Chapter II

“Sakura-bitch.” Sakura stopped eating and placed her fork back down. She stood up from the table and faced her uncle. She kept her eyes cast to the ground as she bowed as though she was a servant to the household.

“Morning Jiraiya-Jii-sama. How was your morning?” Sakura asked in a monotone voice.

Jiraiya snorted and made her way to the coffee machine. There, she poured herself a cup and kept her back to his eldest and only niece. “What's for breakfast bitch?” he asked stoically.

Sakura looked up to her uncle’s back briefly, thoughts continuously running through her mind. Why could her uncle just treat her like his niece and not some common trash? What was so wrong with being a woman? “I asked you a question ingrate.” She snapped out of her momentary lapse of concentration and reached over to the table.

“I made you pancakes,” she answered evenly, lifting the plate of golden brown circles up to his back. “Would you like some?”

Of course, her award for her generous offer was a hard, cold slap in the face. “You better learn how to speak to your superior the correct way, bitch while you're living in my house. Now apologize before you get hit again.” Jiraiya hissed.

Lowering her head more in sadness than in fury, she muttered an “I'm sorry Jiraiya-Jii-sama,” and felt another sting of pain against her cheek as she was slapped once more.

“APOLOGIZE CORRECTLY!!” Jiraiya screamed into her ear. Sakura felt her temper rise considerably but she squashed down the need to scream and apologized a bit louder than last. She felt the tears sneaking their way down her cheeks but she didn’t reach up to wipe them away. She knew her uncle couldn’t see them as long as she didn’t lift her head up. She’ll be damned if she gave her lousy uncle any satisfaction in knowing he made her cry. “Much better,” he snorted and then he turned his back to her and resumed to drinking his coffee. Once she was certain he was paying no more attention to her, she reached up and swiped at the God-forsaken tears.

“I have an early meeting today. I want you and that boy in bed by nine tonight,” Jiraiya stated affirmatively. He finished the last of his drink and then placed the mug into the basin of soapy warm water. He turned back to Sakura with hardened dark eyes. “Got it bitch?”

“Hai Jiraiya-Jii-sama,” she mustered up sadly.

Sakura kept a tight hold on her cousin’s hand as they waited for the streetlight to turn green. Inari looked up to his older cousin and wondered at what she was thinking that gave her such a sad look in her emerald eyes. Probably about daddy…stupid bastard, he thought angrily. He turned his dark brown eyes to his school and a wide grin that could’ve had Sakura a run for her money came to his face when he seen his best friend, Saki and the rest of his friends playing Tag and playing pranks on the girls. He started to bounce up and down in excitement.

“Sakura-nee-san, look! Look! Saki and Torque are here! Let’s go Sakura! Come on!”

Sakura laughed and patted Inari on the head. “Calm down Inari. You’ll be able to play with your friends when the light turns green, okay? They're not going anywhere.”

“Whatever Sakura-nee-san.” Sakura smiled. I have to be the luckiest person in the world to have such a great cousin who would still treat me like a human, Sakura thought happily.

The streetlight soon turned green and the two crossed. Once in front of the small building, Sakura bent down and kissed Inari on the forehead in a motherly fashion. “I want you to be a good boy and make sure you get home by four thirty,” she said.

“I will,” Inari replied. Sakura smiled and wrapped her arms around his torso.

“I love you Inari,” she whispered.

Inari softly smiled into his cousin’s skin. He was glad to hear those words because he never got to hear them from his father. “I love you too Sakura,” he whispered back. Sakura smiled and gripped Inari tighter in her arms.

After a moment, Sakura removed her arms from around Inari and stood up. “Now, go ahead and join your friends Inari.”

“Okay. Bye Sakura-nee-san.” He grinned and ran off to join his friends. Once she was certain that he was within the school’s gates, Sakura started to make her way to school.

Sakura was standing in line and waiting for her turn when she was pushed forward. She glanced back to see the dark haired girl and her friends giggling, or more so out right laughing at her. Sakura scowled and turned away. She stood silently, staring straight ahead. However, the whispering and giggling she heard behind her back made it difficult for her to continue ignoring them.

Finally receiving her lunch, Sakura passed the group to leave the line. A foot stepped out and tripped her. She landed face first into her lunch.

Everyone looked at the fallen girl, a pitch of silence filling the room. The next second, the room was filled with loud laughter. Sakura, now thoroughly embarrassed, quickly jumped to her feet and rushed out of the cafeteria. Tayuya, Ten-Ten and Kiba, whom were sitting at their table waiting for the rosette to come by, commented among themselves – well, mostly Ten-Ten and Tayuya were commenting. Kiba was busy stuffing his face like some damn pig – as they watched the dark haired girl move forward in line with a smile.

*

Sakura stormed out of the cafeteria, absently rubbing her hands together roughly. She was trying to calm her nerves down before she would make a mistake and attack the bastards. She growled lowly and brought the palm of her hand to her face. Fuck. Why couldn’t anyone just leave her alone? What was it about her that fucking brought trouble running? These damn kids didn’t know that she was the product of two women wanting children, so what the fuck was it about her that attracted bullies?

“Dumb ass bastards, that’s what they are,” Sakura fumed. “Fuck!!” she tightened her hands together absently and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath, willing her nerves to calm down. She was used to this, so why continue letting it bother her? No longer able to contain her anger, she threw a fist into the brick wall on the side of the school. God, why couldn’t she just stick up for herself? What the hell is wrong with her?

Continuing on her way, she kept throwing more absent-minded punches into the school until she found herself under the school’s benches. Letting out a frustrated scream, she fell back against the wall and buried her head into her knees. God, why was her life such a fuck-up?

“Hey, this area is taken,” a voice snapped irritably. Sakura jumped and looked up with wet angry eyes to see who had walked up on her. Stepping out of the shadows was a boy. The expression he wore was that of disinterest that went well with his dark hair and eyes. He had a pale complex, but it was not sickly at all. He was what most people described as a pretty boy. He plucked his used cigarette to the side.

“Hmpf. Who fucking asked you? Just…just leave me alone, please.” Sakura whispered through her tears. She wiped the back of her hand against her eyes and sniffled.

“Hey, I didn’t say you had to leave stupid. I was just saying that you weren’t the only one here, that’s all.” Sakura scowled at the insult and turned away from the boy.

“Whatever.”

The boy studied Sakura for a moment. “Why are you crying?”

“It’s nothing,” Sakura said softly. She wiped at her eyes again.

“Nothing?” he said sarcastically. “If it was nothing, you wouldn’t be crying.” Damn, he had her there. Sakura pursed her lips in slight anger. Why couldn’t the boy just leave her alone like she asked? “Fine.” He snapped when he seen that Sakura wasn’t going to give him an answer anytime soon. “I was going to hear you out but forget it.”

“Did I ever ask you to hear me out?” Sakura snapped. Green eyes met angry charcoal.

“Why are you being such a fucking bitch for, huh? What the hell is your problem?”

“You fucking bastard, what does it matter to you for why I'm being such a ‘fucking bitch’? if I want to act like this, I will.” Sakura snarled.

“You know what, fuck you. I'm leaving.” He snatched his black and white backpack off the ground and turned to leave. Then he stopped and glanced back to Sakura who was glaring heatedly at him. He sighed. “I know I'm being a complete prick for wondering, but the curiosity is killing me,” he said. Sakura upped her glare but said nothing. “Tell me…did your boyfriend break up with you?” Sakura scoffed and folded her arms across her chest. “I’ll take that as a no. Well, did you fail a test?” he asked.

“Fuck no. I'm fucking new here, what fucking test have I taken here that would have me upset?” Sakura said. The boy looked at her curiously before shaking his head. This girl was a weird one.

“Well, if it’s not one of those things, then what the hell is it?”

“Boy, you sure are a nosy fellow, aren’t you?”

“It runs through the family. Now stop trying to avoid my question; what the hell is it that has your panties in a twist?”

Sakura felt herself blush involuntarily before she huffed childishly and turned away the boy. She mumbled something incoherently under her breath. The boy smirked devilishly before slightly turning his head and cupping his left hand around the shell of his ear.

“What was that? I couldn’t hear you. Can you speak up?” Sakura growled. That bastard…

“I said that the whole school just laughed at me, that’s all.”

“Really…? That’s all?” he said, taking a seat down on his backpack. He gave her a smirk and then replied, “Man, you really is stupid, urusai.”

What? Sakura's eyes suddenly snapped up to meet his chiding charcoal and her cheeks flushed in anger as she glared at the boy. How fucking dare he call her stupid and a urusai? Hasn’t he looked at himself in a mirror lately? “Who even asked for your fucking opinion, you bastard?” she exasperated.

He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly and leaned back onto his arms. “I just call it like I see it. So, please tell me, why did the school laugh at you?”

It seemed as though all the anger that Sakura was feeling just a moment ago dissipated and she just stood there with her mouth hanging slightly opened. She then sighed and carded her fingers into her strawberry blonde hair in annoyance. “This girl…she made me trip and I fell in front of everyone,” she elucidated. She then chuckled darkly. “I feel kind of stupid now for running away all embarrassed and everything like a idiot.”

“Hn. So you met Hyuuga Hinata huh?” he said with a hint of disdain in his voice. He knew very well of the dark haired girl’s malicious doings to other students. “That bitch got me in trouble with Tsunade-sempai the first day I came to this shitty school. Hell, that smutty whore and her two little brainless lackeys, Shimizu Karin and Tsuchi Kin, kiss every faculty members’ asses.”

Sakura said nothing. He looked at Sakura once more, curious, and then asked, “What's your name?”

“Haruno Sakura,” she said.

He tilted his head to the side slightly and the ends of his lips curved into a smirk. “Sakura…that’s a…nice name, for a stupid girl like you,” he said softly. “I'm Uchiha Sasuke.”

Sakura narrowed her eyes at the boy. Only a bastard…

Sasuke looked her over. She had strawberry blonde hair styled into a spunky, bright emerald-green eyes and a large forehead. She was also dressed in the girls’ ridiculous uniform: gray plaid skirt, dark colored sweater vest and a white button-up shirt.

“So Sasuke,” Sakura started, “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be inside with the other kids?”

Sasuke shrugged, uninterested in the question. “I hate the cafeteria and I like to smoke, so I hang here. It’s a win-win situation for me,” he elucidated.

Sakura nodded and said, “Ano…I better go.” She waved goodbye to the stoic boy and left the area. Sasuke watched her head back to the school building before sighing heavily and leaning back onto the wall.

“Where have you been Haruno-san? We were looking all over for you.” Sakura looked over her locker door and smiled at Ten-Ten and Tayuya but her smile drooped a bit when she seen Kiba standing beside Ten-Ten, his arm wrapped protectively around her thin waist. Though Sakura may have liked Kiba – though not as much as Tayuya and Ten-Ten - it didn’t mean that she was comfortable around him. After the last performance for her attention when Ten-Ten wasn’t around – she was away on a trip to another school for a meeting with their school President – Sakura grew to learn to be wary around him and to make sure that she was not left with him by herself.

“Sakura?”

“Huh?” Sakura snapped out of her lapse and blinked repeatedly at her friends before focusing her attention on Tayuya.

“What's wrong with you Sakura? We’re busy talking to you and you go all spacey on us,” Tayuya said, waving her hands quickly in the air beside her head as she said the word ‘spacey’. Kiba rolled his eyes at the redhead and tightened his hold on Ten-Ten’s waist.

“Very adult of you using the word spacey Tayuya,” he muttered. Tayuya shot the scraggly brunet a cold glare before turning her gaze back to the rosette.

“Anyway, Sakura, the point is we were…worried, that’s all.” Tayuya said the latter softly as her cheeks tinged a light red. Sakura paused briefly before shutting her locker door, a smile evident on her face. So they were worried…about her? A small inflation of love bloomed in her chest and Sakura had to fight off the sudden need to bring her friends into a bone crushing hug.

“I was just getting some fresh air Tayuya. It’s no biggie,” she replied. She adjusted the strap of her knapsack and started down the hall, her friends following closely behind.

*

Sakura covered her ears with her hands and her face was twisted into a grimace. Ten-Ten was currently standing beside her, cheering on the football players – really Kiba – at their practice. God, please let Ten-Ten lose her voice so she could stop her damn irritating screeching, Sakura pleaded. She could feel a headache coming and she rubbed her fingers against her temples in an attempt to stop the unbearable pressure from coming. A week had passed without any further altercations between Sakura or her uncle. Sakura was in a good mood until Ten-Ten had opened her mouth and since then, her good mood vanished to annoyance.

“Hey Haruno-san--”

“Ten-Ten, what have I told you about calling me that? Please, just call me Sakura, okay?” Ten-Ten blinked and stared at the pink blonde for a moment before slowly smiling and nodding her head.

“All right Sakura-san.” Sakura's eye twitched but said nothing more. Ten-Ten grinned more brightly. It was too much fun annoying her pink haired friend. She sidled herself closer to the pink haired girl and giggled. “Hey Sakura-san, do you think Kiba looks great in his uniform?” Ten-Ten asked. Sakura looked at the brown haired girl in shock. What the hell was she smoking to be asking her something like that? Like hell she would ever think that that cheating bastard of a boyfriend of hers would ever look good in anything.

But though Sakura may think that about the brunet, she would never outwardly say it to her friend. At least not in that harsh of a tone. Opting to not give a verbal answer, Sakura just shrugged her shoulders nonchalant. Ten-Ten gazed at her before bursting into a series of soft, gentle laughter.

“You don’t really care for Kiba like that, do you?” she asked.

“What do you mean Ten-Ten? Kiba's my friend, of course I care about him,” Sakura half-lied. She was telling a bit of the truth. Kiba is her friend, so of course she had to have some sort of feelings for him, but that was as far as they would go. Ten-Ten laughed again and popped a grape-flavored piece of bubblegum into her mouth.

“You don’t have to lie to me Sakura-san. It’s okay if you don’t like Kiba. Tayuya can't stand Kiba but she still is my friend, so don’t worry your little head about how I would react, okay?” Sakura nodded. At least she didn’t have to lie about her feelings for the brunet. As Ten-Ten started to talk animatedly about nothing really in importance, Sakura decided to tune her out and nodded absently at the appropriate times. Turning away from her friend, emerald eyes wandered lazily over the benches until they spotted a head full of dark hair buried down in a book. It took a moment for Sakura to realize who it was since she couldn’t see the face,

“Look, it’s that boy I told you about, you know with the bastard-y attitude and the girly looks,” Sakura said, tugging on Ten-Ten’s shirtsleeve.

Ten-Ten looked in the direction that Sakura was pointing in and she frowned. “Oh my God, not him,” she said in disgust.

“What about him Ten-Ten?” Sakura asked, confused.

“He is no one of importance, he’s a loser. All he does is just wander around the school like an idiot and skips all his classes. He’s a damn failure, that’s all. He’ll never amount to anything.”

Sakura just stared at her friend in silence, her mind working around what Ten-Ten had just told her. Sasuke's…like me…well, kind of like me, but still… She looked back to Sasuke to see his hand still in his book. A determined look quickly came to Sakura's face as she rose to her feet. “I'm going to go say hi,” she announced.

“No Sakura-san, don’t waste your time with him. He’s a loner and hates company,” Ten-Ten said.

“I don’t care. I still want to say hi to him. I’ll be right back,” Sakura said. She turned and walked over to him.

“Um, hi?” Sasuke didn’t acknowledge the greeting. Sakura cleared her throat, undeterred. Should’ve known he would act like a bastard now. “Uh, do you remember me?”

“How could I forget? You really can't just forget an annoying bitch like you, you know?” he replied, still never lifting his gaze from the book.

Deciding to ignore that comment, Sakura cleared her throat again. “Uh, I noticed that you looked kind of lonely sitting over here by yourself and I was wondering if you would like to come sit with my friend, Ten-Ten and I.”

His gaze lifted – finally – passing dismissively over Sakura's face before he scoffed softly and returned to his book. “I don’t think so,” he stated flatly. Sakura felt like she could just scream at the top of her lungs in frustration. Why was he making everything so…so…fucking hard?

“Why not Sasuke? I mean, you look lonely over here by yourself and I just wanted to extend an invitation to you.”

Sasuke stopped reading – Sakura could tell because his eyes had stopped moving across the page – and he slid a finger along the edge of his page and marked the spot by folding down the corner before closing the book. “Let’s get one thing straight you pink headed bitch.”

“Excuse--”

“Shut up!” Sakura clamped her mouth shut. “I'm talking so you keep your fucking mouth shut. Now let’s get one thing fucking straight: I am NOT LONELY. I choose to be by myself because I cannot STAND people in this fucking, irritating as hell private school, especially you. Now about your little invitation, why the fuck would I accept one from the likes of you? You are too much of a whiny little bitch to even think about hanging out with. Now would you please leave? Me. The. Fuck. Alone?”

“You – you – you--”

“Ah, can't you come up with anything more…intelligent to say?” Sasuke mocked.

“Shut up Sasuke!” Sakura shouted.

“Why should I, you pink headed freak?” Sasuke egged on.

Punch. Sakura watched in glee as the blood leaked from Sasuke’s nose. Sasuke glared heavily at Sakura as his right hand cupped his bloody nose. Damn, she had one hell of a punch on her.

“You stupid ass bastard. All I was trying to do was be fucking nice to your stuck-up ass, but NO! You can't just accept a fucking invitation; you have to go and make sure that you're a fucking idiot and crush all niceness under your fucking feet. You know what, FUCK YOU SASUKE!” She stalked off; steam practically steaming out of her ears.

“Let me guess? Things didn’t quite work out the way you wanted them to, now did they?” Ten-Ten asked with a smug smile on her face when she seen Sakura approaching her seat. Her entire face was bright red and her hands were clenched tightly at her sides. She could’ve sworn that she actually seen steam ejecting from her ears.

Sakura stopped and focused her eyes on her brown haired friend for a moment and then looked down at her hand. Speckles of blood covered her knuckles and for a reason unknown, she smiled.

“No they didn’t Ten-Ten. In fact, they went a lot better than I thought.”
