One

One – age 6
I rubbed my eyes as I tried not to cry. If I cried Uchiha Sasuke would win...
My name is Uzumaki Naruto but everyone calls me ‘brat’. I’m an orphan, both my parents died when our village was attacked by a demon fox. I live in a shinobi village called Konohagakure, or Konoha for short. I’m also an outcast because of something beyond my control. I have a demon sealed inside my body... the demon who attacked my village... therefore I am hated.
Which is why I am now fighting back tears. I’m older than him but no one will ever know... he’s twice my size. Ever since I started coming to this school, everyone has followed the Uchiha’s example. Even the teachers don’t care what he does, because he’s supposed to be an exceptional student.
Me, they don’t care about... no one would care if I stopped coming to school. They probably wouldn’t even notice that I was missing. I started school later than everyone else, so they all think I’m stupid or something.
My life will probably never change, but that’s ok, I like how I live most of the time. I have a family, albeit a strange one, it’s made up of the orphans I live with.
There are four of us, I’m the oldest.
~*~*~*~
I stood to one side of the store as I waited for my order to be filled. I looked at the ground, hoping no one would notice me.
“Sakura, give this basket to the blonde boy in the corner.” The storekeeper said as I continued to stare at the ground. “Don’t talk to him, just take the money and come back here.”
“Ok Dad.”
I heard footsteps coming towards me. I glanced up quickly as I passed the girl the money. I took the basket she held and literally ran out the door.
I ran all the way home before I even looked up. I opened the door only to gasp in horror. The room had been turned upside down. I walked through the chaos, carefully watching where my steps went. The further I walked the worse the chaos got. I carefully placed the basket on the kitchen counter before continuing my slow walk through my home. Tears were dripping from my cheeks as I surveyed the bloody chaos that had been our bedroom. I walked over to join my sisters on our bed.
That’s where they found me seven days later.
I was wrong... someone had noticed I wasn’t in class...
Two – age 12
“Look it’s the murderer.”
“Monster!”
I looked at the ground as I hurried home with my groceries. No one had believed me innocent six years ago, when my sisters were killed. The villagers believed I had killed them myself, so now I had to put up with the constant abuse that was meted out to me.
I was the only survivor of my clan... not that they cared... I was hated by the entire village yet I don’t even know why they hated me.
I was already at the highest rank that I could reach at my age... some would call me a prodigy, but there are none in this village.
I was being sent away on a mission tomorrow, and I had gone to get some supplies from the markets. As usual I was overcharged for the worst quality items but you learn to live with it.
I opened the door only to grin as Michie and Tsara giggled excitedly. “Ok what’s going on here. Tsara do you know?”
Tsara shook her head as they lead me into the kitchen. Maoko took my basket as Tsara pointed to a chair decorated with ribbons. I sat in the chair and smiled at the three younger girls.
“Thank you, but you didn’t have to celebrate my birthday.” I said softly. “I would have understood...”
“No no no!” Michie smiled as Tsara squealed.
“It’s fine, Na’to, you’re being sent on another jonin mission tomorrow.” Maoko said softly. “And besides we wanted to celebrate your birthday with you.”
I smiled as we enjoyed our time together that night. I went to bed, unaware of what life had in store for me... yet again.
~*~*~*~
I sighed as I waited for my new team mates to arrive at the rendezvous. I had left Maoko in charge of Michie and Tsara while I was gone.
“I guess you are the jonin whose been sent to our team for additional support.”
I blinked up at the black haired woman standing over me. “Possibly, are you Inuzuka-dono?”
She nodded as she waved her team over. “I’m Inuzuka Hana, this is Hyuga Saya, Akimichi Matsuda and Aburame Shibi.” Hana said as she leant on an enormous dog. “And this is Shiromaru.”
“Why should we believe you are a genin let alone a jonin? You are what... nine?” Saya said as she looked down her nose at me. “Are you running away from home? Are your parents too strict?”
I stood and opened my pack. “Read this aloud please, Aburame-sensei.” I asked softly as I gave Shibi my papers. “And I’m not nine. I’m twelve... I’m just vertically challenged.”
Hana and Matsuda shared an amused smile as their teacher read out my rank and they actually laughed as Saya’s jaw dropped. I carefully put my papers back into their pocket before speaking again.
“When are we leaving?”
~*~*~*~
A week later I had earned their respect. It was surprisingly easy to do. All I had to do was spar with Shibi. He seemed confused when his kikai refused to attack me. Matsuda had decided that I needed feeding and Hana treated me like a little sister.
Saya on the other hand, can’t stand me. She won’t speak to me at all. Hana told me she’s always been like that.
This was our last day outside the Land of Fire, so we were heading back when we were ambushed. Obviously they didn’t know which of us was their target because they demanded that we hand over the Hyuga. I could see that Shibi was struggling to work out a way out, but I knew it would end in a fight any other way.
“I’m Hyuga Sayu. What do you want?”
Saya’s jaw dropped as I stepped forward. They grinned as they grabbed my arms and pulled me towards them.
“Hey let go!” I snapped as I pretended to struggle. “What are you doing?”
“Tell his father we want $200000 in exchange for his safety.” The leader said running the blade of his kunai across my cheek. “And that he has a month to pay it or else... we’ll find him when it’s time.”
The last thing I saw was the confusion and horror on their faces as I was dragged deeper into the forest.
~*~*~*~
It took them about a week to realize I wasn’t Sayu. To say they were pissed is an understatement. I was repeatedly raped and then abandoned. Or at least I think so. I remember the first few rapes but then there is nothing until about a week ago.
I woke up to find myself being cared for by four of the prettiest people I had ever seen. They explained that they had found me unconscious in the forest, and brought me home to care for me. That was three months ago, and I hadn’t escaped captivity completely unscathed.
I was pregnant. And female...
~*~*~*~
“Na’to, are you hungry?”
I looked up as Arian smiled at me. I nodded as she held up a plate of vegetables. “Thank you, Arian-dono. It looks delicious.”
She walked over to help me sit up. “I’m sorry I’m so hopeless...”
“You are not hopeless, just sick. Don’t worry about trivial things, you need to concentrate on getting better.”
~*~*~*~
For the next six months that was my life. I was cared for by Arian and her friends, Raelin, Mikael and Baliel. I stayed with them after the baby was born until I was well enough to travel back to Konoha.
It was a long difficult journey. It took the six of us, they came with me, a whole month to reach the waterfall behind Konoha. That was where my son and I left their protection to continue on to Konoha.
Before I left the safety of the trees, I had hidden Minato inside my jacket and redone the special jutsu my father had taught me before he died. Which was a good thing considering...
~*~*~*~
I stood in front of the Third Hokage, listening quietly as he yelled at me for disappearing. I lost track of the conversation, and was eager to get home when he paused.
“Well?”
“Excuse me?” I asked as he sighed.
“I asked if the new arrangements were agreeable.” I must have looked confused because he went on to explain. “It has been decided that you need to be in a stable family situation...”
“So I can go home now?”
“No. By stable we mean a situation where you are the child.” Hiruzen said softly. “You are going to be adopted until you reach maturity and are going back to the Academy until further notice.”
“As a sensei?”
“No. You have been declared dangerous, and the only compromise I could wrangle was that you were to be stripped of your rank and sent back to start again.” He sighed again. “It was that or have you executed... and surprisingly enough there was plenty of opposition to that prospect.”
“So now what happens when no one wants to adopt me? Do I get executed?” I asked morbidly curious.
“No, because you have already been adopted.”
I felt my jaw hit the ground. “Who would want me? I’m hated.”
The door opened behind me, and people walked in, three of them.
“I would, for one.”
I spun to stare at... “Shibi-sensei?”
He nodded as the dark haired lady beside him smiled. “We adopted you, Naruto. This is my wife, Emiko and our son Shino.”
I looked but I couldn’t see the small boy. “Are you sure, I don’t mind being executed. I don’t want your family to be treated badly.”
He just smiled and extended his hand. “Come on it’s time to go home.”
I took it with a little trepidation.
~*~*~*~
Emiko smiled me to follow her when we got to the Shibi’s house on the Aburame estate. I did so reluctantly, wondering if I was in trouble.
“Naruto, please tell me what happened after you left Shibi’s team.” She asked softly. “He... all of them... have been terrified of the possibilities they imagined.”
“I was with them for a really short time, at least I think so... the people who cared for me afterwards said they found about a month after I went with the enemy.”
“They said... you don’t know?” Emiko looked horrified at that.
“I was unconscious for some time and they took care of both of us.” I said as I undid my jacket. “I was raped when they found out my lie.”
“Oh my god!” Emiko blinked as she reached for my baby. “SHIBI!”
