The Rescue (aka 'Twas the Night before Christmas)
Part 2: The Rescue (aka 'Twas the Night Before Christmas)
Done in Sasuke's POV:
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Sound
Not a creature was stirring, no ninja around;
The traps were all set by the entrances with care,
In fear that the enemy soon would be there;
Shinobi were nestled all snug in their hideaway,
While visions of sweet victory held their sway;
And Orochimaru in his confidence and I in disgust,
Had settled down for our nightly thrust, (Eeew!)
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. (Safe)
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The night on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave cover of safety to objects below,
When what to my Sharingan eyes did appear,
But a charging figure, and eight of his peers,
With a burning red chakra that danced to and fro,
I knew in a moment that it must be Naruto.
More rapid than eagles the invaders they came,
And I chuckled and pointed and called them by name,
First Kakashi, then Neji, Shikamaru and Kiba,
Then Shino and Lee, and Gai and Jiraiya,
Through the first wave of defense! Past the top of the walls!
Kicking ass and taking names, watching Oto fall!
As fast as the green beast, they all made their way
When they met up with Manda, Boss Gama came out to play,
So up to the roof tops the invaders they flew,
First Kakashi and Neji, then Naruto too,
And quick as a flash, I heard on the roof
A thumping and bumping and finally a poof!
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Through the door came the dobe with crashing resound.
Dressed in orange and black from his head to his foot,
His clothes were all tarnished with blood, sweat and soot;
A bundle of shuriken he flung from his pack,
And he looked like sweet vengeance come to claim me back.
His eyes – how they burned, his chakra still firing,
His cheeks were like roses, I just stood there admiring.
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
He quirked a blond eyebrow, daring me to say no,
I sprang to his side, and to his team he gave a whistle,
Then away we all flew like the down of a thistle.
And I heard him exclaim to the Otokage one laughing last word,
Happy Christmas to all, and flipped him the bird.
Next up: The twelve days of Christmas.
