What is in a family?

Chapter 2

Naruto’s eyes slowly opened, trying to get all the eye boogers out of his vision. He pushed himself up, bringing Kyuubi along with him. He walked up the stairs, taking them by one to make sure he didn’t fall and get a boo-boo.

When he reached the door, he reached up on his tip-toes and tried to turn the knob. When it didn’t turn, and dropped Kyuubi and grasped it with both hands. Naruto began to whimper and tears began to fall and fall on the dirty wood that was underneath his bare feet. He looked underneath the door to see if there was anyone walking about. He didn’t see anyone and didn’t hear anything.

He sat down in his dirty clothes and began to cry, tears streaming down his face. He hugged Kyuubi tightly and started whispering, “I’m going to be alright. They didn’t leave me. I’m not alone.” He trembled and hugged Kyuubi tighter than ever before.

This happened the last time they did this, and he still reacts the same way. He knew they would come back, they always did.

~*~One Month later~*~

It’s been a long time since Naruto had seen anyone. He was very worried, like extremely since. He has been eating anything he could find, and he drinks the water he collects in a tub from a leaking pipe. He hasn’t seen himself in a mirror in a long time, but he knew he needed a bath, since he usually got a bath once a week, but he hasn’t had one in what it seems like a year.

He talked to Kyuubi the whole day, to keep from doing something that he knew he would regret. His parents might get angry if he broke something. He was still convinced that his parents loved him and whatever they were doing was because they were protecting him. He just knew it.

He knew that he would be out of food soon, but he hoped that he didn’t have to resort to eating something icky. “You know Kyuubi, Mommy told me this story once. It was so good, I mean it scared me at first, but now I listen to it over and over in my head, I laugh.”

“There was once a little boy. And he was walking in a forest one day, where he found a little injured fox. His parent’s always told him not to touch or talk to strangers or strange things. But the boy thought that this fox would become his friend and would never hurt him. Little did he know was that this fox was a youkai. As soon as the boy kneeled down and reached to touch him to help him, the fox attacked. The boy’s screams were unheard as the fox consumed him. The boy’s parents looked and looked for him for days, until they came upon shreds of clothes, they knew that he must have met an untimely end. The mourned, but they also passed on this story to help warn against the dangers of strangers and the fact that even the most innocent looking being can be deadly.”
He sighed as he finished the story, he giggled. He really liked that his mommy told him the story, because it really showed she cared. Even after the first time she told him, he couldn’t sleep for weeks in the dark that is his room. Though now, he loved the only story the he knew. He loved all the detail that went into the story. It made his heart soar.
