A talk, memories, and confessions
I hate going to these parties, but I knew I had to come. There was only one reason, or actually, a person. This person was the Mizukage, Muka Momo. All my life, every time we’d come to the parties, Momo would flirt with Tou-san, and mom would be miserable the whole night because she couldn’t beat up Momo. Of course, having a “evil little girl” as I was called had it’s benefits. I always found away to get Momo, a lot of my plans having been plotted with Mama.
Now, I sat back and let it happen. I could never have my father, so I’d deal with a step-mother as terrible as Momo if dad was happy. Though, this decision didn’t make me happy, I guess I could find someone. I knew there were guys that wanted me and didn’t hide it. “I hate her.” I looked down at Kioshi. “Mizukage-Hag, when do you think she’ll take a hint?”
“Kioshi, mom’s gone, dad’s been alone for three years.” I sighed.
“He’d got us.” reminded Aiko.
“There are some things that we just can’t do for him.” No matter how willing I am to do those things.
“Well, he can get it from someone else.”
“If he’s attracted to the bitch, we’ll have to deal.” I sighed. “And if she turns out to be a Cinderella step-mom, we push her down the stars.”
“Look, he’s walking away from her!” cheered Aiko, making a few of the others in the room stare, they weren’t use to loud noise except for the Hokage’s family.
“She’ll be the step mom from hell.” I looked behind me to see Uzumaki Yuriko.
“Like I said, stairs.” This talk wasn’t helping my resolve! That stupid green fucking monster.
“What if he turns out to be like the dad in the original Cinderella.” reminded Yuriko.
“He could take her side on everything, and forget all about you three and have other kids.” said Yuriko’s twin brother, Arashi, showing up beside his sister.
“I hate you two so frigging much.” declared Kioshi, who then went to spy on dad no doubt with Aiko.
“What are you going to do, SA?” asked Yuriko.
“I’ll support my dad no matter what as long as he’s happy, and my life doesn’t turned into Emo Cinderella.” Yuriko sighed and leaned on the wall next to me.
“But what will you do if your not happy? Will you just settle for a guy your not in love with?”
“As long as daddy’s happy, Yuriko. We’ve talked about this.” Yuriko always knew about my feelings, she was the only one I talked to about this.
“You’re my friend, I want you to be happy, and he’s your dad, so he must want you to be happy.”
“Yuriko, I’m 15, dad’s…older than 15.” I didn’t actually remember how old my tou-san was, it depressed me when ever I thought about how much older than me he was.
“Does it matter? Not many people I know are with people their age. Satoshi’s a year older than me, Kenji’s three years older that his girlfriend, who’s your cousin, and…”
“I get it, but this is a couple of years. What I’m talking about is my FATHER who is 20 years older than me!”
“You’ve never done anything by the rules. Be jealous, yell, let your feelings be known!”
“Why do I talk with you? I always end up in trouble.”
“Just think about it.

“Sande, help your dad with your brother and sister while I’m on mission, okay.” ordered Mama.
“Of course, mom, I’ll take good care of ‘em!” I assured. Kaa-san kissed my forehead, hugged Kioshi, then kissed Dad. Finally, she handed Aiko over to dad.
“Don’t cry too much, your daddy needs to sleep.” She kissed Aiko’s forehead, and gave us all one final hug. Mom always hated going away on mission, but it was part of her life she couldn’t give up.
“Good-Bye, koi.” Tou-san kissed her one last time. “Come home soon.”
“Of course!” Mama put her mission pack on and left.
“She’ll be home soon.” I patted Daddy’s shoulder. I took Aiko from his arms. “Nappy time, lil sis.” Aiko giggled a little and tugged at my hair.
I’d lied to dad, mom didn’t come home soon. Finally, after nearly 2 months, someone from her team made it back. The whole team had been slaughtered on the way back by Grass-nin and he left for dead.
Dad was devastated.
Kioshi cried all the time.
Aiko didn’t understand.
And I lost what was left of my childhood.
I rolled over in my at the moment useless bed. When I slept, I was plagued by dreams of my father and when I was awake I was plagued with memories of my mother. I loved her, she was everything I ever wanted to be. So strong, so brave, so understand, everything I wasn’t. I hate that I was trying to take her place.
I sat up and yawned. Damnit, I was never going to get some sleep. I should have saved my one day a month for tonight, I really wanted to have a dream after seeing Tou-san with Momo.
I got up and walked into the study, deciding I’d start rereading some book. In my 15-years I’d read ever book in the room, and almost all the interesting ones in the Public Library. My cousins were always asking how I remember all the things I read.
“Sande-Ayame, what are you doing up?” I turned around to look at dad, who was finishing up some paper work on his desk.
“I decided to read something.” I looked at the stack of papers. “Do you need help with those?”
“No, go on and read, otome (Otome - Daughter; also means virgin but he means Daughter).”
“Okay, daddy.” I grabbed a book off the shelf, a sappy romance one I’d read a few times in the past 3 years.
Gaara POV
I watched my daughter grab her book and sit in a chair in front of me. She opened it and started to read. Other Politics had always commented about how smart she was, but really it was just all the books she’d read and how blunt her mother had been.
It hurt me, not to think about her, but that it didn’t hurt. I felt guilty that I didn’t miss her as much. Kankuro’s wife past on almost 8 years ago, and he still won’t date. Also, I felt guilty of who I was having feelings for.
Not that bitch, Muka Momo, I’d always detested her.
Not any of the girl Temari tried to get Kankuro or I to date.
Not Temari, I think my wife may have liked that one. If anyone had to take her place I’m sure she’d want it to be Temari.
Not my former student, Matsuri, who was happily married now.
Not Uchiha Sakura, or Inuzuka Ino, or Uzumaki Hinata, who were also all married.
No, she’d just yell at me, and beat the hell out of me if it were any of them, save for Muka who’d she’d murder me if I fell for, and Temari would be her first choice (Which scared me).
But for who I’ve fallen for, she’d be crushed. Who I’ve fallen for was everything she’d ever wanted. Who I’ve fallen for is sitting right in of me.
“Daddy, what are you staring at?” She asked, snapping me out of my trance.
“I’m sorry, Sande-Ayame, I was thinking.” I went back to my paperwork. Sande-Ayame stood up, and leaned on the desk in such away that I could see very clearly down her black tank-top.
“What about?”
“Nothing.” She pouted.
“We used to talked about everything, Gaara-tou-san.” she sighed. “But ever since mom died, we haven’t talked at all.” I sighed myself, then looked back down at the papers.
“I was thinking about someone I’ve fallen for.” I answered, as unsuspicious as I could.
“Who is she? Muka Momo? Or one of the girls Aunt Temari has tried to set you up with?” Sande-Ayame asked.
“None of them, my otome.”
“Then who?” She twirled her hair around her finger.
“I’m not sure if I can tell you.” I couldn’t tell Sande-Ayame, she’s my daughter. She needs to grow up and fall in love with a boy her age. I don’t care if it’s one of her cousins or that damned Inuzuka Boy. I don’t even care if it’s a girl, like the little Uzumaki one, their pretty close. It just can’t be me. I’m her father, I shouldn’t want her.
“You can tell me anything, I’m your little girl and I love you.” She never refers to herself as my daughter, which didn’t help one bit.
“Not the way I love you.”
Sande-Ayame POV
Oh shit! Does he know? Did he hear me talking to Yuriko? Or did that damned Uzumaki blab? “W…what do you mean?” I asked worriedly. “And tell the truth.” Dad stood up and pulled me up.
“Sande-Ayame, I’m honest with you about everything else, let me lie just this once.” He pleaded.
“I don’t believe in lying.”
“You do it enough.” Damnit! He knows me way too damn well.
“Go with the mom-”
“Fucking stuff it, Shukaku!”
“Little white lies, that I might add, you can easily see though.”
“I’m sure you’ve hid something big from me before.” Damn Dad, damn him to hell.
“If I tell you about all my lies, you tell me who she is.” I bargained.
“Deal.” We shook hands.
“You first, daddy.” He glared at me.
“Of course.” He leaned forward and lightly brushed his lips against mine. “There is your answer.” I smiled, and probably would have jumped over the desk if there weren’t some many things I could break on it. I settled for leaning forward and kissing him myself.
Now, I sat back and let it happen. I could never have my father, so I’d deal with a step-mother as terrible as Momo if dad was happy.
