Jutsu: Intentions From the Forgotten Past – SasuKitu Fan Fic
The apartment was deathly quiet. Naruto stood outside Kitura’s door, just starring at it. He hadn’t tied his headband on yet, and his coat wasn’t zipped up either. His expression was hidden behind the shadows cast on his face by his hair. His mouth was down turned in a saturnine expression.
‘She hasn’t come out of her room since she got back last night…’ he said to himself.
Clenching his fists and biting his bottom lip the fragmented images she’d sent him upon her arrival ran through his mind, “Sasuke…!” he angrily whispered and punched his fist into the doorframe.
‘That bastard is going to answer for what he’s done!’ Naruto bolted down the stairs, picked up his headband and hurriedly tied it in place, nabbed a bite to eat, and took off out the door.
Kitura had been slouching against her door with one foot flat against it. She could sense Naruto on the others side. She heard him murmur something and then hit the wall.
Her hair hung down over her shoulders and in front of her face, she clung to herself and held back her tears, forcing her to tremble slightly.
‘How can I face anyone after last night…’ she covered her face with her hands and her sobs broke though. She didn’t hear Naruto’s heavy footsteps down the stairs and his slam of the door as he left.
Still crying and covering her face she slumped down to the floor.
~~*~~
Sasuke was slowly walking along a familiar trail in the middle of the forest to his favorite training area. His face showed boredom with his slouched posture and hands jammed in his pockets.
Then he sensed a familiar aura approaching. It was coming at him fast and didn’t feel friendly.
Whipping out a pair of kunai he sliced through the air around him, the quick movements ruffling his hair and clothing. The sound of metal clanging against metal echoed through the trees. Shuriken thunked into nearby trees and the ground.
“Tch, dobe…” he turned and said with a smirk.
Naruto leaped down from the trees and landed just down the path of Sasuke. His cerulean eyes burned and face was turned in a grimace. He clutched a kunai in his right in front of him and his left hand was clenched in a fist at his side.
“Sasuke-teme!” he yelled and charged ahead.
Sasuke clicked his tongue, still standing in a slouching position. His eyebrows arced down towards his nose, his dark eyes had a chilling glint to them, and the corner of his mouth arched up showing a couple teeth.
Dashing to meet Naruto Sasuke whipped out his own Kunai.
The scraping grind of metal on metal was greeted with growling on Naruto’s part, and a cool glare from Sasuke. They held their kunai in front of them and their hands shook with the effort of keeping up the pressure against the other.
“So, I take it you’ve heard from her recently?” Sasuke asked calmly.
Naruto shook with anger and his face reflected his emotions, “Why would you do something like that to Roy-chan!”
“Why?” Sasuke Scoffed and shoved Naruto’s kunai off of his and leapt back from Naruto’s follow-up punch, “because she’s mine.” He tossed the Kunai at Naruto, who deflected it with his own and then threw his at Sasuke. “And you can’t take her from me, Usuratoncatchi.” In turn Sasuke weaved to the side and dodged the projectile, his hands had returned to his pockets, the gleam in his eye not fading.
Naruto’s chakara flared as he stood in a ready position, “She’s a human being, you can’t own her, and she doesn’t belong to you like some possession!” His eyes had turned red and the pupils of his eyes stretched to slits.
Naruto launched his next combo of taijutsu attacks on Sasuke, who blocked and countered his attacks with ease but did not seem to attempt his own assault. “Hmph, You can’t know anything about us. I’ve known her a lot longer than you.”
Gracefully slipping out of Naruto’s reach, and causing him to stumble forward, Sasuke’s hands leapt into action, forming a series of hand seals in a blur, “Katon Gokakyu no Jutsu!” he called out as he took in a deep breath, held his thumb and index finger in front of his mouth, blowing out angry red flames from his mouth.
-------------------------------------------------------
“Tch” Kitura was hugging her knees and her fingers clenched the black material of her pants, ‘This is doing absolutely nothing beneficial.’ She stood up, the last of her tears dripping off her face to the floor. Wiping her face with her right hand she strapped on her thigh holster and put on her back pouch before leaving her room, ‘I need to find Naruto…’ she flinched, ‘…and Sasuke…”
~~*~~
They’d battled their way from the path, through the woods, and ended up in a clearing encircled by tall trees.
“Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!” Naruto called out, three replications popping up beside him. His clothing was now battle worn, but he was nowhere near ready slow down.
“Sharingan!” Sasuke replied, his eyes turning red with the triple comma shapes appearing. The dobe was putting up quite a fight… he didn’t think he’d need his Sharingan for this.
Naruto and his bunshin leapt forward at Sasuke, all four of them yelling their battle cry. Sasuke took up a defensive position, preparing for the right moment to strike. This was no friendly sparring match, both were fighting seriously. Blocking and countering Naruto and his bunshin Sasuke had his hands full. Likewise Naruto was putting his all into trying to land a blow on Sasuke. Neither of them noticed the approach of a member of their cell coming along fast.
A well-placed kick sent one Naruto flying, the bunshin hit the ground hard and disappeared in a puff of smoke. Another attacked at Sasuke from behind, but his fist was caught in Sasuke’s hand before it got close enough to do anything. A third Naruto was charging forward at Sasuke and second Naruto… but he’d gotten knocked back as the Naruto behind Sasuke flew at him, both disappeared in more clouds of smoke.
The original and Sasuke were left standing a short distance apart, panting and leaning forward, but still holding a ready-to-strike position.
“Matte!” a female voice called out from the trees.
Kitura leapt down from the canopy and landed neatly a couple meters from her comrades. She didn’t say anything more, but she just glanced from Sasuke to Naruto with an anxious expression.
“Roy-chan!” Naruto called out, he had a surprised look on his face, he was about to run over to her, but then he looked back to Sasuke. His face contorted to rage once more and he clenched his fists, ready to start the fight all over again.
A flash of surprised crossed Sasuke’s face, but it was soon replaced with a cool and nearly expressionless look. He turned his attention from Naruto and faced Kitura.
“Have you remembered yet?” he asked her.
Kitura blinked, she was holding a loose fist against her chest, “Nanda?” she blinked with a stunned expression while she had been looking at his eyes. His sharingan was sill activated, but his face shifted to a sad, disappointed look, “you really don’t remember… do you.”
Kitura felt her heart twinge at seeing Sasuke look this way. He seemed genuinely dejected. Her gaze flitted across Sasuke before they were down cast to the grass between them. ‘So there was a reason for his actions?’ Well, she hadn’t known him to be someone to act for no reason.
Naruto looked back and forth between the two, “Oi! Nandato, dattebayo!” His fists were clenched and in front of him. He hated being left out so suddenly. Him and Sasuke were just in mid-battle when suddenly he was ignoring him!
‘But still, it gave him no reason to force himself on me like that! But wasn’t the end result also partly my fault? She did end up giving in eventually…’ Lost in her thoughts Sasuke was slowly walking towards Kitura, his sharingan remaining.
Growling Naruto bolted towards Kitura and defiantly stood in front of her, glaring at Sasuke. He stopped a few feet from Naruto. His face expressionless, his posture relaxed, his chakara suppressed.
“Kitura.” He spoke so coolly, and rather quietly as well.
Naruto clenched his teeth throwing out his arms to his sides, his palms facing Kitura, still standing silently behind him. “Don’t even think of trying anything, Sasuke-teme!” Naruto warned.
Her eyes were shinning now, holding back tears she refused to let herself shed. Slowly she let her gaze rise up, trailing along Naruto’s orange and black jumpsuit, to the tail ends of his headband, up along the back of his head with his spiky blond hair. He was protecting her from Sasuke… a tiny smile crept onto her lips. ‘Even after…’ still holding her loosely held left fist over her chest, her right arm was rising up, slowly reaching out she was reaching for Naruto.
“Oi…” Sasuke’s voice almost seemed to crack, the depressing look on his face again.
Her hand stopped and flinched back a small distance.
Oblivious to Kitura’s actions behind him Naruto frowned at Sasuke, but didn’t say anything. He was a little confused as to why he wore that sad expression, but stayed on his guard.
Kitura finally let herself look past Naruto to Sasuke. His lonely expression made her breath catch in her throat.
“All those years ago… just before the festival. You and your family had come to visit mine. The Uchiha and Aisuryuu clans of Konohagakure and Hyougengakure.”
Naruto remained in his protective position in front of Kitura, but he tilted his head back to look at her, “Roy-chan…?”
Her gaze was tilted downwards, her eyes had widened, her mouth had dropped open, but she had a faraway expression. Something was coming back to her…
~~**~~
She chased a small boy as he laughed happily as he ran in front of her through the open field. He had black hair and wore a black t-shirt and white shorts, a circular red and white fan was on the back of his shirt. To their right the field sloped up, and there was a cliff coming up ahead of them, but she couldn’t see what was at the top of it.
“Roy-chan! Sasuke-kun! Matte!!” a child’s voice called out behind her.
She turned to see a little girl dressed in an ice blue shirt and navy pants. Her short brown hair was flying behind her as she ran with her left hand in front of her, as if she was reaching for something she couldn’t quite reach. She looked distressed and almost out of breath.
“Oi! Hurry up, we’re almost there!” the boy had turned around but never stopped moving forward. He had onyx eyes full of life, his expression was happy and excited, and his long black bangs draped down the sides of his face as he waved. Smiling he face forward again and kept running ahead.
“Where are we going, Sasuke-kun?” the young Kitura asked.
Looking over his shoulder little Sasuke replied, “I told you it’s a surprise! Now come on!”
“I… I can’t make it…!” the girl behind them cried out, and a soft thud was heard.
Kitura turned to see the girl had collapsed and was trying to catch her breath in the grass behind them. Feeling a little bad for her, but not wanting to miss what Sasuke-kun wanted her to see she kept on chasing after him.
They were just about to the foot of the cliff, but there was a small creek bed to cross first. Trickles of water still flowed through it, but it was possible to cross it without getting wet on the larger rocks.
Even at that young age Sasuke was gracefully hopping from stone to stone at a quick pace. But Kitura also crossed the half-dried creek in a quick, graceful manner.
When she’d gotten across and stopped to catch her breath Sasuke was already climbing up the cliff. The soft brown dirt shifted under him, but it didn’t seem to slow him any.
Kitura tried to follow in his direction, but the dirt was giving away under her faster than she could climb. Getting halfway up and sliding down a quarter of the way back down she started to get frustrated.
Sasuke leaned over the edge and smiled down at her, Roy-chan! You can do it!” he smiled down at her before turning around and disappearing from view.
Seeing her friend at the top already pushed her to want to get up even more. This time she used the large rocks jutting out of the cliff as stepping-stones and hand holds to get up.
Just as she was about to reach for the grassy edge her foot slipped and she started falling backwards. Letting out a surprised cry she reached her hand out to brush against the blades of grass leaning over the edge and shut her eyes.
But before she knew it she wasn’t falling anymore, and something was gripping her wrist.
Opening her eyes she saw Sasuke had grabbed her wrist with both hands and was struggling to keep her from falling.
“Sasuke-kun!” Kitura called out.
When she’d finally scrambled up the cliff edge, with Sasuke’s help, she laid out on her back in the grass and sighed, enjoying the cool breeze that was blowing through.
She heard Sasuke sigh beside her. Turning to look at him she saw he was sitting on the grass with one knee up, his forearm resting on said knee, and he was gazing out off the edge of the cliff. The breeze was blowing through his hair and his dark eyes sparkled in the afternoon light.
Sitting up Kitura shifted her gaze in the direction Sasuke was facing, she gasped. It was so pretty!
The cliff gave a beautiful view of the area; it was the highest point other than the treetops across the field from them after all. The trees bordered the farthest end of the field from them. To the right the creek ran in a semi circle from the forest, at the base of the grassy slope to the left, to the bottom of the cliff below them, to the river off on their right.
“Wow… this is so cool, Sasuke-kun!” Kitura exclaimed, “so pretty…”
“But not as pretty as you…” Sasuke quietly replied.
Kitura’s face flushed red, her head shot to the side in surprise to Sasuke, “S-sasuke-kun…!”
He leaned over and kissed her forehead, “I like you… Roy-chan. Promise you’ll come back?”
Shyly smiling and blushing she replied, “I-I like you too Sasuke-kun.” She tilted her head to the side, “I promise I’ll visit again!”
She leapt at him, making him fall backwards into the grass, and hugged him. He put his arms around her and let her lie on him.
“Will you stay with me when you come back?” Sasuke tensely asked.
“Hmm? Stay with you?” she kept her arms around him but looked up at him.
“I want you to always be with me, so we can be together forever. Just us. So, when you come back, please live with me.”
She snuggled into him, “Yes, I’ll live with you Sasuke-kun, when I come back.”
~~**~~
“Oi, Oi! Roy-chan!” Naruto was shaking her shoulders and snapped her out of her memories.
She looked up at him, his blue eyes looked worried, “Daijobu?” he asked.
“H-hai.” She replied to him. He stopped shaking her and pulled her into an embrace.
Looking over his shoulder she saw Sasuke again. His face looked bitter, and his body looked tense. His dark eyes looked as if they could burn holes into Naruto’s back.
Gently she pulled away from Naruto, but kept her hands on his shoulders. Giving him a small smile she made her way past him towards Sasuke. Naruto looked surprised and he reached out and put his right hand on her left shoulder to stop her, “Roy-chan!”
Not turning around she laced her right hand over his, getting a hard look from Sasuke, and gazed at the grass in front of her, “Naruto-kun, thank you, but I need to talk to Sasuke.”
Naruto clenched his left fist and frowned; “Are you sure-“ he started
Squeezing his hand and nodding she cut him off, “I’ll be okay, neh?”
Not quite approving, but believe in his teammate’s words he withdrew his hand.
Then looked to Sasuke, “You better not do anything!” he was pointing an accusing finger at him.
Sasuke just sniffed at him.
Hesitantly Naruto prepared to leap into the trees, “I need to train anyway… but I’ll be nearby if you need me, Roy-chan.” And with that he took off.
Sasuke looked too Kitura, “Do you remember yet?”
She let her gaze go up to Sasuke’s face. It seemed impassive, but his eyes showed a light she hadn’t seen in them for a long time.
“I… I think so.” She replied.
Something of relief and the beginnings of a smile crept onto Sasuke’s face.
“But don’t go thinking it changes everything!” She emphasized, and poked him in the chest, rather hard. “A lot of stuff has happened since then. And you’re still an asshole.”
He smirked, “Heh. You seem to have changed a lot since then yourself.”
“I AM still pissed at you for yesterday!” she screeched at him, “You bastard! How could you do something like that to me! You used your Sharingan didn’t you?!”
Sasuke got an exasperated expression on his face, oddly similar to Kakashi, “So loud. You’ve been around Naruto to long…”
“Idiot! Don’t start saying things like that! When I first came back to the village and met you again you said the same thing!” She was shaking a fist in the air.
“Heh,” was all he said before putting his hand under her chin, tilting it, and pressing his lips against her mouth.
Surprised she tore herself away, and her face was all red, “Teme! What do you think your doing so suddenly?!”
Keeping his expression serious, “Have your feelings really changed since then? I may not have remembered everything right away, but we both had tragedies in our past that probably helped overshadow what we talked about that day.”
“Are you trying to justify your actions by that?!” she cried out, tears were building in her eyes, remembering the destruction of her village, and the tragedy of Sasuke’s clan.
“I hadn’t intended to hurt you,” he took a step towards her, “but seeing you with Naruto everyday, knowing you had promised you’d live with me, to be with me, it was more than I could keep holding back.”
Tears slid down Kitura’s face, she swung her arm to slap Sasuke, but he caught her wrist just before she hit him.
“I want you. I refuse to allow that dobe to take you from me. You belong to me.” His tone had gotten cold, his eyes hard, and his grip was tight around her wrist.
“Bastard!” she struggled to get her wrist free, “Idiot! Stupid!” Her voice was cracking, “I don’t belong to you! You can’t own me!”
“Royalle-chan” Sasuke said quietly, slowly.
“Don’t call me that! My name is Kitura!” she yelled at him.
She stopped struggling against him, she slouched forward and her eyes were shadowed as she looked towards the ground. He was still holding her wrist in the air.
It was dead silent. Neither moved. The sky was partial overcast; there was a slight chill to the air. It was going to rain soon.
He let go of her wrist. She slowly pulled it back.
“I love you.” Sasuke simply stated.
Kitura didn’t reply. But she looked up at him. Her eyes still brimming with tears, her mouth quivering, her body shivering.
Sasuke’s face had softend. His right hand reached up and brushed the tears that had begun sliding down her face.
“I love you…” he repeated, and pulled her into an embrace.
Kitura let her arms slide around Sasuke, “I…” she hesitated finishing her sentence.
Keeping his arms around her, and letting her keep holding onto him, Sasuke pulled back a little. Briefly gazing at her face, Kitura would have sworn she thought she saw Sasuke smile a little, but he had so quickly pressed his mouth against hers that she couldn’t be sure.
Instead she let the thought slide and held Sasuke more tightly and returned the kiss.
