Rainy Nights

Sasuke ran though the rain soaked streets of the village. He had to hurry. Once he reached the alley where that bastard said they ambushed Naruto he looked in. Empty.

Sakura came up behind Sasuke and peered around the Jonin

“Where is he?”

The only place where he could go is home, Sasuke thought. Turning to Sakura, "he probably went home. Why don’t you go back and let the Hokage know.” He disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Sasuke appeared outside of Nauto’s door. Pulling a small key from a pouch on his vest he opened the door. Luckily he made himself a key, he thought as he stepped into the dark apartment. The first thing he saw was the large piece of wood covering the window. He cursed as he made his way toward the bed that was pushed up against the far wall. Relief flooded through him as the unruly blond mop sticking out from under the blanket came into sight. Nearing the bed his foot hit something on the floor. He looked down and saw that it was a small bottle of some kind. He picked it up but didn’t look at it.

Staring down at the blond that had stolen his heart. He looked peaceful laying there, sleeping.

Sasuke couldn't shake this feeling that something just wasn’t right. He stared at Naruto more intensely. Reaching down his finger gently touched his cheek. Swearing loudly, he was ice cold!

Fear rolled through Sasuke as he looked at the small bottle in his hand, NO, NO, he didn’t!

Sasuke yanked the blanket off and gabbed Naruto’s shoulders, “Dobe, wake up!” He shouted.

Without waiting he picked up his blond and cradled him in his arms. He did a hand sign and disappeared.

Tsunade was still at her desk. Sakura had just left giving her news that Naruto had gone home. She was still worried about the little fox. Smiling, she knew he wasn’t little anymore but she just couldn’t help it. He basically was her only family.

White smoke appeared in front of her. She watched as the dark ninja stepped out holding someone.

“Naruto!” She shouted as she ran from around her desk. “Shizune, get in here now!”

“I think. . . I think...” Sasuke couldn’t form any words. He just handed her the small vial he had in his hand.

“Dear Kami, that’s the sleeping potion I gave to him when he had trouble..." Swearing the Hokage took the blond front Sasuke’s arms and carried him over to the cot she used occasionally. “Naruto, Naruto, what have you done,” she whispered as she went to work on bringing him back to life.

Shizune came in and Sakura was right behind her. They headed over to Tsunade.

Backing away from the med nin, Sasuke's back hit a wall; sliding down his body trembled at what just happened. Opening his hands he whispered, “useless. I couldn’t even protect him.”

~~(inside Naruto's mind)~~

’Kit.., kit...’

Naruto heard the fox calling him but he didn’t want to answer.

‘Why Naruto, were you not happy with your Ucihia brat?’

No response

‘Okay, I see then, you didn’t love him as much as I thought. So that’s why you . . .’

‘I love Sasuke with all my heart!’

‘Then why leave him alone?’

‘I want him not to have to worry so much about me- If he wasn’t with me he would be.’

‘He would be what?’

‘He would have a normal life.’

Kyuubi smiled at him. Always thinking of others and not himself. Even now, he
tries to leave this life so his dark lover can have a normal one.

‘Don’t you know that being with you is normal to him? He loves you; I can feel it every time he comes near.’

‘I’ll just make his life miserable.’

‘If you die, he would be miserable.’

Naruto thought about that. He could give Sasuke all the love in his heart but lie couldn’t give him what he needed to continue his clam

Kyuubi laughed.

‘Kit why worry about such trivial matters. Live your life with the one you love. That’s all you need to do.’

Kyuubi gathered Naruto close to his body.

‘Hey how’d I get in here?’

‘Your mind came to a place where you felt safe. Kit I will never hurt you. You are like my son.’

Naruto snuggled deeper into the fox’s fur and drifted off to sleep.

Kyuubi succeeded in anchoring Naruto’s life force. Not just for his sake but for his as well. He hated to see him go through so much.


I know, I know, not much action, lemon action that is. Bear with me this is my first EVER fanfic and a M/M to boot!!!!
