“…Yes.” Elie said simply, as if it was the most obvious thing on the world. She felt their aurora grimace as she keep her head down.
The men quickly changed the subject for some unknown reason.
“S-sso…? W-hat’s your name g-girl?” one of the men stuttered. Elie didn’t answer as she gave a side glance at Itachi-sama, as if asking permission. Elie wasn’t surprised when felt his hand tighten around her small wrist and gently carved an ‘N’ answering her wordless question. She looked back down at the ground once Itachi-sama loosened his grip on her wrist.
“She does not have a name.” Itachi-sama said effortlessly. Elie side glanced at him again, radiating the words ‘Yes I do!’ he gave her a side glance back as if saying, ‘I dare you to say it in front of them.’. Elie quickly looked back down at the ground.
“Doesn’t have a name?! Everyone has one!” One of the men said outraged. Elie looked at him through her bangs, looking at him for the first time. The man took a few steps closer and kneeled down. Elie cringe and moved closer to Itachi-sama. “Aww, the girls scared of me.” The man mocked. Elie’s fist tightened around the kunai Itachi gave her, as she gritted her teeth. Then she felt Itachi-sama thumb slide up her wrist gently calming her instantly.
“What is it you wish to talk about? I would like to leave if you don’t mind.” Itachi said in a deadly voice.
“We will take all the time we want!” one of the men yelled. “You’re here for what we have to say not the other way around!” he finished.
“I suggest you hurry up then.” Itachi said clenching Elie wrist painfully hard. Elie leaned into his arm.
“Fine.” The man in front of Elie said as he pulled something out of his pocket. “Here.” He said plainly walking back over to where the other two men stood, waiting patently.
Itachi-sama read the note and before crumbling it and making it burst into a small flame.
“Our work here is done.” Itachi said more to Elie than to the others. He looked at the others before reaching for two kunai knives and throwing them with extreme speed into two of the men hearts, killing the instantly. The other man looked into Itachi’s eyes and froze unable to move a muscle.
“Kill him.” Itachi commanded, while releasing Elie’s wrist.
“How?” She asked, looking up to Itachi-sama. He pointed to his own neck before staring back at the man, who was seemingly sweating buckets. Elie pulled back her arm and opened her left eye, facing the man. Within seconds she threw the knife at the man’s throat, he gagged a little trying to get to the knife, but after a few seconds. He fell backwards. Whispering “Sharingan….” Before hitting the ground dead.
Elie looked up to Itachi-sama horror stuck, as a puddle of blood grew closer and closer to her. He placed a hand on her head; it comforted her and she could feel once again the cold excitement run through her veins.
“Come, we must go.” Itachi-sama said in his emotionless voice. He rubbed Elie’s head before turning and continuing through the dense forest, down its natural path way. Elie nodded in agreement before running ahead and jumping into a nearby tree, where she waited for Itachi to choose a path; he did and broke out into a run. Elie chased after him once again through the trees, not letting her tired state bring her down. It’s a test, she kept telling herself. Her legs burned after a few minutes and she saw the ending of the forest. She jumped down next to the now walking Itachi as she gasped for air. The cold night’s air didn’t help her much as she fell to her knees, unable to catch her breath. Itachi waited patently not turning to looked at the withered girl. Elie tried to stand up, but gravity was against her as she fell to her hands and knees again.
That’s when she heard a thump and swish of liquid in front of her; she looked wordlessly up to Itachi as he watched her intently. Sweat dripped from her face.
“Drink.” Itachi commanded. Elie shook her head. She remembered Itachi-sama’s rules of fending for herself.
“I-I… mu-ss-t… fee-nd, f-for… myself…” Elie said, as she gasped for breath.
“Take a drink so we can be on our way.” Itachi commanded. Elie shook her head again.
“…fee-nd, f-for…self….” She continued. She tried to stand to her feet only to clasp to her knees again. Itachi watched the scene as the little girl tried and tried to remain standing only to fall down over and over again. Itachi made up his mind.
He walked over to the girl and picked up his water jug and walked over to the tired girl still struggling to stand up despite her body telling her ‘no’. He opened the jug and lifted Elie’s chin so she was looking at him with her only open eye. He placed the jug to her lips and slowly lifted the jug up, as Elie drunk obediently. When he felt she was satisfied he pulled it away and capped it before placing it back at his side.
“There. Now come.” Itachi said as he stood and waited for her to the same. She tried and tried but still couldn’t get her feet under her. Why, why won’t they work?! I-I mustn’t keep Itachi-sama waiting! She thought as she continued to struggle on the ground panting.
Elie only looked up when she realized that Itachi was sitting in front of her.
“I-I’m trying… I can do it, please-please don’t leave, I can do it, Itachi-sama…” Elie said weakly. Itachi placed his hand on her head, quieting her, and her attempts to stand.
“You rest; I must remember you’re only a child.” Itachi said as he raised Elie in a sitting position. He then turned his back to her, still kneeling. “Get on.” He commanded. Elie shook her head. He glared back at her. “Get on.” He commanded again in a deadly voice. Elie did as she was told, this time a grabbed onto his shoulders pulling herself up. He did the rest and grabbed her legs, before standing up. Elie wrapped her arms his neck lightly, as Itachi started to walk slowly, making Elie sleepy, and not before long she was asleep
against his shoulder.
Itachi smiled the smallest of smiles, before it vanished. He walked into the night until he reached his destination; Akatsuki Head Quarters.
When Itachi had finally reached it, he wasn’t alone, someone, something was waiting for him. Before him stood a blue man, with what looked like gills on his face. Behind him, was a huge sword; wrapped in cloth. Itachi only stopped walking when he was a few feet away from the man.
“You’re not alone.” The blue man stated.
“No, I’m not. I brought a girl.” Itachi said as he showed his back to the blue man, where,
Elie slept soundly.
“The Akatsuki Organization won’t approve of this.” The blue man replied.
“They may not now, but they will once I train her. She will listen to my every command. For a street rat, she has exceptional aim, and she has already made her first kill, just few hours ago.” Itachi explained emotionlessly.
“First, eh? How old is she?” Itachi shrugged. “Do you even know her name?”
“No.” was Itachi’s cool reply.
“Hmm, well might as well come in…” the blue man was interrupted by movement from Itachi’s back.
Elie was some what awake as she cuddled more against Itachi’s back.
“How old are you girl?” the blue man asked, she looked up to him with her right eye.
Elie snuggled into Itachi-sama more before whispering, “Ten… I think…”
“Ten.” Itachi said a little bit louder, for the blue man.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Mmm, Elie…” Elie murmured.
“Elie.” Itachi repeated.
Elie stretched before yawning loudly. She slid down Itachi-sama’s back to her feet as she looked at the blue man with her right eye. “What’s your name, Mr. Fish-Face, sir?” Elie asked innocently.
Elie could feel the anger radiating off of the strange man. She cringed and hid behind Itachi, “That man has a temper, Itachi-sama, sir.”
Elie’s hand went across Itachi’s side as she went to grab a kunai knife from his pooch, which he allowed her. Once she had it in her hands she went back to hiding behind Itachi.
“Why that little runt!” fish face said. “The names Kisame, runt!”
Elie was pulled forward by Itachi, as she clung to the knife. “What? You going to throw that at me? I would like to see you try.” Kisame said in a menacing voice.
Elie’s right eye twitched. She went to pulled back to throw it but Itachi stopped her. What now? She thought again as looked at him. He pointed to his left eye, like he did countless times before. Elie sighed loudly, gaining a grimace from Itachi. She did as she was told and turned back to Kisame. Kisame’s eyes widen but that was the only change the came when he saw Elie’s one Sharingan eye. Elie pulled back aiming at Kisame’s neck, just as she was told to do earlier from Itachi-sama. She threw it hard and fast, as the knife cut through the air making a slight whistling noise. Before Elie could recognize what was happening Kisame’s sword was drawn to its full extent, Kisame held it in front of him protecting his face and neck from the blow. Elie looked at the kunai knife the struck the sword and fell to ground below.
“Impressive; for a runt.” Kisame said as he pulled the sword back over his shoulder.
“Sharingan, huh? I think we can expect great things from you.” And with that Kisame turned ushering the Older Uchiha to follow him into the Head Quarters of the Akatsuki, with Elie trailing behind them, not before she picked up Itachi’s knife and handed it back to him.
“I’m sorry… I missed.” The girl said innocently to her Sensei. Itachi ruffled her hair.
“Maybe next time you won’t.” Itachi encouraged, voice still emotionless, before entering the Akatsuki Head Quarters.
