Into the Lights

"How. long. till. we. get. there???" The blonde managed to sputter out between the horse's gallops. "A bit."

Naruto looked absolutely terrified, riding backseat on a huge black horse with someone he barely knows guiding the thing. "Why. are. we. going. any-way?" "You wanted something interesting to do, hm?" Sasuke was able to speak normaly, somehow. "I didn't know it meant riding this damned thing!!" The Uchiha grinned and gave the horse a good spur, causing Naruto to scream. It was amusing.

"But, but, but, no one knows where we're going! Shouldn't we go back and tell them?" Naruto shouted in the raven's ear. "Why should we? Just stop being a pansy." That shut him up, for a while.

The horse rode steadily through the green, humid scenery. The road was crude and rough, but the horse was much quicker than the carriage Naruto had rode in on. And, it was beautiful.

But Naruto hated riding bitch, especially with this prick driving.

Over the dimming, afternoon horizon were the unmistakable edifices of New Orleans. The sun was just touching terra, and it gave an unearthly appeal to the city. The blonde had never seen something so beautiful. Then, Sasuke turned around, "We're here." And the sun gave a shine to his flesh that it could never impart so perfectly on anything else.

The Uchiha guided the horse down the road, which now changed to cobblestone, giving the horse's hooves a sturdy clack which each step. Walls gradually appeared on each side of the duo, and oil lamps burned on each. People began to appear as the steed wound through the streets. Poorly dressed beggars, then women escorted by men in tailored suits.

"So, how do you like it, mon amie?" Sasuke asked as the horse slowed to a stop before a large hotel, lit by the same ornate oil lamps as the rest of the city. The Uchiha jumped off the horse and proceeded to hand the reins to a man standing at the door. "How do I get off this damn thing, Sasuke?"

"Jump."

"Jump?? It's too high, Sasuke," he whined. For shit's sake. Can't this kid do anything.

"I'll catch you, dobe. Just hurry up." Naruto blinked. "Are you sure??"

"Just hurry the hell up!" And he did, well, he tried to jump. He fell off the horse, but the Uchiha did catch him, luckily. The blonde smiled, "hahah, thanks Sasuke."

He rubbed the back of his head. The Uchiha dropped him. "Lets go, dobe." And Sasuke walked off down the street. "Wait, wait!" Naruto bounded up, "where the hell are we going, Sasuke?" The Uchiha turned around, grinning, "somewhere not boring."

"What the hell does that mean?" The two strode quickly down the cobblestone street, passing many high-brows as they went along. "It means that we are going to have some fun."

The sun finally sunk below the horizon, leaving a beautiful and fleeting purple backdrop against the city. The rough streets were quieter as well. The only light was let off by the oil lamps.

The orange light bounced off of the stone and stucco of the city's buildings. None of the edifices were over three stories though, at least the boys could see.

"Do you even know where you are going, Sasuke?" Naruto asked as they slowed their walk through the streets. "Stop asking stupid questions." Sasuke grinned as he spoke, "I know exactly where we're going, I like the place."

"What is there to do there, Sasuke...?" The blonde continued to ask stupid questions. "Hm."

Naruto sighed a bit. That didn't sound like fun to him.

Sasuke turned down a side street, this even more dimly lit than the other. The sun was completely gone now, leaving a black and blue sky in it's wake. The two progressed down the way, Naruto looking more like a wet and lost puppy every step. Sounds could be heard beyond the stone walls of the alley. They didn't sound... fun. The blonde was now worried.

"Sasuke, can we please go back..." he whined.

"Too late to go back out the city."

"Can we at least go back to that hotel you left the horse at??"

"Just wait."

They turned another corner, and a door presented itself before them. It was a modestly sized building, two stories tall and made of stone, except for the front which was dark stucco. One lantern rested on an old barrel next to the heavy wooden door. Sasuke stepped up to the door and rhapped three times on the wrought iron knocker. It sounded ominous.

The door creaked open a little, light spilled out in excess. "Who is it?" Asked a voice from the door. "Just an Uchiha looking for a home, mon bon amie." Sasuke stated icily. "Oh ho, step inside, step inside." The door opened more and the light inside almost blinded the blonde as he followed Sasuke into the building.

This was not what Naruto had expected.

It was bright and cheery. There were men and women dancing, and people sitting a bar drinking. It was quite nice, nothing like what he had begun to believe walking down that small, dark alley. Everyone was smiling, or sleeping drunk on the bar. Sasuke went and sat down and ordered a drink.

Naruto hadn't actually noticed what the other was wearing, until he had sat down right infront of him. It was a beautiful blue coat with gold buttons, a high collar, black tunic underneath. He looked quite, hm... dashing.

Naruto sat down next to him at the bar. "So, how the hell did you come across this place?" The blonde looked around at all the people dancing, some even singing with the piano music that was being played. The barkeep flew a small glass Sasuke's way. Naruto caught it before it reached him and chugged it. He made a face, then smiled. "I like it!"

Sasuke grunted and ordered another bourbon as Naruto continued to watch the men and women twirl on the dance floor. The blonde asked the man behind the light wooden counter for wine. They had no wine. The man laughed and gave him a glass of some golden liquor. "Ehm, thanks..." He drank this a little more cautiously after chugging Sasuke's beverage. It burned too, but he was too occupied watching the people laugh and smile and dance.

"Sasuke!" Naruto stood up, "wanna dance?"

The Uchiha stared at him for a moment, then rolled his eyes and chugged another bourbon. "No." He ordered another drink and shooed the blonde away. "I'm sure someone would like to dance. Someone that is not me."

Naruto plopped back down at the bar. "But, I don't know anyone here..."

Sasuke just chugged another drink, "go and meet someone, then." Naruto just decided to wait for a moment. This shouldn't take too~ long.

...

And he was right. "So, Sasuke... want to dance?" Naruto grinned more as he spoke every word.

Sasuke hiccuped a bit, then giggled. "I'm, well, not, not much of a dancer, dobe."

The blonde grabbed him by the arm, "oh, come on, teme." His grin was from ear to ear as he spun the Uchiha around, then grabbed him by the waist and brought him out onto the wooden dance floor. Sasuke just went along with him, not much concerned for what was going on at the moment. "Oh, so, you like to dance, dobe? Heheh." Naruto smiled, "yep."

The two swayed to a slow song being thrummed out on the piano. The candles suspended from the wooden ceiling beams above provided plenty of light. Sasuke continued to giggle softly and let his head rest on the blonde's shoulder sleepily. Naruto laughed quietly to himself and hummed along with the song, Sasuke's feet simply moving with his own.

The prick was right, this was fun.
