Disclaimer: This story starts off slow cause it would be kinda heartless to just jump into the lemon. Chapter 6 WILL have a lemon. I promise! Oh and if you flame me chances are umm.... I will see it once and that will be the last time I see it. This is my first fic and I am just trying to build it properly.

Chapter 2: The Courtyard


It had been about 2 weeks since Naruto had met Menma and he hadn't heard anything about the boy since. Although that didn't mean he didn't think about him periodically. He had just gotten out of one of his classes and was making his way to meet Lee, Sakura, Kiba, Shino, and Hinata in the courtyard to make plans on what they would do after school. As he got closer to the group he noticed an extra person with shoulder length pale blond hair and a lavender shirt. Unfortunately, their back was towards him so he couldn't tell who it was.

'Ino must have gotten a hair cut to follow some new fashion trend again' He thought to himself a small grin gracing his face. But as he got closer the person turned around and looked dead into his eyes. Naruto found himself locked in yet another intense gaze with of all people, Menma.

“Hey Naruto! Cool, you made it!! Come meet our new buddy!” Sakura yelled her arms waving in the air as she greeted her friend. Naruto nodded his face dumbstruck as he stared at Menma. Shino seemed to be the first to notice the reaction of the two and softly nudged Naruto in his arm.

“Do you two know each other already?” Shino said leaning toward Naruto as he gestured his head towards Menma. Naruto nodded, breaking the trance like lock he was in.

“Yea I met him about two weeks ago when Sai came over to keep me company” He grinned rubbing the back of his neck nervously a huge grin plastered on his face causing him to mimic a fox. That was when Ino popped up flinging her arms around Naruto's shoulders, her shriek caused a shiver to run up his spine. She began squealing something about having a baby shower for the boy. Just about every male paled. All but Menma his eyes seemed to have gotten as big as Lee's , if that if even physically possible, with the mention of a baby shower for Naruto. However, all the girls excluding Hinata were squealing and surrounding Naruto. Hinata moved closer to Menma seeing the confusion on his face and tapped him lightly on his arm. She looked up at him a faint blush on her face as she began to explain things to him.

“Um... I-I'm not s-sure if N-Naruto-kun wanted you to k-know but since I-Ino-san already blurted it out ...N-Naruto-kun's family is v-very 'unique'...and “ She was cut off at that moment when Kiba draped himself over her and finished her sentence. Flashing a huge grin at Menma.

“HE CAN HAVE KIDS!” He yelled up at Menma as he nuzzled his cheek against a very RED Hinata. She shyly nodded squirming in Kiba's grasp. Menma nodded in understanding and looked up at Naruto ,who just as Hinata, was very red. Who was Menma to judge, he already knew he was attracted to Naruto. Those two , Naruto and Hinata, looked like red stop lights at that very moment which made Menma laugh quietly but not quiet enough because the soft smooth sound caught everyones attention especially Naruto's. If possible that red stop light got even redder and Naruto quickly looked away. His actions did not go unnoticed by the group and they ushered him over the a wooden bench one to get him off his swollen feet and two because Menma was standing right next to said bench.

“Get off your feet Naruto-Kun the SPRINGTIME of youth within your youthful body needs all your Youthful strength.” Lee yelled out throwing his fist into the air . This caused just about everyone even by passers to stare at him with a groan of irritation. Naruto still didn't understand how his once childhood crush and Lee got together. But whatever it was it must have been deep because they were due to celebrate their 3rd year anniversary soon.

“Um...is that guy serious?” Menma leaned down and whispered to Naruto. Naruto snickered trying to keep quiet. That was exactly what he was thinking. Not to mention he was pretty sure Lee was taking some strange kind of energy pill to be THAT hyper all the time. It made no sense for ANY person let alone Lee to be so energetic . Of course Lee acted EXACTLY like his mentor Gai who also happened to be the dean of sport department at the university. One day Naruto planned to find out if the man was distributing some kind of drug to himself and his young charge. It just didn't make any sense to him. But anyways with Menma so close to him he felt that he was about to imitate that damn red stop light again so he shifted to his other side and smiled softly at Menma. His hand sliding down to the round bump in his abdomen once more. This caught Menma's attention and confirmed what everyone said was true. Curiosity getting the best of him he leaned down once again to talk to Naruto privately.

“Do you mind if I ask you how many months you are Naruto-Kun?” He asked softly his words gently caressing Naruto's ear. Naruto glanced over at Menma and couldn't believe what he saw. Upon that angel like face was the faintest evidence of a blush creeping upon his face. Naruto thought his heart stopped beating for just a second. This had to be proof that he wasn't the only one feeling something between them. He turned a little more towards the other blond and smiled a little bigger hand still on his belly.

“I am about 4 ½ months.” He beamed with pride as he told him. Menma was taken back by the brilliance of the smile he received from the boy. He couldn't help but blush a little more than he already was doing. Even though this was the 2nd time he had met Naruto he was utterly fascinated by the boy. He never met someone so, so Naruto. There were no words to describe the way he felt when he was around the boy. All he knew was he didn't want to stop those feelings. He wanted to get closer to Naruto. Be around him longer. Now he knew he wasn't regretting enrolling into Konoha University the day after he met Naruto.

“So now that the girls have decided to give Naruto a baby shower in the near future what about today?” Kiba chuckled as he walked over to Naruto and slapped him on the back playfully. Naruto jerked forward somewhat and cursed under his breath only to be grinning within seconds as the 3 girls descended on Kiba beating him to a bloody pulp for treating their Naru-chan so roughly. A weak and broken “I'm s-sorry” was all that was heard behind the bench. Everyone else laughing at the dog-lover's expense.

“Why don't we meet up at Spinelli's for pizza! We can call everyone else to meet us there.” Ino announced as she flipped her phone open and began calling Choji, Shikamaru, Temari, and TenTen. Everyone else nodded. Menma fidgeted for a moment when Sakura wrapped an arm around his shouldered and whispered in his ear. “You are gonna come as well aren't you? I think Naruto would really appreciate your presence. You are the first person he has responded to like this, in a very long time.”

Menma smiled and nodded to Sakura as he stole a few more glances at Naruto who was now looking behind the bench still laughing at the broken body of one of his closes friends. He shook his head in slight amusement and a little pity. Thanking his pregnancy because he would NOT be at the end of those 3's wrath. But then again they still were planning on throwing him a baby shower. Just then Naruto remembered he had to be at Tsunade's office later on in the week and he didn't want to make the trip there alone. He looked at his friends his face already telling them he was about ask something of them. In response they all seemed to get sly grins upon their faces and a silent conversation began to take place. At the end all looks had settled at one time or another on unknowing Menma. The conversation was missed by both blond boys.

“Hey um guys you think-” Naruto started but was cut off by just about everyone letting him know off the bat that after tonite they would be far too busy to do anything with or for the poor pregnant boy. A little dishearten Naruto began to pout that was until he heard once again that heavenly voice that could only be Menma.

“W-Well I am free tomorrow and I don't have much to do other than my classes for the rest of the week” He quietly said looking away from Naruto but stealing fleeting glances at the boy. Naruto smiled widely his huge blue eyes staring at Menma with unspoken thanks and promises of adventurous afternoon.

“Great then you wouldn't mind coming with me for my doctor's appointment tomorrow!” Naruto all but yelled grabbing Menma's hand with both of his causing Menma to blush furiously. The others around them began to snicker at each other as their plan seemed to have succeeded. Menma quickly forced his blush to go away and smiled warmly to the boy holding his hand as he nodded in agreement. The group made their plans for later that nite and quickly departed to get to their next classes. Naruto grinned from ear to ear until he got down the hall from the others. He felt the sharp pain of guilt shoot through his being. Was this right? Was it ok to be excited about someone else when it hadn't even been a year since he lost his only love? Not to mention said person he was excited about was coming with him to the doctors to check on his deceased husband's baby. He was so confused at the moment he almost walked past his classroom. Thankfully the teacher saw him and quickly got a hold of him before he went too far, snapping him out of his little world of turmoil. Naruto got to his chair and sat down deciding that it was ok to be attracted to someone but he would have to take it very slow so he could grieve his lose properly. Sasuke would want him to move on but he wasn't entirely ready to let go of Sasuke just yet. But he just couldn't stop thinking about Menma either. He would just have to take it as slow as possible. He didn't even know how Menma really felt about him. He knew the boy must be attracted to him at least a little bit because of the way they blushed when they looked at each other but then again maybe he was just shy around knew people. Either way taking it slow would prove to be the best thing for both of them if not more so for himself.
