Better Than Drugs

Naruto sat at the bar and talked to Ino as she prepared the bar to open. Once the customers came in it got crowded fast. After about an hour Ino got a call. She cursed once she hung up, "Ne, Ino what's wrong?"

"Jackson my bartender just called in sick. Now I'm stuck behind here by myself." Turning from him she walked the bar refilling orders. She was getting backed up when a familiar presence came beside her. She knew Naruto came around the bar to help.

As they both worked the bar they could see Gaara get up on stage.

"Thanks for coming out to the Sands. Now, let me introduce the house band Kunai and their new singer Sasuke!" He shouted over the mic.


Sasuke stood looking as the rest of the band went out on stage. "Just breathe," he told him self as he followed them out. The lights nearly blinded him but he made it to the mic stand.

Neji could see the hesitation, smiling he walked over to him, "just relax, you'll do fine. Just focus on something in the audience to keep your nerves calm." He told him.

As the club got quiet Kiba counted them off.

"1, 2, 3. 4!" he shouted.

Shika started off with his guitar, and then Neji joined then Kiba. The beat was intoxicating to Sasuke. He closed his eyes as the guys came in on there parts. When his time was coming up he opened his eyes and focused on the Blond man behind the bar.

He smirked as he sang:

Licking his pale lips, his eyes stays connected with the blonde….

Naruto stared back at the raven haired man on the stage. What was it about him that he couldn’t take his eyes off him? His voice was so mesmerizing.

Ino smirked at the blond and knew that there was a helluva lot of chemistry between those two.

Sasuke looked deeper into sky blue eyes, losing himself…

Naruto was at a lost for words. Those dark eyes of his drew him directly into their shadow depths. He actually dropped the glass he was holding as he stared at the dark haired man on the stage. Ino smiled as he moved him out the way so she could clean up the mess.

Gaara walked over to the bar and took the offered shot from Ino. He down the liquid then turned toward his blonde friend.

"Where did you find him?" The kid was amazing. His voice smooth with an edge to it that will have every woman in the place wanting him.

"I actually just met him today." He told him, not taking his eyes from the stage as the band performed another song.

Shaking his head, "Only you," was all he said and went back to his office to draw up some contracts for Sasuke to sign.

Sasuke's mind was reeling from the lights, the heat the people and the music. The songs were freaking awesome! They held a message in every one of them. Their last song actually hit home for him. He looked again for his blonde savior. He could see he had moved closer. Those blue eyes seemed a little glazed over…

As the band played he looked directly into those crystal blue eyes of his and sang.

Sasuke looked directly into those inviting cerulean eyes. Even though they’ve only met that day, he felt a connection with the man.

Once he finished the club erupted in thunderous noise for the band. They clapped and stomped their feet in approval of the band and their new lead singer.

Naruto stared at the stage until the band left. What the hell? He wondered as he sat at the table. Shaking his golden locks he stood and headed over to the bar to help Ino clean.

Ino smiled as she saw the blonde walking her way. Those eyes of his are truly the windows to his soul she thought. There were emotions of fear, regret, and sadness showing within those blue depths.

Reaching the bar Naruto started clearing all the mugs and glasses off the bar. His mind was in a whirlwind of torrent emotions. He only met the raven haired man today but every time he looked at him he felt something in his chest, tightening. He turned from the bar and dropped onto one of the stools looking down at the floor hoping that the hardwood floor would provide him an answer to his feelings.

The Sand was closing so a few people lingered but soon wandered out. Gaara locked the door and turned toward the bar where he could see Naruto sitting on one of the stools staring down at the floor. Only snapping out of it when Gaara sat down beside him.

"So, Naruto, you wanna read over his contract?" Gaara asked.

"Na, he needs to look it over first. Hey, Gaara, can you tell Sasuke good luck from me. I have to get outta here," he said as he stood. But he didn't get far.

"Dobe, where are you going?" Sasuke looked at the blond’s back. Was he leaving? Wait a minute, why did he care?

Naruto turned to see questioning dark eyes. How can he stay, “I need to get going.” Smiling the brightest, fakest smile he had, “didn’t I tell you that I had a way for you to make the money you lost back.” His eyes leveled to find the raven staring at him.

Sasuke knew it was too good to be true. Everyone he had a connection too, either died or left him. So it would be best to keep a distance between them. Smiling, he walked over to Naruto and held out his hand, “yeah you did. Thanks.”

Naruto looked down at the pale hand. He reached out and grabbed it. At the moment both men felt a slight shock when their hands connected. Both brushed it off as just being just static electricity. As they released their grip, their palms were tingling with the feeling of the others hand.

Naruto backed up, “I gotta go,” he whispered as he turned to walk out the club.

Sasuke didn't want to see him go. He enjoyed his company. So he did a very unUchiha like thing, "Naruto wait," he said just before the blond walked through the door.

Naruto stopped but didn't turn around.

"You want to have lunch tomorrow. I just want to thank you for finding this job for me."

The blonde turned around and smiled, a genuine smile at the raven, “sure. I'll meet you here at one. 'Night," he said and disappeared through the door.

Ino stood behind the bar and looked after the blond. Shaking her head her blue eyes turned to find the raven haired boy staring at the door. Smiling she was hoping that Sasuke was the one to help Naruto forget his past. The dark haired man obvious had some issues in his past as well. Ino just hoped they helped each other.

Gaara walked over to Sasuke, "so kid, you ready to work here on a full-time basis?" Gaara asked him as he smiled at the look of astonishment on the pale man's face.

"Seriously?"

"I would be a fool to let you go. You are the best singer that I've ever had. Come on, I've got some papers for you to look over and sign." They headed back to his office.

I've pictured Sasuke up on stage sing Life is Beautiful for the longest so I just had to put it to paper. Hope it's ok.**biting nails**
