Chapter 2: Rejected Lurve

I don’t watch Naruto with English dubs. I watch it subtitled.

That being said, I’m not gonna pretend that I’m some expert on Japanese... the only thing I have to use is “sensei” for Gai when it comes to Lee, simply because nothing else sounds right to me after watching the show the way I have... and maybe “yosh”. Because... because. I like it. Sounds better than “ALRIGHT!” at least to my brain.

Apologies in advance for any mistakes I may have made, this is unchecked and written waaaay to late. Or early. It’s morning and I haven’t slept yet.

DON’T DESERT ME
Chapter2

Lee stood patiently outside the cute little house that was home to his love, a batch of freshly picked wild flowers clutched between his clasped hands. His round eyes watched the door unblinkingly and his mouth stayed in a relaxed straight line, but for the dip in his upper lip. Sakura would be out any minute now; her mother had said so… though, a minute had already passed. More around fifteen actually. The flowers were starting to lose their luster in the face of the merciless, hot summer afternoon and Lee was starting to feel somewhat less than fresh himself as the sun gradually wrung small beads of sweat from his skin. Standing in one place in these temperatures… and it was such a sunny spot too….

Of course his beautiful Sakura would live in such a bright, lovely place! Oh, but he would need to get her new flowers, these ones just wouldn’t do anymore… but what if she came out to meet him while he was away? How rude, to call for someone and then leave! He must wait- and when she came, he would apologize and promise her newer, better flowers!

Fist clenched and chin raised, Lee gave a sharp, determined nod; only to gasp and release the poor, innocent wilted flower that he’d unwittingly crushed. Just for that, he would double- no!- triple the number of flowers he’d give to Sakura next time. She would be amazed and flattered and maybe… maybe even leap into Lee’s arm and give him a hug! Yes!

Re-energized and blushing slightly, Lee straightened his back and stared at the door with renewed determination.

An hour later, Sakura’s mother went to step out the door, blinking rapidly at the boy still standing on the step. His eyes were large and expectant. Had he been waiting there all this time…? She gave him a pitying look. “Ah- I’m sorry, dear. Sakura left on a mission, didn’t she come by here….? Oh, she must have gone out her window-”

“Ah! No problem, Mrs. Haruno!” Flushing, Lee dropped the flowers and ran as an explainable lump of embarrassment spread through him, making his head and chest throb. He… he wasn’t upset with Sakura. No, it wasn’t her fault she had a mission! But…

“LEE!”

Identical pairs of orange and green-clad legs skidded to a halt, passing each other by inches before backtracking. Face still hot with disappointment, Lee turned on his heel to face his teacher, a wide smile stretching across his lips as he looked up at the taller man. “Gai-sensei!”

Gai stood proudly, chest stuck out and hands planted on his hips. A few leaves stuck to his tight green suit from his earlier morning jog in the woods. “Lee! We have…” He paused to grin, teeth glinting. “A MISSION.”

Lee’s eyes sparkled and his pointed mouth opened in gleeful surprise. “Together?! A mission with Gai-sensei!”

-

Gaara’s arms crossed as he leaned around the tree, just enough to be able to glimpse the two spandex-encased men if he turned his head just so… Lee and his teacher were talking animatedly, their combined voices grinding against Gaara’s nerves- but he had planned this. No. He had made a firm suggestion and Tsunade had pieced together the plan with him. He could do this, because in the end.... he would get what he wanted.

ReigningFire: That’s quite a review! I appreciate your input and I’ll try not to make the characters OOC if I can help it... I’m sure I’ll slip from time to time since, in the end, they’re not my characters, but you can rest assured there will be no... giggling (as soon as there’s a giggle, I tend to stop reading whatever I’ve gotten into, so I won’t be putting any in my work X_x). No matter what, I can’t promise Gai won’t be... odd. He’s very strange in the anime, I dunno about the manga, but I’m going to try and tone him down a bit since his character just comes out too crazy when he’s put down in word.

I got kicked for using AFF underage too... but I was told I was allowed to return once I turned 18 and now I’m good to go! *still embarrassed*

Anon: Yes, I know, but I was half asleep when I wrote the first chapter- and honestly, it’s fanfiction. Switching a couple ages is hardly the worst I could have done. Thank you for trying to help, if you weren’t just busting my rear. XD

Baddaytoday: Gaara? Pansy? ... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No. I promise, he won’t be a giggly girl. *wipes tear*

Shinigami24: Aw, I love Lee’s hair... and spandex is the new jeans! Of the... far... future... many lightyears... It’s coming back, trust me!
Well, I don’t like sticking characters in seme/uke roles, but Gaara will come out on top this time.

Stacy: Yosh! That’s the spirit!

Everyone else: I would thank you ALL individually, but it’s 4:14am and I’m just too lazy. Rest assured, I love you. With a burning passion. Especially YOU, in the short-sleeved shirt. Yea, you. Rawr. XD *goes to bed*
