“There’s no reason for you to go in there, spoke Danzo firmly as he stood in the way of a much younger version of Sai. “But…But I have to finish this and give it to him before he…he…”, argued the child weakly as he held onto his small, hardcover drawing book. “I’m almost done and…” The small ninja-in-training was cut down by a heavy hand that slapped against his face. He stumbled back, dropping the book to the floor as he held his cheek. Danzo slowly put his hand back onto resting on the top of his cane. Behind him, the door that he had been blocking opened and two adult ninjas came out, carrying a stretcher. On top of it rested the body of Sai’s brother, covered with a black cloth, his hand limp off to one side. “…Brother…”, choked Sai as the pain in his chest overwhelmed the pain on his face. He sat down on the floor, clutching the book to his chest as every muscle in his body tried to hold back the natural feeling of sobs.

“Sai…Saiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii”, spoke Naruto in Sai’s ear as they sat next to each other on the train. Sai had been looking at the window, resting his head on one hand as his other hand clutched to the old, hardback drawing book in his lap. Somewhere between half-listening to Naruto’s and Sakura’s conversation and watching the scenery go by, he must of dozed off. Naruto moved to poke Sai on the cheek with his index finger, but his hand was caught and arm twisted. “AH!” yelped the blond as Sai’s strong grip bent his unexpected limb. “SAI! LET GO!” Sai’s eyes flickered opened and he looked confused as he turned to see who was yelling in his ear. “What? Oh…Sorry…”, he mumbled, letting Naruto’s arm go. Naruto huffed, rubbing his wrist as Sakura snickered from the opposite seat in front of them. “He didn’t even wake up, that’s what you expect from a real ninja…”

Naruto huffed, still rubbing his sore wrist. “Hey! What’s that suppose to mean…”, he started to yell when something on Sai’s face caught his eyes. “Huh? Hey Sai? Are you crying?” Sakura turned to face Sai too, now interested in the tears visibly running down from Sai’s dark eyes down his pale cheeks. “What?” Sai asked, still obviously tired from his rude awakening. He touched his own face, then inspected his fingertips. Sure enough, they were moist. “…Excuse me…”,the artist said softly, standing up and stepped over Naruto quickly. He hurried to the bathroom stall in the back of the train car, shutting the door. His movements even startled Yamato, who was in the car alone that was stationed behind his 3 pupils. “Hm?” hummed the leader, lowering his magazine just enough so he could watch Sai go to the bathroom. Naruto sulked in his seat a bit, kicking his legs as Sakura watched him. “Maybe you should go see what’s wrong with him? You two have been awfully friendly lately…” Naruto’s face began to turn red and he looked up at Sakura, forcing a nervous laugh. “What? Why would you say something like that?”

Sakura just shrugged, turning her attention to her window as she looked outside at the rolling grassy hills and tall trees. “I don’t know. You use to really hate him, but since he’s been trying to be friends with us and everyone, you two are just getting along better” , she spoke with a little laugh to her voice. “It’s almost like with you and Sasuke, but somehow it’s completely different. Sasuke didn’t try at all to be friendly with people like Sai does, but they both seem to smile the most from being around you…but I guess that’s just because you’re a grade A idiot and people can’t help but laugh at you.” Naruto was starting to smile until the part where he was called a Grade A Idiot. “Hey! Why are you so mean, Sakura-channnnn”, he whined. “You know, we’re going to this festival to be guards for this Kabuki actor, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go on a date~.” Sakura just rolled her eyes. “Like I’ll have time for you, Shiro-sama needs all of our special attention!” she scolded Naruto as her inner Sakura gloated. “AND INO IS SO FREAKIN’ JEALOUS I GOT THIS MISSION AND SHE DIDN’T! SHIRO-SAMA IS SO CUTE!”

Naruto rolled his eyes at her, leaning on his arm as he looked out the window. He dazed off for a minute then sighed, getting up on his feet and headed to the bathroom. Sakura was busy gloating that she almost didn’t notice that Naruto was leaving. “Huh? You’re going to check on him?” Naruto shook his head, but smiled. “Nah. I really have to take a leak!” he announced then jogged to the back of the train. Sakura made a face, but smiled. “Idiot…”, she giggled, then went back to reading her magazine. Yamato watched Naruto give a few knocks on the door, shaking his head as well and went back to his newspaper. Sai had rinsed his face off with cool water by the time Naruto came knocking. He dried it off with a paper towel, unlocking the door about to leave when Naruto pushed him back inside the small room. The blond locked the door from the inside behind him, looking at Sai with a concerned face. “…Are you alright?” he asked softly to the slightly confused ninja in front of him that was nearly sitting on the sink. This bathroom was obviously not meant for more than one body.
