Chapter 2
Iruka’s dark eyes widened at the jonin. “What?!” He screeched. He rolled over onto his hands and knees and scrambled to get up. He bent over and started picking up random clothes hastily.
“Iruka-sensei!” A young boy’s voice said loudly. Iruka’s head snapped up to the door, and he choked on his embarrassment in his throat.
“Gack!” He put a pair of pants on, backwards. ‘No time to fix it!’ He thought to himself.
“Iru-ka-sen-sei“ The door slowly creaked open and a small head of blue black hair poked through the opening in the door. Iruka slid his chunin vest over his dark blue long sleeved shirt just as a pair of innocent black eyes settled on him.
“What’s taking so long? The girls are getting rowdy and chasing Shikamaru around.” Sasuke said as he pushed the door open all the way and stepped into the apartment. Sasuke looked his teacher over, Iruka was flushed pink, panting, and his pants were funny… not to mention he had no socks on, and his gloves were being held in his hands.
Iruka coughed into his fist. He took a second to compose himself. Then he brought his head up and looked at the Young Uchiha.
“Sasuke I thought I told you guys to stay downstairs.” He said sternly as he set his hands on his hips.
“Sorry sensei..” The young boy said. “But I had to get away from those stupid girls, and I needed to use the bathroom.” Sasuke looked around the apartment. “Where’s Hatake-san?”
Kakashi could barely contain his laughter as he listened through the door, imagining Iruka as he squirmed under Sasuke's all knowing eyes. Sasuke was quite the young man, if only he were a little older...Kakashi shook his head, he couldn't start thinking about his students like that. He tuned back into the conversation just in time to hear Sasuke ask to use the bathroom. He cursed and wondered if Sasuke would notice him hiding in the shower, which of course, he would. Only one thing to do. Kakashi grabbed a towel, wrapped himself, and swung the door open wide. He swaggered over to Iruka and wrapped his arms around the Chuunin. "Well, well, Sasuke. Always eager to learn I see." He winked at Sasuke while squeezing Iruka's shoulders tightly in a side hug.
Iruka tensed, and glared daggers at the jonin.
Nope, sorry, not in front of his students. The chunin shrugged out of Kakashi's grip, and went to stand behind the young Uchiha.
"There's the bathroom right there Sasuke-kun, please try to hurry." Iruka smiled and gently pushed the child to the bathroom. Sasuke looked over at Kakashi, who had a towel around his waist, but his hair wasn't wet.
"Hatake-san, how come you're wearing a towel but you aren't wet?" Sasuke asked curiously. Iruka turned a gentle shade of pink, which is an accomplishment, considering how dark his skin was. Iruka knew exactly why Kakashi was only wearing a towel.
"We, we must have interrupted him! He was probably just going to step into the shower." Iruka explained as he pushed the small black haired boy to the bathroom more. "So let's hurry and let Kakashi-san get back to his daily routines na?" Iruka said with a forced smile and false cheerfulness. 'JUST GO TO THE DAMN BATHROOM KID!' Inner Iruka screamed.
Sasuke looked at both of the older men, and shook his head slightly. He never got what grown-ups were always so... wierd about. He padded into the bathroom and closed the door.
As soon as Iruka heard the lock click, the smile dropped off his face and was replaced by a look of pure malice, and it was directed at the older ninja.
Kakashi scratched his head and gave Iruka a lopesided grin. "Aw, c'mon. Don't look at me like that!" When he saw the look he was being given wasn't going anywhere soon he headed into his bathroom. "I think I'll go put some clothes on now. The kids are waiting for us, afterall." He paused for a moment as he neared Iruka, but decided not to push his luck, and continued into his room. He closed his bedroom door and looked around for his ninja attire.
Iruka wanted to smile at Kakashi's lopsided general cuteness, but he didn't let himself. He'd dealt with children enough to know when someone was trying to wiggle out of some sort of trouble they were in. But Iruka softened as he saw Kakashi walk by him, and as Kakashi walked by, Iruka brushed his hand against the jonin's. So softly that he wasn't even sure it happened.
"IRUKA-SENSEI!!" A boy's voice shouted from the hallway. Iruka turned around and frowned as Naruto, closely followed by Akamaru, tumbled into the apartment.
"Naruto.." Iruka sighed as he leaned down to pick the small boy up. Sasuke came out of the bathroom, the sound of water running behind him, and walked into the hallway, completely ignoring the blond boy and the scarred teacher.
"Sasuke-kun, please take Akamaru the dog with you, and go wait with the others downstairs, we'll be down right away." Iruka said with an air of authority. Sasuke turned and nodded to the teacher. Iruka stood Naruto up and started dusting the boy off.
"Iruka-sensei..." Naruto said with his eyes slightly watering. "I think Sasuke hates me."
"Aw." There was nothing more that Iruka wanted then to take the small blond in his arms and comfort the pain out of the Kyuubi host. But he couldn't. "Suck it up Naruto." Iruka said as he patted Naruto on the shoulder.
"He's got a wierd way of showing affection." Iruka said with a smile. He probably gets it from his brother. Iruka shivered slighty at the thought of the older Uchiha, who was currently ANBU under Kakashi.
Kakashi strode into the room, this time fully clothed. He motioned everyone to the door, "Well, we best be going." He was careful to avoid Iruka's gaze as he led the others from his apartment. A short while later they had arrived at the field where todays lesson was taking place. Tsunade was waiting for them with an evil look on her face. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" She yelled at them. Kakashi knew how to handle this. He walked over to her and took her hand in his. "Iruka tried to jump me." He winked at her and grazed her hand with his lips.[/quote]
Iruka rolled his eyes and smiled at Tsunade. She smirked back at him, understanding that Kakashi was telling a big fat lie. Even though he wasn't really.
Iruka turned around to his students.
"Ino stop chewing on your hair. Shikamaru don't lay on the ground! Shino stop scaring Sakura with that spider please?" Iruka went through and set the students, straightening them up and keeping them in line.
"Listen up! One of the Legendary Sennin is here, and she's going to give a demonstration, with the help of Kakashi-sensei. She's going to show us what you can expect to get when you work hard and stick to your studies." Iruka turned slightly and motioned to Tsunade. "Her name is Tsunade-sama, and she is one of three Legendary Konoha Ninja."
Iruka turned to Kakashi. "Kakashi-sensei is the squad leader of an ANBU troop."
Kakashi raised his hand in a slight wave towards the group. He was all business now. "That's right, Tsunade and I are going to show you a few techniques. With any luck, one day you to will be able to use them." He nodded at Tsunade and they moved away from the group. "Alright everyone, make sure to pay close attention." Tsunade said to Iruka's students. They were going to start off with a flashy demonstration to get the kids' attention, and then move onto more detailed explainations. Kakashi raised his headband and freed the Sharingan while Tsunade readied herself. A short while later they were both using various attacks on each other while the children watched in awe.
Iruka stood back behind his students as they all looked on. Even the girls, who are usually preoccupied with gushing over Sasuke or picking flowers, were watching. The girls would cheer when Tsunade would show her incredible strength, and the boys would laugh as Kakashi would pull out Ichi Ichi Violence and read it every once and a while.
He smiled as he watched the goings on, but... his stomache started to feel a little queasy.
'Must have been the milk this morning...' He thought to himself as he lowered his hands to hover over his lower stomache. His insides churned harshly, and he couldn't help but wince and bend over slightly, but he covered it up by bending over all the way and sitting on the grass. He broke out in a cold sweat, and his stomache was feeling worse by the second.
"Damnit.." The teacher cursed under his breath. He tried to be inconspicuous by keeping his head up. But it was hard for one certain little blond not to notice.
Naruto looked back at his favorite person in the world, to notice that he was breathing heavily and looked weary. The small boy crawled over the grass and went up to Iruka.
"Iruka-sensei, are you okay?"
“Iruka-sensei!” A young boy’s voice said loudly. Iruka’s head snapped up to the door, and he choked on his embarrassment in his throat.
