Just hold on, we’re on our way!
A breeze blew across his face, blowing cold against his cheeks as he faced the gates of Konoha.
Hold on, I’ll be there soon to help you, I promise, so don’t die before I get there! Please! He thought to himself.
Naruto’s blond hair flew gently in the wind as he awaited the arrival of team Gai to begin the mission. He pulled out a kunai and spun it on his fingers, watching as people walked past him. He walked closer to the gates, and heard a voice behind him.
“Yo,” said the voice as the young Shinobi turned around.
“Huh? Shikamaru?”
“Yo Naruto-kun,” came another voice.
“How you doing Naruto?” said a soft female voice.
“Ino, Choji? What you guys doing here? Long time no see!” Naruto said, standing with a slightly bewildered look on his face.
Shikamaru opened his mouth and said, “Gai Sensei and his team have been re-assigned, there was a break out at the prison in the Hidden Mist Village, believed to be the work of some of the hidden mist legendary swordsmen, it’s troublesome but you’ve been assigned the mission to the clouds with us!”
“Why you?” Naruto asked, scratching his head, confused. “Why’d she change her mind?”
Shikamaru closed his eyes in frustration. “Because Naruto, she believes that this team, with me as the leader, is good enough for this search and rescue mission.”
Ino smirked and said, “Plus, with your track record she felt it important that you have a medical nin at hand, and seeing how Sakura is busy with Kakashi-sensei I’m the only free Chunin medical nin.”
Naruto tilted his head and smiled brightly. “You became a medical nin? That’s awesome Ino, wow to think both you and Sakura became medical nin.”
Shikamaru coughed loudly to draw their attention back. “Still got a low attention span eh Naruto? As troublesome as this mission is, we know how troublesome you can be Naruto, so this is a safety measure.”
Naruto let out a deep sigh, turning back towards the gate. The wind picked up again, blowing leaves around him, spinning in the air.
“I guess it can’t be helped, lets get moving, I don’t think we have much time. Oh, and if we should meet any Akatsuki members, don’t get in my way, they still have to pay for what they did to Gaara, and what their trying to do… I can’t let them get away with it,” he said angrily. He growled slightly, showing a slight appearance of fangs. He clenched his fist, causing blood to trickle to drip between his fingers. “Lets go.”
The daylight was beginning to fade as the sun set behind the canopies, with it came a chilling wind whistling through the trees. Shikamaru jumped, dropping to the floor from the branches, followed by the three others behind him. Shikamaru looked back towards them.
“We should rest here for the night, set off again at day break, it’s a disadvantage to continue moving in the lack of light. I don’t know about you guys, but this is my first trip to the Cloud village, and I’d hate to get ambushed cause we rushed into it.”
Naruto’s eyes widened with rage. “No, no we can’t just stop, what… what if they’re in danger? And the Akatsuki is already there,” his eyes bulged more with every word as his anger built.
Shikamaru sighed. “All the more reason to rest, what use would we be in this tired state, our senses are lowering all the time that we’re moving unless we get some rest, Naruto we’re exhausted!”
Ino opened her mouth, looking at Naruto. “Yeah, and unfortunately, we don’t all have your stamina so we need to get some rest”
Shikamaru nodded and said, “As troublesome as this mission is, I’d hate to have to deal with the 5th should we fail in our attempts, if the Akatsuki get another Jinchuuriki, the results would be even more troublesome”
“Plus Naruto-kun, Shikamaru is the one in charge. Tsunade-samma made him the leader for this mission, so you can’t go against him.” Choji reached into his bag and pulled out a bag of potato chips. “Plus I’m hungry.”
“You’re always hungry Choji,” Ino said, shaking her head.
“All the more reason to stop,” Choji grinned at her.
Naruto slumped to the ground, still consumed with anger. “Fine, but I’m not even a bit tire-“ His eyes shut as he passed out.
“You never change, do you Naruto, still the same Hyperactive, knucklehead ninja?” Ino wondered out loud before sighing with exhaustion. “Lets get some rest.”
Shikamaru nodded, “I’ll take the first lookout, then Choji and Naruto.”

Shikamaru was awoken by the sound of movement in the trees, hearing twigs snap and leaves rustle on the ground.
“How the hell did they get past my traps, they were flawless?” He muttered to himself, “Well, obviously not, Ino, Choji, Naruto, wake up and call in.”
“Ino here”
“Choji up and awake, and hungry”
“Who are they Shikamaru?” Ino asked.
“I don’t know, but whoever they are, they’re skilled Shinobi, they got past all my traps with ease - wait a minute, where is Naruto?” Shikamaru stood, looking into the blonde Konoichi’s eyes before turning to Choji.
“He walked off a while ago to catch some fish for breakfast.” Choji replied.
“Oh man, this is troublesome, be alert, and take shi-ino-cho formation.”
With that, a bombardment of Kunai came flying towards the three Chunin. All of them flipped backwards to avoid them.
Ino looked forwards towards Shikamaru, then to Choji. ‘How could be throwing them, they’re coming from all directions.’ She flipped backwards to avoid another batch, pulling out a kunai to defend herself. She looked up to see a black figure drop from a tree branch above her. Caught off guard she just managed to see another batch of Kunai flying her way, she tripped backwards over a branch and closed her eyes.
-CHING! CHING! CHING! CHING! CHING! CHING! –
Opening her eyes she saw someone standing in front of her. “Naruto?” she questioned, looking up towards his eyes to see a feral hatred in them, as well as a red glow.
The enraged Naruto looked towards at the fallen Shinobi, and at another who landed next to him. The Shinobi on the ground stood up. The men wore black robes with red clouds on them.
“I’ll kill you!” Naruto snarled. “I’LL KILL YOU!” He launched from the spot, running towards the two men.

Ino jumped as she felt hands on her shoulders. “Don’t worry Ino, it’s just us.” She looked up to see Choji’s smile.
“Shikamaru? Choji? Where did the others attacking us go to?” Ino asked.
“They were using Kage Bunshins to make us think it was an ambush so they could get to Naruto easier, but he managed to break the concentration of the one performing it.”
“Who are they?” Ino stood up, slowly trying to regain her composure.
“Two members of the Akatsuki organization, they’ve been following us for a while now, but I thought the traps would slow them down, even just a little, but I failed. This is troublesome, Naruto’s fighting them on his own, and they are after him as well”
Choji looked up at Shikamaru and said, “Why are they after Naruto-kun?”
“It doesn’t matter Choji, all that matters just now is we give him some back up, get into formation, NOW!”

“KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU!” a voice yelled as a group of shadow clones appeared around Naruto, two of them standing back. The rest ran head first into battle, throwing a flurry of kicks and punches towards the Akatsuki members.
In a puff of smoke the shadow clones suddenly disappeared in defeat.
“You must be the Jinchuuriki! He said you’d be the one who’d scream and rush in.” One of them spoke from behind the darkness of his hood. “We hit the jackpot, eh Tetsu? We came looking for one Jinchuuriki, but we’ve found another. You may be Itachi Uchiha’s prey, but I’m sure the boss will be happy no matter who brings you in, right Tetsu?”
The taller of the two stood silently, looking up into the cold red eyes of Naruto, glaring into the hate filled eyes of the Kyubi vessel.
“Don’t mind Tetsu here, he’s the silent type, whereas I on the other hand…” He faded from sight, appearing next to one of the two Naruto clones. “…I love noise.” With a swift kick one of them vanished in smoke. Tetsu smiled at the remaining clone, and said, “Making you the Jinchuuriki. ”
“Wrong!” a voice shouted from behind him. “Oodama Rasengan!” A huge ball appeared, slamming into the gut of the Akatsuki member, sending him backwards through a group of trees. Suddenly something fell to the ground next to Naruto.
Naruto looked up towards Tetsu who tried to move, but couldn’t move an inch.
“Shadow possession successful,” Shikamaru said, smirking.
Naruto picked up the fallen object to see a picture of a beautiful blonde girl.
“That’s the Nibi,” Tetsu smirked. “I’ll take her, then I’ll take care of you for killing my partner Zaru. He may have been a fool, but he will be avenged either way, just for the joy of killing you!” Tetsu disappears in a gust of smoke.
“Well, I’ve had better days,” Ino said, sighing.
Shikamaru nodded and said, “It could have went worse, and at least we now know who we’re looking for.”
Naruto still stood, enraged, eyes burning red. ‘Bring it on, I’ll kill you too!’ he thought, turning to Shikamaru. “We have to get moving.”
Ino poked him in the side, causing him to wince.
“OWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!”
“You’re in no shape to continue. I’ll heal you, then we can rest for a while,” Ino said.
Naruto nodded reluctantly. “I guess there’s nothing I can do about it. OK.” Naruto sat down on a rock, waiting to be healed. ‘We know who you are now, it won’t be long, and I’ll come and help you! Please stay alive long enough!’
