I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Housemates
Yo, I’m back, with another chapter, if that’s good or bad, that’s debatable.
Review responses:
Yukiko: Yeah, I know, it’s really hard for me to write it this way because he’s always a loud mouth, instead of barely speaking. Hope you like the new update.
Anon: Witches can be male or female, old or young, pretty much they can look like anyone. I hope that you are pleased with the new addition.
Jadejj: Thank you, I try to be a little different, and I hope that I haven’t shocked anyone too badly with this.
Kero-chan: Thank you.
Tsuki: Is this soon enough? Sorry it didn’t come out sooner, but school is a major bitch and I just can’t seem to find enough time to type all my writing up.
kijo kasumi: thank you, it’s nice to hear that someone likes my work.
Okay, there’s all the responses to the reviews I received. Now on with the story…
***********************************************************
The house was aware. Not very, but still somewhat able to sense what was around it. It projected an aura that in some cases could be felt from yards away.
Sasuke walked right towards it, which made Naruto nervous. He could feel the power coming off the building and it felt very strange, like sensing a predator coming closer, but not knowing if it’s coming after you.
The dark eyed witch stopped, noticing that his companion was no longer beside him. “Naruto?” The concern was apparent in Sasuke’s voice.
Naruto started and looked up. He cocked his head to one side questioningly, the little fox ears twitching. He still wasn’t used to someone caring about him.
“Are you okay? Is something wrong?”
The kitsune nodded, and then opened his mouth to speak for the first time since Sasuke had met him. “Aura.”
The tiny, almost inaudible, voice caught Sasuke by surprise. “What aura?”
Naruto pointed down the street towards Sasuke’s small house and murmured “House.”
To say that Sasuke was surprised that Naruto could feel the protective shielding around his house would be a major understatement. Even he couldn’t feel it from this distance. “You can feel that?”
Naruto nodded and walked a little closer to his new found friend. He, like most wild creatures, trusted his instincts. They hadn’t led him wrong yet, so he was going to let them lead him. At that particular moment, they were screaming that he could trust the paler boy.
Sasuke started at the feeling of Naruto’s hand around his own. Realizing the huge step forward he had taken in his relationship with the blue-eyed fox, Sasuke squeezed the caramel-colored hand gently.
Naruto became entranced by the feeling of being touched by something living other than the foxes in the forest, or the sharp pain that came with being hit by one of the villagers, as well as the contrast between the snowy white skin and his own tanned hand.
The pair finally appeared in front of the walkway leading up to the front door
**********************************
The closer he got to the house, the more it burned him. The intense scrutiny was almost unbearable. Naruto started squeezing the hand clasped in his to the point of almost breaking the fingers.
Sasuke never complained, never asked him to let go, just let him walk to the front door at his own pace.
Finally, the young kitsune and the ivory-skinned witch got to he stoop. Sasuke opened the door and led Naruto inside.
The moment he stepped inside, Naruto's body began to shake, gathering momentum as time passed, until it reached the point where it appeared that earthquakes were wracking through his body.
Feeling and seeing these tremors, Sasuke pulled the younger fox into his arms and held on tightly, trying to offer reassurance. A small part of him, in the very depths of his mind, commented on how right it felt to have the little demon in his arms.
Startled by the show of affection, Naruto stiffened, then relaxed and snuggled closer. It felt nice to be embraced, to have someone care about him, even if it was all a part of his mind. After all, no one could ever love a demon, it just wasn’t possible.
Sasuke pulled away slightly and looked down at the blonde mop. "So, what do we want to eat?"
Broad, blue-cloth covered shoulders shrugged, he didn't care that much what he ate, just that he did.
Wanting more conversation, Sasuke tried again, "Come on, anything you want to eat, my treat."
Naruto looked up with questioning blue, cat-pupil eyes. He wasn't sure how much Sasuke meant what he saying, or how long before Sasuke would tire of his presence. "What ever you want to eat is fine. I don't care."
Not sure what startled him more, the "speech" or what was said, Sasuke stared, slightly taken aback. Naruto, to his knowledge, had never said that much to anyone. But it was obvious that he wasn't going to state a specific preference, so he walked into the kitchen and looked for something that he thought the kitsune would like.
"Okay, you can sit down while I cook, and then how 'bout we go to the onsen (hot spring)?"
At the word "onsen", Naruto perked up, he loved the hot springs and wasn't afraid to show it.
Seeing an enthusiastic response, Sasuke put the finished onigiri (rice balls) and ramen on the table.
The meal passed in relative silence, but it was a calm, peaceful silence.
Once finished, Sasuke grabbed his bathing gear and the pair headed to Naruto's apartment to get his things.
They approached a less-than-pleasant side of town. The buildings should have been condemned the day the were built and Naruto headed fro the worst, hinting with his body language that Sasuke didn't have to follow him.
Sasuke trailed behind the taller fox anyway. What he saw horrified him to no end. The roof was all but falling down, the walls weren't much better, the stairs outside the door were broken, here was no heat and all the windows were either boarded up or broken, he had no bed or couch, just a pile of moldy, holey cushions with the stuffing coming out and a refrigerator, with its door hanging from one hinge. Even with all of the horrors inside, it was obvious that the room was very well taken care of, for someone who had nothing but what he could scrounge.
"You're moving out of this hell hole." Sasuke's tone brooked no argument; Naruto was going to move into the Uchiha house- TONIGHT!
Naruto looked up in surprise; where would he go? He had to scavenge for everything he had including his home.
Sasuke; in the short amount of time that he had interacted with his classmate he had learned quickly how to read his body language, said, "You can come to live with me if you want, or we'll find another place, if you don't want that, but no one should be forced to live in a dump like this."
Naruto studied the other intently, then with no warning, threw himself at the other and grabbed him in a bone-crushingly tight hug.
Stunned by the show of affection, Sasuke looked questioningly at the other.
"Thank you" was all Naruto said before burying his face in Sasuke's hair, slightly mussing the rooster tail there.
The young prodigy just tightened his grip and murmured quietly into the other's ear, saying things to the fox that hadn't been heard since his old caretaker had been alive.
Silent tears started to wet the midnight black hair as the fox cried at the feeling of being cared for, for the first time in years.
"You want to pack and move now, or do you want to hit the onsen first?"
"Pack first, then we can soak away stiffness." It seemed as if Naruto was starting to loosen up around the other, if his spoken and physical responses were any indication.
"Okay, so what do you want to keep? Anything that you need but don't have, I'll provide."
They gathered some of Naruto's clothes, mostly the spare sets of school uniforms that he had, a few books and a picture in a silver frame, the most expensive thing Naruto owned, but would never sell.
"Whose this?" Sasuke asked, pointing to the other person in the picture. He had brown eyes and hair that was pulled into a pony tail at the top of his head. Across the man's nose and upper cheeks was a thin scar.
"That's Iruka-otou-san, the man who raised me." Then, in a quieter, sad voice, "He died in the epidemic a few years back." Naruto's tone clearly said that the topic was closed, for now.
The two boys lugged the two bags of Naruto's things to Sasuke's house.
After putting everything in the guestroom that would now be Nartuo's, the boys decided to go shopping for the necessities that Naruto didn't have: more clothes, new toiletries, extra furnishings that the room didn't already have, later when they had more time.
Having decided on a course of action, the two headed back to the house and got ready to head for the hot springs.
************************************
Steam rose from the hot pools of water. Naruto stared for a moment, then quickly moved to the edge and sank into the cloudy water. Sasuke joined him after a few minutes. A while later, they got out to go to dinner.
After a delicious sushi dinner, they went home and to bed. After all, they had school in the morning and needed their rest.
***************************************
Ok, what do you think? They kinda move along fast, but I really don’t know how to move it along any better, so yeah, anyways.
Naruto mentions an “Iruka-otou-san”. It basically means that he’s calling his old caretaker, Iruka, his surrogate father.
Okay, I got a response to rewrite this chapter, but I didn't really know how to go about it, so I changed a few things around, but that's about all. To explain what's going on better: Sasuke doesn't understand why he feels this way towards Naruto, he just knows that he wants to have some kind of intimate, though not necessarily romantic (at this point), relationship with the demon. Naruto is a demon fox, and has the instincts of one, and they are telling him to trust Sasuke, so, he does; after all, they haven't led him wrong yet. It all has to do with the ritual that Sasuke performed in the last chapter.
The next chapter will explain a little bit more about Naruto's past, and deal with other things that need to be addressed, such as questions about appearance, the reaction of the villagers to the relationship between the two of them and anything else that might come up.
Too tired and cold to keep going, so any questions can be asked, I’m not going to try and guess what you guys will ask. And I'm looking for a beta for this, and possibly any future Naruto stories I might write, so if you're interested, let me know, and make sure in some way to leave me a way to contact you.
Ja ne!
