Chapter 2
I still don't own Naruto.
Well onward to the next chapter.
Chapter two
“ Well the question to ask here is Sasuke are you coming back to the village with us? Is that why you stayed beside Naruto instead of leaving?” Kakashi asked him.
Naruto turned his head slightly to look at Sasuke's face, and silently asked him that as well.
Sasuke looked at Naruto's face, the face that had so much faith in him, that Sasuke had to turn away to face Kakashi instead.
“ I couldn't leave Naruto laying here in this condition, after all this is all my fault, I have to take responsibility for my actions. They shame my family name, and dishonor my clan. I almost did exactly what my father told me not to do.” Sasuke said.
At this Kakashi's eyebrow rose, maybe Sasuke got knocked back to normal. Just what kind of fight did these two engage in anyway?
“ So Sasuke what are you going to do now? What is your plan?” Kakashi asked him again.
Sasuke sighed, even if he wanted to leave, there was no way in hell he had enough strength left to battle Kakashi. That and he didn't want to leave Naruto anymore. Naruto had shown great skill, but Naruto's words to him left him wondering. His power wasn't enough to do what?
“ Kakashi, I will return to the village with you and Naruto. But one day I will have to leave to kill Itachi. When that day comes, nobody will be able to stop me from achieving my goal.” Sasuke spoke with resolve.
“ Didn't I tell you to forget about revenge? When you get your revenge, you won't feel any better, and all that will remain is emptiness in your soul. But if you are so hell bent on vengence, then I guess that I can't say anymore to change your mind. But the thing is, are you going to try to go to Orochimaru again? Is it worth that much?
“ No, I won't go to Orochimaru, that was a foolish idea, and now that I think about it Naruto's words have finally sunk in. Orochimaru wanted to use my body as a container to transfer himself into. He wanted to become me. If I did that, then I would never be able to defeat Itachi. My entire life would have no meaning, and there is something else.
Power can be gained in many forms, and from what I have seen from Naruto, it doesn't happen quickly either. It takes time to be able to gain that much power. And I plan to get stronger, I can't have that dobe being better than me.
I will surpass Naruto, you, and then I will surpass Itachi, and destroy him. Then when I am strong enough to fight Itachi and win, then I will take care of Orochimaru. I owe him for leaving this detestable mark on me.” Sasuke glared at this last part.
Kakashi laughed and Naruto just stared into blank space. He couldn't believe what he just heard. Sasuke said that Naruto was better than he was! Sasuke wanted to surpass him! At that moment Naruto was a happy boy indeed. The one thing he wanted most in this world, besides ramen and to protect his important people, was the acceptance of Sasuke. That Sasuke acknowledged that he was his equal.
“ You know Sasuke, You wouldn't want some weak fool calling himself rival to you right? That is one of the reasons why I have been able to push myself harder. To be able to keep up with you, to be able to protect those I care about, to be able to show everyone that I am a capable ninja in my own right. To become the Hokage and have everyone look up to me. I said that I would never lose to you. I don't take back my words cause that's my ninja way. I also can't quit until you stop being a bastard, and that will never happen so I will keep going I guess forever.” Naruto smirked at Sasuke.
“ Yeah you keep telling yourself that moron. It won't take much to surpass you anyway considering you probably can't do it again.” Sasuke smirked right back at Naruto. Kakashi shook his head, somethings never change.
“ See what I mean? What a bastard! I am laying here like this and you still can't tell me to my face that I gave you a run for your money. I put you through your paces Uchiha, and that you can't deny!” Naruto said smugly and grinned when Sasuke scowled.
“ Okay boys if you have had enough posturing, we should be getting back to Konoha right about now don't you think?” Kakashi asked the two boys. Naruto and Sasuke nodded, and with that Kakashi used Kage Bunshin, directed his clone to pick up Sasuke, while he picked up Naruto, then started off back towards Konoha.
That was all 5 years ago, and lots of things happened in the meantime.
Life had changed for Sasuke more than he ever thought possible. Without worring about getting strong fast, he was able to grow to incredible heights in power.
He learned very quickly how to neutrilze the curse seal. With that out of the way, it let him focus on training himself without having to worry about it affecting him. He was still a genin, hadn't gotten around to being able to compete in the Chuunin exams.
Naruto was still a genin too, so that didn't bother him so much. In 5 years, Sasuke had come along way. The day of reckoning would soon be at hand. And this time, Itachi would have hell to pay.
Naruto had also come along way in those 5 years. His growth in power was so great, that it was nearly unmatched by anyone in the group of 12. Naruto and Sasuke were the two single most powerful shinobi in all of Konoha.
Only a select few held more power than them. Naruto however, never let anyone see his true power level. If they knew exactly how strong he had become, then they would start to fear him again.
Naruto was careful to never let anyone see what he was really capable of these days. Even Sasuke had never seen the 'real' power that Naruto had. But little did Naruto know, that things were going to get real interesting starting today.
Well Naruto is going to continue to be full of suprises, Sasuke will learn something new and Kakashi well we will just have to wait and see on that one.
