke's head fell back against the pillows and his hands gripped Naruto's hips in a bruising grip. The blond liked it enough that he moaned. And the sound made Sasuke shiver.

When Sasuke felt himself nearing the edge of madness, he rolled them over and pulled Naruto's hands over his head and drew one of the blonds legs over his shoulders and thrust in. Naruto moaned again and again, Sasuke shivered. He wanted more of that sound. More sounds of pleasure. When Naruto looked at him again, his eyes were blue and shimmering. Sasuke's mouth parted and he searched those blue eyes deeply.

"Sasuke...." Naruto's back arched and his tan hands struggled for freedom and when they slipped free of Sasuke's hand, his nails racked down the Uchiha's back. Sasuke came hard and saw the stars above his head even when his eyes closed and his head tipped forward to catch Naruto's lips. The blond was repeating his name and when Sasuke felt wetness on his face, he opened his eyes and pulled away. naruto was crying. Sobbing actually. His hands were clutching at Sasuke's shoulders and he was sobbing wordlessly.

"Naruto-"

"Please, don't let me die again...I don't want to die Sasuke!" Naruto was shaking him slightly and Sasuke just nodded, rolling them to their sides and pulling Naruto to him, arms holding their bodies as close as two lovers could be. When Naruto's crying ceased, the blonds breathing was completely evened out. He'd cried himself to sleep. Sasuke reached down and pulled the covers up, not having bothered to make his bed that morning, and there he lay, holding one of the only two people he could never stop thinking about, in his arms through the rest of the night.

"Did they kill each other or something?"

"It's entirely possible buuutt...."

"You aren't trying to suggest they...Oh gods!"
There was a loud clatter and Sasuke snapped awake at the same time Naruto did and their heads clashed together in a loud enough thack, that they felt it all the way to their toes. Naruto hissed, Sasuke grunted and there was a scream somewhere off. Two pairs of agitated eyes turned towards the door to see one Hatake Kakashi and one Haruno Sakura. Sakura had a nose bleed and Kakashi was actually blinking. He didn't notice the problem he was having below the belt until Sasuke pointedly glared at it. Then, Sasuke pulled the covers up and made sure naruto was hidden from sight before rolling over, having slipped free of the blonds body during their rude awakening, and stood. Sakura did have to look at him now to know what he looked like. She'd seen him naked plenty of times in the last five years, even though every time she had had to treat him for some sort of serious injury or other, and besides, she was married.

"Your nose is bleeding." She immediately blushed and put a hand up to her nose, turned and stormed out of the room. Kakashi was quick to follow without so much as a muttered apology. Muttering a few fruitful curses, Sasuke shut the door and went about grabbing up the tattered remains of his and naruto's clothes. When he turned back to the bed, said blond was watching him, face empty. Sasuke paled a little before Naruto gave a very small, very tentive smile. Sasuke couldn't help himself, he beamed. "Shower?"

"Hungry."

"Hn. Shower first, food later." He rifled through the clothes he had in his dresser. Again, he had nothing that would fit Naruto so he pulled out one of his larger black shirt and some sweats. "Have to go shopping..."

"I'm fine." He turned and watched Naruto stand and stretch. A series of pops and cracks ensued and Sasuke swore he could see bones realigning. When Naruto turned back, he simply walked to the door and left, closing it quietly behind him. Well, at least he was unabashed by his nudity.

There was a good thing about having two bathrooms. It meant two people could shower at relatively the same time although showering together saved time and water. Sasuke opted to leave Naruto alone with some clothes and headed off to the shower above the kitchen. After quickly washing up, he dressed and headed down the stairs. Sakura and Kakashi were sitting at the table, hands around steaming cups of liquid. Sakura caught his caze and blushed, looking away. Kakashi turned around and winked. Sasuke growled out a curse at him before walking over to the cupboards and getting out a cup to make tea.

"Aito is being released in ten minutes. Hokage-sama has cleared her for the mission. Or rather, she got sick of the endless whining and told her to do what she wanted. It goes without saying that Aito will be rushing here and wanting to leave immediately."

"Where is Sai?"

"On his way."

"Any others?"

"None that we can take with us. We would have had Hinata but she, Shino, Kiba and Kurenai got sent out on an emergency mission early this morning. When they didn't report in, Neji's team was dispatched."

"Hn." Sasuke sat down with his cup of tea and sipped it, eyes wandering, and staying, at the stairs. It wasn't but a few minutes later that Naruto came down and looked at them, then strode to the cupboards and made himself some tea. And breakfast. No one said a word as Aito came running into the house and moving, faster than lightning, gathered up everything she would need for the coming mission. When no one moved from the table, she skidded to a halt and looked between Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi. Then, her gaze caught Naruto bustling about the kitchen. Cooking.

"Did I miss something?" Sakura blushed, Kakashi stammered and Sasuke just shook his head. "Well then let's go! If we don't get our aaa- butts moving they are going to move again!"

"How would you know that?" Kakashi looked at her. She frowned and looked to the floor.

"I just do." Sasuke grabbed her arm and dragged her to him, forcing her to sit.

"Breakfast first, mission later."

"NO! You don't understand-" He just looked at her. She opened her mouth to speak and when nothing came out, she closed it and looked to the table in front of her. The door opened again, this time to reveal the missing team member Sai. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Naruto. It took a moment but Naruto looked over, in the middle of cooking a few eggs and his hand stilled. Sai had avoided Naruto at all costs since he heard the blond was back. Well, there was no avoiding him now.

Kakashi, being the good sumeritian he was decided to break the ice. "Sai-san, how is Lee?" Aito blinked.

"Why would he know that?" Sasuke simply covered her ears.

"Fine Kakashi-san. He left this morning." Sai looked away from Naruto and walked over to the table, this being a semi-regular occurance when their team was dispatched on a mission. Naruto added another egg to the pan and continued cooking a quick meal. When the food was done, to say that everyone, including Aito, was surprised at the sheer amount of food he had, he just stared at them.

"High metabolism."

"We know that."

"It got higher." He picked up his chopsticks, mumbled something and started eating.

"If he eats like that, where does it all go?" Aito was tilting her head, looking over Naruto and trying to picture where he put all of that food. She may not have been born a blond but sometimes, she had no common sense. "And why can I eat like that?!" She looked up at her father, pout on her lips.

"You aren't Naruto."

"Well I know that but-" Sasuke stuck a peice of egg in her mouth before she could finish talking. Sakura giggled and Kakashi had to look away before he too laughed. The face she made at her father promised a sound beating. Sasuke just quirked a brow and watched as his daughter looked away. Naruto ignored them in favor of cleaning his plate. He might not eat again for a few days so safer was better than ill. Sai had eaten before he arrived but he was learning not to pass up free food. He ate most of his plate and deemed it good enough that Sasuke wouldn't be agitated. The Uchiha had said many times he was a bad example for Aito but, Lee was helping him work on that. Just as Kakashi and Iruka.

"When do we leave?" Kakashi looked at Naruto and then to Sasuke. The Uchiha just shrugged.

"I have something to do first. Come on Aito-chan." Sakura stood, pushing her empty plate away and grabbed up the four foot terror, carrying her upstairs.

"What does she have to do?" Sai watched them go up the stairs.

"They are women Sai. They take forever getting ready." Sai blinked for a moment and slowly nodded.

"Where did you keep that?!" Aito bounced up and down when she was handed the brown package. When it was within her tiny hands, she proceeded to tear at the paper until whatever was inside fell from the remaining pieces of brown. When she picked up whatever had been in the package, she frowned. "Clothes?"

"Not just any clothes Aito-chan." Sakura helped the child strip free of the clothes she'd been to the hospital in and helped her put on the new clothes.

"They're black. How could you give me something this horrible color?!"

"Hush." When she was finished, Aito walked over to her bedroom mirror and stared at herself. Her sleeves were too long for her arms and she had at least six inches of overhang. Her obi was actually silk rope, tied around her waist and when she looked closely, she could see the Uchiha fan sewn into the left breast of the shirt. Her pants had slits up the sides that stopped just at mid thigh but when she moved, she found that the slits allowed for more flexibility. She looked the part. An Uchiha. With a frown, she held up her arms, showing Sakura the sleeves.

"Too long."

"They are just fine."

"No, I won't be able to-" She stopped and looked down at her sleeves, a smile splitting her face in half. "I look like a mix of Neji and Shizune."

"Something wrong with that?" Aito turned back to the mirror. Yes. It wasn't her.

"She has one...just like this. But it's white, like our hair." Aito seemed to deflate for a moment and Sakura walked over, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"You talked with her ne, Aito-chan?" The child just nodded.

"She's moving as we speak. If we don't catch her, she will be hidden again for five more years." Sakura bent down and turned Aito to her. It was times like these that everyone was reminded that Aito was a six year old, still a baby, and not a trained killer.

"Naruto promised he'd get her back didn't he? We all promised, didn't we?" She just nodded. "I have never once known Naruto to go back on a promise but..." She shrugged. "He may be different but, I don't think he would have left in the first place if not for a promise Aito-chan, and he certainly wouldn't be back if not for that same promise." She herself, of course, still had a few bones to pick with the blond but right at that moment, Aito needed all of the reassurances she could give even if that meant Sakura had to play nice. "Come on. They are probably talking all kinds of crap about us right now." They shared a smile and, picking the girl up, Sakura headed back downstairs. "Where's Naruto?"

"Shopping."

"What for?" Sasuke looked at her. "I don't trust him." There was a thump on her head and she rolled her eyes up to see a pouty face. "I'm sorry Aito-chan." Sakura proceeded to glare at Sasuke but walked back to the table, not bothering to sit. "Shall we?" Everyone migrated to the door, Sasuke having grabbed up his and Aito's weapons and what not while the girls were...indisposed.

They took to the roves and waited at the gates for Naruto. Aito had started up a whine about how she wanted to use the sword she'd five fingered from the shark face. Sasuke had told her adamantly, "No." He wasn't budging either and she gave up when she knew she was defeated. They were just starting to get edgy to leave when Naruto walked up to them. Sasuke, Sai and Kakashi all got instant nosebleeds and Sakura had the decency to look away. Aito however, had no such thing and jumped off of Sakura's shoulders to run up to the blond.

"I think this is what all of the older ladies call hawt." She looked to Sakura. "Or am I wrong?"

"You're too young to be saying such things Aito-chan!" The girl just shrugged and looked over Naruto. He was clad in a sickly orange, what was obviously a body suit, that hugged and accentuated each and every muscle that wasn't covered by the black pants that actually looked more like martial arts pants than anything. He had a weapons pouch strapped to his right and left legs and was wearing black shoes that looked like foot wraps, but they had hard soles. To say that he was drop dead gorgeous would be an understatement, even in that sickly orange color. In place of his hetai-ait he had a black tie that was tied around his forehead. "Ready to go da?" She said the last with a grin on her face.

Naruto looked from the child in front of him to the team he'd be leaving with. His team, well, they weren't anymore. They looked at him and he got a nod, a scowl, nothing and when he looked at Sasuke, he got a look of pure determination from the Uchiha. Nodding, he looked down to Aito who was currently running her fingers over his body suit. He grabbed her hand and she jumped, looking up. She blushed a nice shade of red before gently tugging her hand free of his grasp and walking back to Sakura, to sit perched on the older woman's shoulders. The blond just walked over to the team and stopped, looking out the gates. He was making good on his promise. Now if only Orochimaru stayed put.

He watched from the shadows as they left a small scowl on his face. Kisame was close at hand, keeping an eye out in case any wandering shinobi got the wrong idea and tried to catch them. Not only had they cut off all of that beautiful blond hair but they had given him back something to keep. Damn his brother! He growled and moved from his hiding spot. Well, he'd have to follow them at any rate. No use in not seeing this through. He hadn't worked five years to give up and giving up was something Uchiha Itatchi did not do. He had no reason to do it because he was perfect, in every way. Except for his eyes.

"Kisame."

"Coming."
