Chapter 2
Hello....
Sorry this one is a little short....
Please enjoy!!

The next day Neji couldn’t get those green eyes out of his head. He wanted to just forget him, but he couldn’t which was irritating him.
A knock sounded on his door, “enter.”
The door opened. A smiled at the person that entered as pale eyes met the same. “Hinata, why didn’t you tell me you were coming in?” Neji stood and walked around his desk, then pulled his cousin into a hug.
“I wanted to surprise you and I guess it worked.” She laughed as she returned the hug.
“Hey get your hands off my wife,” a gruff voice came from the door way.
Neji smiled and looked at the spiky haired man that just walked in, “Kiba, nice to see you.” Neji shook his hand.
“How’s it going?” Kiba has known Neji for a while, not as long as Naruto, but he can read people real good. Something was going on with Neji.
“Everything is fine,” he said a little too quickly.
Hinata narrowed her eyes at her cousin. “Neji…”
“What?” he asked as he sat back down behind his desk, pretending to read a report.
Kiba smirked as he figured it out (he's good like that). “You got it bad, don’t you?”
Neji’s eyes zeroed in on the man, “what the hell….”
Smiling, “who is it Neji?” Hinata asked. She was happy because it was time he met someone. It’s been a while since…
“I don’t….don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Just then the door opened and in walked the blonde moron responsible for this.
‘Ok just kill me now!’ he thought as he watched the boob squad.
“Hinata , Kiba!! When did you get in?” Naruto went over and pulled both into a hug.
“Today, ok, enough of this,” Kiba turned back to Neji, “who is it? You know I’ll find out sooner or later.”
Naruto eyed Kiba with a questioning look in his blue eyes.
“Naruto-kun, Neji is seeing someone, isn’t he?” Hinata asked.
The biggest smile formed on Naruto’s lips, “well, well, he did leave an impression on you.”
Neji glared at the blonde. ‘Great! Just Great!’
“Who?” Both Kiba and Hinata asked.
~
As Neji walked into his house he felt it instantly. The emptiness, the cold was there to greet him as he closed the door. He dropped his keys on the hall table and talked into the dining room. He dropped into one of the chairs, pale eyes staring straight ahead, looking at a picture that he should have packed away. The memories still were there, they will always be there, but…
“…gods Shika, I miss you,” he whispered as he lowered his head to his arms. His body shock slightly as silent tears rolled down his face.
**1 week later**
Naruto unlocked the door and walked in. He was given a key for ‘just in case’ situation. He walked in calling out, “hey Gaara! Where you at?” He headed up the stairs. He had a bad feeling and that’s whey he was over here. He hadn’t heard from him and he was worried. When he called last night his phone was busy.
Once he hit the landing the smelling hit him full force. ‘No!’ he thought as he raced towards the bedroom. He opened the door then headed to the bathroom, noticing the phone off the hook.
He walked into room, his eyes widened at what he saw. “Shit Gaara!” He shouted as he rushed over to the pale male slumped against the wall surrounded in a pool of his own blood... He
pulled the towels from the hooks and wrapped his arms. He picked him up and carried him to his bed. Naruto pulled out his phone ready to call 911.
“No Naruto, I’m ok.” His voice sounded weak and horse. He reached up and touched the blonde’s arm. “Please, I don’t want to go back.” Dropping his head he turned away from his friend.
Sighing Naruto sat down unwrapping one arm. ‘At least he didn’t cut deep,’ he thought as he covered the angry slashes. He stood and walked into the hall to get gauze, peroxide and some Neosporin.
After he bandaged both arms he looked over at his friend who was sitting up leaning his back against the head board.
Gaara didn’t want to turn to look into knowing blue eyes but he did anyway. “He called.”
Those two words had the blonde seeing red. He didn’t respond he just got on his cell phone and called Sasuke. He told him to get over there quick.
Naruto didn’t trust himself talking yet; he waited until Sasuke showed up. He went down to open the door and fell into his arms.
Sasuke was shakin’, “what happened?” He could smell the faint stench of blood. He pulled the blonde back, “what happened?”
“That bastard called Gaara. He was cutting himself again.”
“Shit,’ he pulled his lover back into his arms.
They both walked into Gaara’s room. He hadn’t moved.
“What did he say Gaara?” Sasuke asked. He was the rational, calm one, that’s why Naruto called him. The blonde was too emotional.
“He…he said that he knew where I was. He told me that I was shit and that he was going to make sure I paid for everything…” his voice was flat, no emotion, low. His eyes staring down at his bandaged covered arms.
Smirking, “it’s been a year and the bastard is still in my head.” His voice was horse. All he wanted was for the pain to stop. He looked up, green eyes filling with tears. “I just don’t want to be here…I’m not strong enough.”
Naruto pulled Gaara into his arms and rocked him, “don’t talk like that. You have people that love you and would hurt if you weren’t here. I don’t know what I’d do if…if…” he couldn’t finish, he just sat there and hugged his friend.
Sasuke wanted to find Shukaku and kill the bastard. He’s broken Gaara, and now he doesn’t even know if he will heal.
~
Later that night as Gaara lay in bed his mind stared to drift to the man he had met the week before. Snorting, he didn’t have a chance with him. He was too damaged, who would want him. But he couldn’t get him out of his mind. Those pale eyes had a calming effect on him as he danced with him. He wanted to have him in his arms again to see if it was a fluke or not.
“Ok, spill…what’s on your mind?” Naruto asked Gaara. He had been sitting next to the bed. He noticed that he had woken up and was sighing; he never sighed.
“Neji.”
Smiling…Naruto knew that he matched them up perfectly. “What about him?”
“It would never work.” His voice soft and flat, He was stating the truth.
“What the hell are you talkin’ about? I think you too go well together.”
“Naruto, look at me. I’m in no shape to be in a relationship with anyone. Plus I’m…” he couldn’t say it out loud.
“What ?” Naruto asked softly.
Sitting up he turned to look out the window. The moon was full and bright in the night sky. “I’m damaged,” he spoke low. “I…”
“You’re fine…as long as you are away from that asshole. You need to stop this. You’re healing but having someone near you who cares for you will help you heal more.” Sitting next to his friend and dropping his arm around Gaara’s shoulder, “give it a chance? Let him see the real you.”
Smiling, a real smile, “idiot.”
