An ending and a beginning

Shikamaru sat on the ground on his favorite hill, deep in his family's forest. When he heard rustling in the shrubbery he sighed, knowing that only a handful of people could find this hill, and only one would actually bother unless it was an emergency. He had hoped he would have a couple of hours to ponder his predicament. Heavy footsteps walked in his direction and his boyfriend and lover of 3 years plopped down beside him, without his chips for once. They sat in silence for a time, simply looking at the clouds and enjoying the feeling of sunshine on their backs. Finally Chouji cleared his throat and said the words Shikamaru had been dreading to hear since they had started fucking Neji and Lee a few months ago.
"I see the way you look at him."
"Chouji, let me-"
"Do you still love me?"
"You know I do, but-"
What about him? Do you love Neji too?" Shikamaru was silent for a bit, then sighed and answered, just one word so he wasn't cut off again.
"Yes." Chouji nodded and fell silent. He seemed to come to a decision.
"Neji feels the same. He cares for Lee, but not in the way he cares for you." Chouji had confronted Neji first? Shikamaru hung his head. "I can arrange for my family to build a home for the three of us, but it would have to be in your family's forest. It's one of the only places Hiashi can't enter freely. But you and he must deal with Lee. I don't care if you give him a pity fuck, but he deserves to know, the sooner the better." Chouji leaned over and gave him a kiss on the forehead, then got up and left, running with chakra so the lazy nin wouldn't be able to catch up to him easily.
Shikamaru smirked, Chouji was always forgetting his transportation jutsu. He formed the hand signs and poofed himself to outside Lee and Neji's apartment. He smoothed his shirt and knocked on the door. It was slowly opened by Lee, whose face was red and streaked with tears.
"You want him? He's yours! Fucking bastard took off when Gai-sensei showed up." Le screamed at him. Gai came out from the inner room and wrapped his arms around his former student, trying to calm him down. Lee raged against his teacher's hold.
"You better leave quick, kid. Let me handle this." With that the strange man slammed the door in Shikamaru's face. He blinked and tried to think of where Neji might be hiding. He closed his eyes and sought out Neji's chakra, a pale blue with an angry feel to it. Even when Neji was happy, his chakra was angry. There it was, alone on top of the second hokage's head. He formed the hand signs again and found himself high above the village. He walked over to Neji and sat close beside him. Neji turned and buried his face in Shikamaru's chest, and Shikamaru stroked the back of Neji's head to soothe him. Sniffles rose from the usually stoic ninja but they gradually lessened.
"The first thing he did, the FIRST BLOODY THING, was call Gai to come rescue him. I tried to explain it all to him, but he didn't give me a chance. I think he's been looking for a reason to leave me so he can fuck his precious sensei. I've seen the way they act with each other when they think I'm not there." Neji rested his head on Shikamaru's shoulder. "Chouji found you, I take it?" Shikamaru nodded.
"He didn't react the way I thought he would. Then again, Chouji has NEVER reacted the way I thought he would." He thought back to the day of their first kiss, he had done it spur of the moment and Chouji had wrapped his arms around him and returned the kiss instead of flattening Shikamaru like he thought he would have. Neji nodded as well.
"He came to me and asked if I really truly loved you. Then he asked if I would be willing to live with the two of you, if you agreed to it. I think he knew the whole time that you still love him. He wouldn't let himself hope but I think he knew." Neji shifted a little to get more comfortable on the rock.
Miles away Chouji sat in HIS favorite place, the one no one knew about. Sure, he could be found with a little effort, but really, who would believe the heavyset ninja would enjoy being high above the forest in a tree? Sure, he had built a platform up here, but still people wouldn't expect it. He sat in a meditative position, eyes closed, enjoying the sounds that came from the forest below. He knew that Shikamaru had begun to have feelings for Neji soon after they had begun having their 'playtimes', but Shikamaru hadn't acted any less affectionate to him, if anything he had been more. Chouji wanted to keep Shikamaru, and he wanted him to be happy. He liked Neji well enough, both in and out of the bedroom. He supposed he would grow to love him in time, as long as the long haired boy was willing to try to love him too. There were rumors whispered in dark corners and alleyways that Genma, Raidou and Ebisu had been lovers for years. Chouji sighed and let his thoughts drift to the house he was already planning, one story with wide doorways and 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus the standard kitchen, living room and dining room with a den hidden along one wall. Plenty of room for all of them, their stuff and if there was ever a need for a guest to stay with them. He smiled and opened his eyes, watching a butterfly drift by. Today was turning out to be a very good day, indeed.
