Chapter 19
(Some of you may be wondering what kind of weapon Hotaru is using, well; in all honesty, it’s just an English long sword. I could give him a magic weapon or a more oriental styled blade; however, I think this will be more appropriate for him, especially when you learn his secret. And his name also means “firefly,” which will also make sense in a little bit)

Chapter 19: The Fight of Destiny, Naruto Accepts the Challenge
Naruto’s jaw dropped completely, he didn’t know what to do, “Are you serious, why would you want to fight me?” The older man smiled and said “A test,” which only confused Naruto more. Tsunade gave a bit more detail, “Well, I figured at some point I would need to choose a successor to myself as the Hokage. This is a test to see if you are capable of doing so, both on a diplomatic end, which you did, as well as a fighting stance, to protect the village. Is that alright with you Naruto?” The blonde Jounin could not believe what he had just heard, *a test to become Hokage......?* Naruto was just in awe, he could not believe that all he had to do was beat Hotaru, a plain old man, and he would be a candidate for Hokage. “Fine,” Naruto said proudly, taking his stance “I accept your challenge.” “Alright, this is just like when you fought Hiashi, but trust me, Hotaru here is on a whole other league, so be very careful on how you attack, ok?” Tsunade said, raising her hand into the air. Naruto nodded, continuing to look at his opponent, “alright Naruto, Hotaru, begin,” Tsunade dropped her hand, and the fight began.
Hotaru gave the boy some time to grab a kunai to guard himself, *he’s going to need it,* he thought to himself, suddenly lunging at Naruto with amazing speed and power. Naruto could barely hold on to his knife, desperately trying to block the speedy man’s assault, *No wonder Kisame was so damn frightened, he’d be are to block even at 4 or 5 gates,* Naruto thought, jumping away from the man as he lunged at him again. Hotaru was much quicker then Naruto thought, as he flicked his wrist and threw his weapon straight at Naruto; he narrowly dodged, and it drove itself into a tree. “Shit,” the blonde yelled, running around the man, who was quickly making hand seals. “Fire Release: Dragon Inferno,” said Hotaru, sending a rather large wave of flames through the woods sounding Naruto from his mouth. Naruto hide far away behind a tree, trying to catch his breath, *in another league my ass, this guy is in his own fucking sport,” Naruto thought, as the old man started to find where he was. “Wind Release: Desert Coffin,” screamed Hotaru, and sand started to wrap around Naruto’s legs. “WHAT THE FUCK, THIS IS GAARA’S JUTSU,” Naruto screamed as he was lifted off of the ground and tossed into a nearby puddle. “What did you expect boy, I also know the Raikiri, your Father’s Rasengan, and a lot of other techniques, because…” he said, opening his eyes so Naruto could see them, “I’m far stronger then you think.”
Naruto had never seen anything like them; they were black around the outside, with crimson red around a slit-like pupil, all he could say was, these were not human eyes. “You’re a Jinchuriki,” Naruto looked in horror at the old man, who nodded. “Although these eyes are a part of my clan’s Kekkei Genkai, yes, I am the Shichibi, the Seven-Tailed Dragon,” Hotaru stood tall, and Naruto had a very frightened look on his face, standing up and running away. “SHIT!” was all you could hear in the Land of Water that day.

Tsunade was having a hard time keeping up with the both of them, *with Hotaru’s amazing speed and power, and Naruto not wanting anything to do with fighting a Jinchuriki, it’s no wonder I can’t keep up,* Tsunade thought, running after Hotaru. The elder man was cutting down trees left and right, moving straight for Naruto, he didn’t have to go back for his sword that he conveniently ‘placed’ in a tree, as he had a seal wrapped around the hilt that brought it back to his hand if he needed it. Naruto was scared out of his mind, trying to think of some sort of plan to fight his fearsome opponent. His train of thought was interrupted when the blade of a certain weapon came through the tree he had been hiding behind, only inches from his head. “Well, boy, if you wont come out from behind that tree, then I guess I’ll just have to removed it,” Hotaru grinned, forming hand seals, then holding his right arm; his right hand started to burn and fuse with electricity. “Fire Release: Scorching Raikiri,” he yelled, as he charged at the tree with the fire enhanced lighting blade, cutting the tree down and burning it to cinders. Naruto jumped back, as Hotaru advanced, grabbing his sword from amongst the flames, “That’s it,” Naruto said, quickly taking off his weights on his arms and legs (forgot about those, didn’t you?) Naruto made his move, running and hitting Hotaru with a dead punch to his left jaw.
Hotaru swung his sword to evade the much quicker Jounin, hoping that he wouldn’t be hit like that again. *Damn, I forgot about that fight,* he thought to himself, suddenly remembering how this boy reached the seventh chakra gate without succumbing to it. Hotaru didn’t want it to come to that, so while blocking Naruto’s speedy and powerful attacks, he started to from an all too familiar ball of energy into his hands. Naruto saw what he was doing quite clearly, but, it’s what Hotaru did next with his Rasengan that was the real wonder. The ball of energy looked like it was on fire, and started to turn pure red; the old man grinned and yelled ‘Fire Release: Dragon Missile Rasengan’ before driving it into Uzumaki Naruto's chest, shattering his weighted chest plate and throwing him into yet another tree. Naruto coughed and took of his jacket and the armor, which had slightly caught fire from that powerful attack, “Shit, I’m going to get killed…” he panted, trying very hard to stand up. “The Ryugan (Dragon eye) allows me to analyze the basic components of any technique, not the Jutsu itself. I can only do it with Taijutsu or Ninjutsu, as I can not see illusions,” Hotaru stated, allowing Naruto ‘some’ time to recover. Naruto was not happy about this, if he didn’t hit this guy hard, and soon, he was more then likely going to die, *Plan B,* he thought, preparing to open the first gate.

His sword was knocked out of his hands and he was being wrapped by the cloth, but Hotaru made a few hand seals and smiled, “Bad idea child,” he said at he was fully entangled by the cloth. Naruto moved right behind him to finish his attack, Hotaru grinned with delight, “Fire Release: Armor of Flames,” he said, as the man enveloped himself in a crimson fire, burning away the cloth wrappings that held him. “Fuck me,” Naruto said, as Hotaru moved behind him and grabbed the Jounin’s wrists, flipping them both upside down. “Fire Release: Dragon Meteor Lotus,” Hotaru screamed, as both of them were enveloped by the flames and spun hard to the ground. Hotaru stood, and Naruto remained on the ground, singed from the intense heat of that attack. *Damnit, out of all the Jinchuriki I could have fought, why did it have to be the fire using dragon?* he thought to himself, struggling to get back up. If it weren’t for the Kyuubi’s regenerative abilities, Naruto would not have survived by now, *and I wont if this keeps up,* he thought, forcing himself to open his second gate.

Tsunade was impressed that Naruto was even able stand after Hotaru’s onslaught, *even with the Kyuubi, this must be hurting him substantially,* she thought, getting ready to step in if Naruto should be critically injured. She had known Hotaru for a long time, since he has fought many of the greatest ninja in all of Konoha history, *Grandpa, Great Uncle Tobirama, Sarutobi-sensei, all 3 of us Sannin, Minato, Kakashi… and each one of them had a hard time fighting him.* She knew that if anyone would challenge Naruto enough to show if he could be the Hokage, it would be Hotaru.
Hotaru got into his fighting stance and smiled, “Well, at least you’re still standing,” he said, pushing fire energy into his arms. Naruto did not like what he saw just now, he swore that Hotaru was going to use a fire enhanced version of the ‘Gentle Fist’ style. Naruto was very tempted to use the rest of the gates, but, it would require energy, and if he had to fight the Shichibi to his full strength, *man, I don’t wanna think about it,* he sighed as he started to run around the older man again. The two men fought hand to hand, Naruto was getting burned by the fiery storm of blows from the elder man’s finger tips, and Hotaru was getting rather bruised from the fierce punches and kicks from the child in front (and behind) him. Naruto kicked Hotaru in the face and sent him flying, but the old man was fast, kicking himself off of the tree that he was about to crash into and flying back at his opponent, but Naruto was prepared, as he started to make a ball of wind energy in his hand. “Game over; Wind Release: Rasengan,” Naruto said, hitting Hotaru in the chest with the powerful sphere of wind, sending the dragon eyed man through the trees.
Hotaru wasn’t getting up anytime soon, as soon as he hit the ground Naruto continued his assault, hitting him with a barrage of fists and feet. He was starting to really feel pain, but he knew he had to keep pushing Naruto to his absolute limits. He pushed Naruto back and raised his hand, summoning his sword back to his hand. Naruto responded by pulling out a kunai and leaping at the man, who quickly blocked the attack. He continued to swing at the Jinchuriki, *don’t let up, don’t give him a chance to respond, don’t let him fight back,* Naruto thought, advancing on his opponent with a flurry of slashes and kicks. Hotaru was able to block efficiently enough, but he knew he had to go to higher lengths soon, *if I don’t do THAT, then I’m sunk,* he thought, getting ready to use another ‘Dragon Missile Rasengan.’ Naruto noticed this and leaped back, panting from the strength and speed he had used on the older man. “Well, not that you’re back there, I guess it’s time I took this fight to the next level,” Hotaru said, making 4 very unique hand seals, “Fire Release: Half-Dragon Possession.” His body started to change; his hands turned into claws, his back started to grow wings, 3 tails started to form behind him, and his skin around his arms, legs and face started to become scaly. “Shit, I’m in trouble,” said Naruto, holding his kunai shakily as the fight continued.

Hinata sighed and looked out of her baby’s window; it had been a few days since Naruto left of his mission, and she was wondering what was going to happen. “What did Sakura mean by ‘a mission to become Hokage’? Does that mean that Naruto’s mission is a test?” She rubbed her baby’s back as he snuggled a bit with his blanket, he squirmed a bit to get comfortable, then relaxed, “I hope your father comes home soon, Minato-chan,” she sighed, continuing to look out of the window.

(As Uzumaki Hinata prays for Naruto’s return, the men continue their fight, but with Hotaru’s half possession, will Naruto stand a chance in this fight, or will Hotaru have to go to full dragon just to stop the ‘#1 hyperactive Knucklehead Ninja of Konoha?’ Well, I think you know what I’m going to say, so I won’t say it, Savvy? ^_^)
