Chapter Two:

Snow White Queen

“There’s a vampire bleeding on my couch and I don’t know what to do!” Naruto nearly screeched into the phone’s receiver as he shifted from foot to foot on his kitchen’s linoleum floor in uneasiness.

A drowsy yawn could be heard over the phone before a sluggish male voice replied.

“… Naruto, it’s four in the morning,” The voice moaned out in exasperation.

The blond paced back and forth in his small one bedroom residence that was in the basement of the ‘Good Morning’ café.

He gripped the phone in both hands and resisted the temptation to slam the plastic device against the kitchen wall in frustration.

“Shikamaru, I’m serious! I really need your help! I don’t know anything about vampires except for what I’ve seen in movies,” Naruto pleaded out to his friend.

There was a long pause before the other male’s voice came out through the phone in a careful tone.

“Did you … just say you had a vampire on your couch?”

Naruto leaned against the wall of his tiny kitchen and peeked out to the living room at the unconscious vampire on his orange sofa.

“Yes! Vampire! This isn’t a joke, damn it! Remember when Iruka told us not to get into other people’s businesses or start fights and all that stuff? Well … I kinda did,” The blond said as he hid behind the wall again as if he were afraid the vampire would wake up soon.

“What did you do, Naruto? You didn't shift, did you?” Shikamaru’s tone turned into a warning growl.

"No," Naruto replied.

"Then what did you do to have a vampire passed out on your couch!?" Shikamaru asked with the patience of a stepmother.

Naruto hesitated a moment before he started to go over what had happened.


-Flashback-


Naruto squared his shoulders and walked out into the cold winter night, all motion outside stopped and for a second the blue-eyed lycanthrope thought he had scared the others away.

That was until he felt the press of otherworldly power fill the alleyway.

The abnormal power spread out to engulf him and pulsated alongside his own source of power like hands trying to close in around him.

‘This is what vampires feel like?’

The three beings before him had no heartbeats. They were alive but not really. Even their power felt cold and dead.

He let out a restrained snarl as his warm power swirled around him and pushed back against the feeling of lifeless fingers stroking his skin.

He shivered and gave himself a small shake.

A callous snicker was heard and Naruto focused his eyes on the male standing above a bleeding figure who was huddled in the snow at his black booted feet.

“Look, Konan baby. A big bad wolf wants to play with us,” The man said in an amused tone as he looked to the his female counterpart with cunning gray eyes.

He was about three inches taller than Naruto and used every inch of that height as intimidation.

‘I bet he was bully when he was alive in school,’ Naruto frowned.

He had short hair that was dyed a wild red with three silver piercings on either side of his nose.
Naruto couldn’t even begin to count the ones in the guy’s ears; there were just too many of them.

The redhead’s face said that he couldn’t be any older than Naruto himself, but the look in the vampire’s pale gray eyes made the blond think twice about that statement.

The vampire’s eyes said he had seen things that no person the age of nineteen should see.

He wore black leather from head to toe. Even the thin cell phone in his gloved hand was black.

‘Huh, this guy looks like he belongs in a bondage porno,’ Naruto thought as he glanced to the silent female.

And according to ‘Mr. Too many piercings’ her name was Konan.

Her short hair was a soft lavender that matched the eye shadow around her glacial azure eyes. Her lips were a soft petal pink that had a single silver stud below the bottom lip.

When her eyes met Naruto’s and he didn’t look away the deep frown made her features just that bit less pretty.

Like her male equivalent, she too, wore all black except for the violet paper flower that was tucked into her hair.

Extraordinary power came off of the woman in subtle flows. But unlike her boorish partner, hers was more composed.

It was like she thought she didn’t need to show her true strength to prove anything.

‘What an odd couple. She holds her power in and he flaunts it,’ Naruto was torn from his thoughts when the woman spoke in a soothing voice.

“That’s enough, Pein. We have a job to finish. And this has nothing to do with you, Wolf King. We will be out of your territory in a moment,” Her voice was like the expression on her face.

Remote and dispassionate.

Naruto blinked and realized that she had heard of him.

‘Well, at least I don’t have to prove myself to them. Now what where the rules again? Ahh! I really should have listened when Iruka explained that part too!’ He sighed as he scratched the back of his neck in nervousness.

He gave a bright smile and took two steps forward.

“Heh, you got me. The name’s Naruto Uzumaki, and I’m the Rex of the Kyuubi pack. I know it’s probably none of my business but I couldn’t help but overhear you guys beating up on that guy behind my café so I thought I’d come out and take a look,” Naruto said as his eyes flicked to the blood that was pooled under the unmoving figure in the snow.

The collapsed heap of blood-soaked clothes and dark raven hair still hadn’t moved since he came out.

‘I hope he’s not dead,’ Naruto swallowed a lump in his throat.

“Don’t worry, wolf. He’s not dead …yet,” Pein remarked as he smirked, showing pearly white fangs on top and bottom that were similar to cats teeth.

Naruto closed his eyes and concentrated on not rushing the redheaded vampire and ripping his throat out. He took a deep breath and reopened them again. His once cerulean blue eyes now blazed an angry wolfish fiery orange-red.

“Oh! See, I told you Konan. The doggy wants to play,” Pein’s words bit out with a slash of power as he tossed the black cell phone to his partner who merely sighed in impatience.

Naruto stumbled back as if he had been physically hit but he shot his unnatural eyes up in resistance to the vampire’s challenge.

“Look, I was trying to be nice, but now you’re just pissing me off with your whole ‘supremacy’ thing. I’ve never actually met vampires before so I don’t really know all the rules, but if I remember something that Iruka told he, he said that if vampires enter a lycanthrope’s territory, they need to ask the King’s permission. And I so happen to be the King of this territory, and I don’t remember giving you guys permission,” The blond spoke in a very careful tone. And for Naruto that was saying a lot because his temper usually got the best of him in situations like this.

Pein looked annoyed that Naruto hadn’t taken the bait.

A look past Konan’s face as she narrowed her eyes.

“You are right, Rex of the Kyuubi pack. We have disrespected you. I apologize on behalf of me and my partner. And since we have insulted you in your own territory, you may ask a single request of us. With the fulfillment of that request, we will have abided by the vampire and lycanthrope laws of obligation,” Konan’s voice came out in a bored tone as if her statement was something she had memorized already.

“I want you to leave that guy alone,” Naruto replied.

Konan and Pein exchanged looks.

“Just what is it you are asking, Rex?” The lavender haired vampire asked as the slightest bit of curiosity flashed in her eyes.

It was as if Naruto had done or said something interesting.

“Konan…” Pein stood very still as he watched his partner.

“I know what I’m saying. He stays with me,” Naruto said as he took a step forward towards the raven-haired vampire in the snow.

Konan stared at the blond werewolf before an eerie laugh fell from her pink lips.

Pein looked confused for a moment as he looked from his partner to Naruto.

Just as suddenly as it had started, the female vampire’s laugh had stopped.

She set her cold azure gaze on Naruto’s orange-red ones and tilted her head to the side.

“Do you know what it is you are saying? You are putting him under your protection. Are you sure you want to do that?” She asked as a current of power began to swirl around her.

Her power felt like the flapping of paper wings beating against Naruto.

She wasn’t trying to start a fight. Her power felt …excited.

Naruto took another step forward and his own power came alive again to push hers back on reflex.

“I know what I’m doing. I’m not standing by while you kill someone in the back of my café. I’m saving someone’s life of course,” The blond growled out. He was getting tired of the vampire’s word games.

Pein doubled over as he began to laugh.

He seemed to have finally gotten what the whole conversation was about.

“Saving someone’s life! This guy is a real moron! He really has no idea what he’s saying does he?” The redheaded vampire shook his head with disbelief as he still snickered.

“You certain?” The woman asked.

“I already said I was, didn’t I?” Naruto barked out as he glared at the laughing Pein.

Naruto frowned and lost some of his anger to puzzlement.

“I don’t see what’s so funny,” The vampires were really starting to get on his nerves. Naruto hoped not all vampires were this cynical.

“Under vampire and lycanthrope law, you, Naruto Uzumaki, Rex of the Kyuubi pack have now challenged Master Itachi Uchiha of the Uchiha vampire clan to ownership of master Itachi’s pet and slave, Sasuke Uchiha. We will herby report your challenge to our master,” Konan said as a smile split her face.

Naruto blinked.

He stood frozen for a few seconds before his brain finally kicked in.

He opened his mouth before shutting it.

Pein still laughed in the background but Naruto was only focused on the smiling woman.

He shook his head before his brows furrowed together in confusion.

“ … Wait …. what?”

“He is yours,” Konan replied as she nodded to her snickering partner and disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

“Enjoy your last days, wolf,” Pein said just before he too disappeared.

Naruto stood there in the snow slushy alley stunned.

‘What did I do?’


-End of Flashback-


“-ruto!”

Naruto blinked.

He had zoned out while he had told Shikamaru what had happened.

He still couldn’t believe what he had done.

“W-what?” He asked as a heavy sigh could be heard from the other male.

“I said, do you have any idea what you’ve done!? Damn it Naruto!” For Shikamaru to have the energy and to get mad enough to cuss was saying something.

Naruto sighed as he covered his face with his hands.

“I didn’t know at the time,” The blond mumbled from around his hands.

Shikamaru growled before he let out a heavy sigh. When his voice came through, he sounded like his normal self.

“Just … wait there. I’ll be right over,” And with that the line went dead.

Naruto hung up the phone on it’s holder and groaned as he picked himself up off the kitchen floor (he didn’t remember sitting down) and padded over to his currently occupied couch in the living room.

He stared down at the pale vampire and for the first time really looked at him.

‘He’s … beautiful,’

I hope you all liked this chapter and I hope I didn't screw up Pein and Konan too much. They are a little OOC but I needed them like that for this story. please don't be mad at me! I have no beta so it's all on me ._. And I haven't read all the manga.
