Red Moon
Title: Shinigami-sama's Gift

Disclaimer: I already said this but... I do not own Naruto nor the characters, I just "borrow" them for the plot (only my OC and her family are of my creation)

Chapter 2: Red Moon
-------------------------
The stars were veiled… dark blue clouds were covering the night sky as a shadow brushed past the forest at an incredible speed… suddenly, and after making sure no one was around, the shadow stopped under a great tree, releasing the small bundle it had been carrying…
When the moonlight managed to get through the clouds, illuminated the being… standing there, there was a wolf that doubled the size of an adult horse, her fur was clear white, except on some parts, like the tips of the two tails or the ears, and the clawed paws, that were black… her bright golden eyes not leaving the little bundle as she delicately uncovered what was inside of it…
“Are you okay, Kab*?” The huge beast said, looking worriedly down at the little being she had been carrying…
A little girl, no more than a year old, nodded in silence. Her petite form was still shaking a bit, her clothes and her blood red hair were dirty, and her light green eyes still had the traces of her tears…
“Tara-san” the little girl called
“Yes?” The wolf answered leaning closer
“Where Mom and Dad?” She asked
Tara sighed, her eyes sad…
***Flashback***
Nana was on the forest, collecting some herbs, with Tara's company, her flaming red hair glowing with the last rays of sunshine, when a small gray wolf came running at full speed and stopped right in front of the two, panting…
“What’s wrong Kin?” Tara asked immediately
“I’ve got an urgent message for Nana-sama, it’s from Kyo-sama!”
Nana immediately stood up, worry in her eyes “What happened to him?” She questioned
“We don’t know how or why, but some information leaked out, the entire village knows about your condition, and the child’s too” The little one said “They’re going after them, Kyo-sama took the child and took refuge within his house, and is currently trying to hold back the villagers”
Nana and Tara looked at each other and nodded
“Kin, go back to Kyo and tell him help is on the way” Tara ordered
“Hai!” Kin said, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone
“No time to get the others” Tara said “Let’s go”
Nana nodded, and both of them dashed out of the forest, to the village. When they got there, the sight was horrible… the entire village seemed to be awake, gathered around Kyo’s burning house, armed with stakes, spears and burning teas… all of them screaming all kind of insults like crazy…
Tara signaled Nana, who seemed to become angrier by the moment, to follow after her… she ran into the crowd head first, getting the people out of the way long enough for Nana to get trough them and into the burning house…
When she entered, she saw with horror that the whole place was on fire
“Kyo!” She called, screaming at the top of her lungs “Kyo! Can you hear me??”
“N-nana…” came the weak reply from not far away
Nana spotted him laying on the ground, covered in blood and with a leg trapped under a fallen pillar. She ran to him and tried to free him, but he stopped her.
“Nana… you have to get out of here”
“I won’t leave you behind!”
“Nana… I send Kyra with Kin… they must be already in the forest…”
“Stop talking, save your energy” She told him while removing the pillar with amazing strength
“Nana, please…listen…” She turned to face him, tears covering her eyes “It’s over… please take care of our daughter for me…” He said raising a blood-covered hand to caress her face…
“No! Don’t say that!” She screamed, crying “Kyo, don’t leave me!”
“I’m… sorry…” His voice trailed off… his eyes closed, and his hand fell to his side…
“Kyo! Kyo!” Nana screamed, shaking him desperately, but it was of no use…
***End Flashback***
"Tara-san?"
Tara snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the little one call her name…
"It's nothing… everything is going to be alright now, Kab" She said laying on the ground next to the little girl "Go to sleep now… we'll talk in the morning…" She said as she sheltered her with her tails…
The little one nodded and closed her eyes, falling asleep almost immediately…
Tara however didn't sleep… She looked at the moon, tears falling from her eyes… she had lost three of her most precious people that night… and the memories kept coming back to her mind… but she couldn't give in to sadness… she had a child to look after…

The next morning, Tara and little Kyra got to Tara's home, in the deepest part of the forest… She would be safe there, until she was ready… ready to face the truth and the human world again… but for now, at least she'd be happy…

*Kab --> Kabu is the japanese for a wolf's pup.
Too short, I know… but I wanted to focus on this flashback, though there are still parts left, which I will reveal when the time is right… Next chapter will be more interesting… the title will be… "Kyuubi's Rage" so be ready!
