Chapter 2

I love everyone who has read and/or reviewed this piece! Remember, in order to understand why the story is written this way, you should have read trulywicked's original piece "Missing Valentine". My story follows hers; but from Naruto's POV. I'm still hoping to make my chapters slightly longer than hers...I'm wordy that way.

Please enjoy the chappie and review if you loved or hated it!

‘I have got to hurry…Sasuke will be ubber-pissed if I don’t get back soon.’ Naruto thought to himself as he leapt from tree to tree for the village. Naruto was grumpy when Tsunade sent him out; but, she didn’t know about him and Sasuke. No one did, much to Sasuke’s disappointment.

FLASHBACK

“Teme…stop it! Dinner is going to burn.”

“Usuratonkachi…” Sasuke mumbled into the tanned neck as he nibbled.

Naruto sighed. He reached out towards the stove and removed the pan of beef yakisoba. Sasuke had been surprised to discover that Naruto had many culinary skills that didn’t just center on ramen. Well, he knew that Naruto had skills when it came to chocolate but he was still surprised when Naruto made meals that even a five star chef would have been jealous of.

Naruto turned towards Sasuke and leaned in towards the raven-haired avenger. He had a feeling that tonight would be bad because Sasuke had THAT look on his face. Sasuke grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the living room.

“Sasuke…stop! I’m trying to get dinner done so we can spend a little quality time together before I have to leave.”

“Well, then, don’t leave. Stay with me for the rest of the night.”

“You know I can’t do that. What would the villagers think? The last surviving Uchiha heir and the ‘demon-brat’, together as a couple. We both know that the council would have kittens if you don’t find a wife and ensure your family’s Kekkeigenkai gets passed on,” Naruto sighed. He was right; it would be one of those nights.

Sasuke growled, “I don’t give a flying kunai DAMN what anyone thinks! You’re the only reason I even came back to this village. It took a long time for me to figure it out and I want to make up the lost time to you.”

Naruto smiled sadly; he knew that there would be no reasoning with, or talking to, the Uchiha when he was in this kind of mood. With both hands, he reached out for Sasuke’s face. Slowly, he drew Sasuke forward and planted a soft kiss on the scowling lips of his beloved. He dropped his hands and turned for the door.

“Good night, Sasuke. I’ll see you on the training grounds in the morning.”

“Wait…what about dinner? Please, don’t go.”

Naruto shook his head and left without saying another word.

Naruto winced at the memory of the following day, after he had left. Sasuke was in rare form; he had been very angry, but not at Naruto. No, Sasuke’s anger was directed towards the people who would see them apart. But, much to Naruto’s relief, there were no more uneaten dinners and lonely nights, tossing and turning, with unfulfilled desire. Sasuke did jab at him every once in a while but they were happy. He smiled as the village came into view. Good, he had some time to make Sasuke’s valentine and figure out where the Uchiha was hiding. He had made a decision and couldn’t wait to share it with his teme.

He almost laughed out loud some time later. The training ground was practically destroyed, lots of kunai and throwing stars embedded into the trees surrounding it, and Sasuke was at the center of destruction. Naruto huffed when he saw the usual mob of fan girls hanging around his teme. As he reached for a scroll, he remembered a conversation they once had, several months after they had become an unofficial item.

“Sheesh…how can you stand all the racket?”

“Hn.”

“Seriously, why do you let them just…stalk you like that?”

“Hn.”

“Is that your answer to everything?”

“Well…what do you want me to say? Besides, it’s not like I have anything, or anyone, to discourage them.”

“That is so not fair. You know I’m not ready to let everyone know about us.”

“Hn.”

If he had not made up his mind before, the stupid fan girls made up his mind for him. He scribbled an angry message on to the scroll, tied it next to the valentine and hurled the kunai with all his might. He grinned savagely as the kunai cut the obnoxious fan girl and sank deeply into the bark of the tree.

“S-Sasuke-kun, is that true? Are you taken?” the injured fan girl queried.

“Yes, and it’s none of your business who my lover is; now, get the hell out of my sight.”

Naruto smiled as Sasuke reached for the rose shaped valentine.

‘Knowing my teme, he’ll notice that this one is different from the others. I wonder if he’ll get the point.’

Roses are red;
And, sometimes, they’re thorny.
When I’m not with you,
I get really…

Naruto almost laughed out loud at the expression on Sasuke’s face as he opened the valentine and read:

Corny.

I know what you were thinking; shame on you. I’m home, as you can obviously see. Come to Ichiraku’s and give me my welcome home kiss; if you want to let everyone know about us.

Happy Valentine’s Day. Love your Naruto

Naruto bolted as Sasuke grinned and teleported to Ichiraku’s. Naruto prayed that Sasuke wouldn’t keep him waiting long.
