“Sakura, I need to know now, who did you want to pair up with for the chunnin exams?” Tsunade sat at her desk, which was for once free of paper and watched her student bringing a mouse to life.
“I think I’d take Hinata and Ino. Both of them are the only ones not chunnin in their teams and both are strong, in their own ways.” Sakura paused, “If Ino won’t team up with me though, then I’d take who ever.” Sakura knew she’d be ok if she had at least one of the girls. As for having an unknown on the team, as long as started training now with them, come the end of next month they’d be fine to do it together.
“Right, ask both girls then come back here with them if they agree. Dismissed.”
Sakura went to Ino first and was surprised by the girl squealing in delight at the idea. “With you on my team I’ll be fine for whichever stage is the team stage this year!”
“You’ll have to train with me to get our teamwork up to par. You do realize this.” Sakura regarded Ino with level eyes, making the girl shy away. “I won’t be trying to beat you up this time, but I will be demanding.”
“So you’re gonna train me like you did Hinata? Is she on the team too? Or are we getting a boy?”
“No, it will be Hinata joining us, I’m going to the estate now to collect her, and then we all have to report to Tsunade to make it official. Are you gonna come or are you going to meet us there?” Ino closed her door and motioned for Sakura to start moving instead of speaking. The trip to The Hyuuga estate was uneventful, for a while they had Konohamaru following them asking Ino for a date, but they just jumped to the roofs to avoid him and kept going.
Once they were at the Hyuuga estate they made their way to Hinata’s room and politely knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. Sakura thought over how best to approach the situation. She had the strength, smarts and basic skills. Ino had her possession jutsu and was a hellion if cornered. And Hinata was close range fighting and long range scouting. Of course she had no idea what the challenges were, but she figured she could rough something up whatever the situation.
“S-sakura, what is going on? We aren’t due to train until Monday.” Hinata looked nervously at Ino, and inwardly Sakura pounded her head on a brick wall at Hinata’s shyness, kunoichi weren’t shy unless the roll demanded it.
“It’s about the exam, we need a three person team, and will you look at that, there are three of us here.” Ino really did get to the point.
“Well, how about it Hinata? Three girls against the rest of the gennin. More importantly, three girls who have skills that are individually great as well as when used in concert?” Sakura didn’t bully, she cajoled. She and Ino were rather practiced at the good and bad interrogator routine.
“Hinata, look at it this way, your boys are chunnin and so are mine, and Sakuras are, uh, training with the sennin, so we’re your best chance.” Sakura flicked a look to Ino out of the corner of her eye to tell her that she’d done enough.
“Well?” Sakura didn’t waste words, she knew that Hinata would do it. Her knowledge was rewarded by Hinata nodding and stepping out into the hallway. “Ok, the Godaime wants to see us to make it official.

Once the new team 6 was created they headed to the training fields to work on how it would work.
“Ok, what ideas do you guys have? I want to know what you think will work, then I’ll tell you what I think will work and we’ll sort it out into a working group.” Sakura sat down and took inventory while the others spoke.
“I think that for any exam situations like the one we’ve had so far we should have Sakura do the answering for what she can, then I can use Body-swap to get the answers for both Hinata and I if we’re separated, while Hinata tries to scout what talent the others use by using byukagan. Then for the group fighting stage, Sakura and I can tag team the enemy towards Hinata and she can lock them up in their own bodies. And for finals, I guess we’re on our own?” Ino looked very pleased with herself for that. And Sakura could imagine why, that had been her plan.
“I-I have a problem with that.” Hinata was looking as though she wished she didn’t have to speak up. “I won’t be able to tell which type of jutsu they use, only whether they’re strong and where they most apply chakra.”
“Hm, that should do, then we’ll know who to avoid and where everyone’s weak spots are. Ok, shall we start with a quick spar?” Sakura noted how both girls winced, and realized that neither wanted to go up against her. “You two go first, then you can tandem me.”
“Alright, Hinata, shall we dance?” Ino stood and walked away from the other two to stretch and prepare. Hinata followed and began to prepare her body as well. Sakura wandered over to the edge of the field and settled in to watch.
