Summary:Naruto’s Mother dies just two days before his tenth birthday. He then moves to Konoha with his Guardian Kakashi. Will Kakashi make an acceptable father, and what happens when he starts to have feelings for a certain chunin . Will Naruto open up when his world seems to be crashing down. And how does a certain dark haried boy fit into this scene.
Kakashi looked at the boy and his belonging. All Naruto had brought with him was a couple of bright orange pants, a few black shirts, and one orange sweater.
“You know, me and my mom never took a picture, I don’t know why but I wish we did” Naruto stared at the ground hoping it would suck him into the floor.
Kakashi walked up to his side, “When a person dies, they live on in the people who were close to them. By doing things that person once enjoyed, you are in essence carrying on the memory of them. I am more than certain, that your mother will continue to live on in you.”
He held the boys hands in his. Naruto looked up at him “Kakashi…Do you think we could bury my mother…please.” “It would be very dishonorable on my part if we didn’t Naruto”
After they had dug a ditch about ten feet deep the boy and his new guardian laid his mother in the ground.
“Naruto would you like to say any last words” Naruto nodded slightly and stood beside his mothers grave.
“Mom…no one in the world seemed to care for me, and no one even treated me like a human” He looked up into the sky now and smiled slightly “but that was just fine…because I had you and you took care of me and never did anything bad to me.”
He looked at the ground as his tears flowed freely “I know you wouldn’t want to see me crying right now, but I can’t help it. You were the only thing in my life that made me whole…and now that you’re gone…I don’t know what to do”
He bawled out loud and Kakashi held onto the crying boy. He truly felt for him, and was also enraged at the village.
People who were so cruel to this child, the people of this village were more savage than any beast he had come across. He comforted the boy until he sobs had lessened. Then he knelt on the ground and bowed his head.
“Ms.Uzumaki, I Kakashi Hatake, give my solemn vow, that I will protect and look after Naruto for you. I must admit that I have grown rather protective of your son without even realizing it. I hope that you will accept me as his new guardian, and I hope that Naruto will at some point come to trust me as well. Given that I am a stranger, I know the task at hand may be difficult, but I have never turned down anything simply because it seemed difficult. I will protect your son with my life.”
Naruto looked up into Kakashi’s one eye, and in it he saw sincerity. He had seen that look many times, but only in his mothers eyes. After his speech Kakashi looked down to see a surprised Naruto. “Something wrong Naruto?” He shook his head before saying “Sorry it’s just your eyes, you’re not like the others, you don’t look like you hate me just for being born…Thanks”
After a while Kakashi couldn’t help himself and he tugged Naruto into another hug. “Naruto I promise you, nothing will ever harm you again and I won't allow you to be alone.”
Naruto looked thoughtfully into the mans eye before replying “I believe you Kakashi, and I’ll try not to cause too much trouble”
He ruffled Naruto’s hair and said “I’m sure you won’t” Again the man smiled down at him. And for the first time since the morning's attack, Naruto smiled back. With that said, they begun to bury his mother under the tree swing where her and Naruto had spent many days talking and playing around.
As they headed away from the grave site Naruto plucked a flower from the ground and opened his pocket, he pulled out some wire and a shuriken, then attached the stem onto the shuriken and threw it to the center of the tree. Upon hitting the tree the flower fell from the shuriken and slowly landed on top of the grave. Naruto looked up to the sky. “Mom I promise not to forget you, and I promise to do what I can to make sure no one will have to suffers like you and I have”
Kakashi didn’t know which was more amazing, his effortless accuracy with a shuriken, or how maturely the boy was handling the situation.
Kakashi and Naruto headed south east towards Konoha. Naruto had barely spoken a word since the journey had begun. Kakashi took the initiative.
“So Naruto I saw how well you can handle a shuriken, may I ask who taught you.”
They continued walking at a steady pace. “When I was eight years old my mom read me a story about shinobi. She told me about the five great countries and how the kage’s were greatly respected in their villages. I wanted my mom to be respected, I could care less about myself, but I hated the way the villagers treated her. So I started training from then on, to become a great shinobi. I practiced with rocks in the beginning and also started training in taijutsu just recently. My mom noticed my hard work and dedication, so on my ninth birthday she got me a set of shuriken, and told me to practice safely and away from the villagers. I guess if they found out about me possessing such weapons it would have given them more reason to run us out of the village.”
And then he looked down again “That was my last shuriken though, but I wanted to leave something I held important with her.” Kakashi dug in his vest and pulled out three shuriken.
“Hey Naruto, how would you like to do some shuriken training with me, I can’t say I’m a master, but I’ve done it once or twice.” Naruto had yet to realize how skilled Kakashi was. The jounin had walked to a tree and looked at it. He tapped his foot on the tree and walked back to Naruto.
“You might want to close your ears.” At that moment the tree suddenly fell forward and landed near them. But what was even more surprising, was that somehow the tree had also fallen into five blocks of lumber. He watched in amazement at the sight. But he was even more shocked as Kakashi continued. After a series of hands signs the five logs had turned into targets.
“Well Naruto shall we begin. I marked each of the targets with red dots, those red dots, Naruto, are vital parts of the body, and when hit can cause death, either instantly, such as the eyes, temples, and open mouth; or gradually such as the upper torso. As you can see there are no red marks on the rib cage. Do you know why that is Naruto?” Naruto shook his head while listening intently to Kakashi. “Shuriken thrown to the upper torso are less fatal then they seem. Most people cannot throw a shuriken hard enough to pierce the muscle and bone of the ribcage in order to hit the more vital organs. However, if you train long enough for your throw to become that powerful, then this ability could become a valuable asset to you.”
Naruto took all this in. He was hanging on to Kakashi’s every word. The jounin smiled. “Now then” He did a few more hand seals and soon yellow spots appeared on the targets. “These are considered the wounding points of a target, they are the abdomen, the kidneys, and the thighs. Striking the thighs has an added effect of leaving a target less mobile. However if you strike here” He pointed to a red dot on the thigh area. “You will hit the femoral artery and the target will die from severe blood loss, in minutes.
Well then I’ll let you absorb that, and have you practice on your own for now. Show me what you can do, and I’ll offer some tips.” This training seemed to distract Naruto from his sadness, and the boy was actually smiling and having a good time. Kakashi looked at Naruto and saw so how much happiness those sapphire eyes held.
After two more hours of training Naruto was able to hit any spot on the target that Kakashi had instructed him to. “Wow Naruto, perhaps it should be you teaching me then.” Naruto Smiled again “Thanks Kakashi…for everything.”
They continued walking along the dirt road path, and eventually reached the village gates. “Welcome Naruto, To Konoha, The village hidden in the leaves.” Naruto stared in wonderment as he entered the city. It was full of vendors and shops on every corner. Kakashi Patted his head and brought his arm around Naruto’s shoulder. “Welcome home”
