I want you to want me
Chapter 2
“I’m really, REALLY sorry Sasuke,” Naruto said for about the tenth time in the last five minutes.
Sasuke growled as a warning for him to shut up. He had let his friend come over for the first time in over a year. With Itachi’s declaration of love, he no longer felt nervous about his friend stealing his brother. The two lounged in the living room with the television playing some random show, meanwhile Mikoto was fixing them a snack.
“Just shut up if you value your life, dobe.”
“It wasn’t my fault,” he added. “But…. It wasn’t that bad, was it?”
Naruto’s voice had dropped to a whisper. Sasuke turned to him with wide eyes.
“What?!” the Uchiha hissed.
“Don’t get the wrong idea, teme! I…. damnit, I hate you.”
“The feeling is mutual. Now what the hell is this about?”
“You can’t tell,” Naruto whispered again, more urgently this time.
“Fine,” Sasuke rolled his eyes.
“I like someone. The way you like Itachi.”
“Itachi is my-”
“I know. But I’m not that stupid, Sasuke. Its obvious. But don't worry, I won’t tell, and I’m probably the only one who realizes its not just brotherly love,” the blonde reassured him. “But look, I like someone that way.. And I don’t want to be, well, you know. I don’t want to be a bad kisser. Just in case.”
Sasuke snorted. Somehow, Naruto had managed to convince him that his budding relationship was safe and ask for kissing advice all in the same breath. Blue eyes glared at him.
“I didn’t notice. And unless you were trying, how should I know?”
“Oh. That’s right, huh?”
Naruto frowned a little bit. The idea of asking Sasuke to help him practice crossed his mind for a moment. He dismissed it just as quickly, for neither him nor his brother would take too kindly to that request.
“Who is it?”
“Huh?”
“Who do you like?”
“Oh. Oh! Um, well. Its embarrassing.”
“Just tell me.”
“Its…. Kakashi-san.”
“Wha?! Haha! Like he’d ever go for someone like you!”
Sasuke laughed loudly at the thought of their mutual neighbor dating someone so much younger than himself. Sure, the man was a known pervert and probably not adverse to the idea. Still, it seemed too ludicrous that the man would go for the confession. If Naruto ever had the balls to confess.
“Shut up! He might. One day….”
“Don’t hold your breath.”
“Hmph. Where’s Itachi, anyways?” Naruto scrambled to change the subject.
“Does it matter?”
“I just haven’t seen him since that day.”
“Good,” Sasuke scowled.
He may be secure enough to let Naruto into his house, but he still hated the idea of the blonde and his brother speaking with each other. He supposed it should have helped that Naruto was in love with someone. But, it really didn’t. The thought of both of them as comrades in the area of forbidden love made him more at ease. Naruto had been the only one ever to be consider his best friend, besides his aniki. This common bond only brought the two boys closer in that area. He looked over to Naruto and sighed. His friend’s blue eyes shown with honest interest.
“He’s registering for this fall’s semester at his college. He just took the exams, remember?”
“Oh, yeah.. Well, I guess I’m only here until he gets back then?”
“If you want. I don’t mind so much either way. Just don't stay for the night.”
The blonde nodded. He understood perfectly well the meaning behind the words. Sasuke wanted his alone time with Itachi. With the older sibling busy, and their love being just about the most taboo thing Naruto could think of, any time they got together was treasured. Naruto wouldn’t have even forgiven himself for intruding.
“Maybe just for dinner,” he suggested.
“Sure,” Sasuke shrugged.
Mikoto chose that moment to enter the living room with a tray arranged with various snacks. She gushed over how Naruto had grown, and how it was such a shame the boy didn’t come over more. Naruto gave her a lame excuse about his dad having wanted him at home for his studies until recently. Sasuke’s mother had nodded her agreement. She almost danced out of the room when Sasuke informed her that they would have a guest for dinner. She obviously had a lot to plan for the event. The boys were left alone again to share the contents of the tray and watch television for a few hours.
The small traces of conversation from there had drifted steadily away from love interests.. They watched a horror movie for the sake of Sasuke’s sanity before watching Naruto’s daily dose of this stuff he called anime. No matter how many times he promised the raven the stuff was worth watching, Sasuke had yet to see anything he deemed worthy. Naruto attributed this fact to Sasuke’s picky personality. They were in the middle of an argument over Naruto’s latest favorite show when Itachi walked into the room silently.
“It just doesn’t make any sense, dobe. How can you like something so unrealistic?”
“Its not supposed to be! Its fan-ta-sy!” Naruto growled, annunciating the word. “Just because giant mecha wouldn’t actually exist, that doesn’t mean it can’t be entertaining.”
Itachi chuckled at that point. Both heads turned to his direction.
“He does have a point, otouto. Some things are only mean to entertain, whether they have a solid basis for a theory or not.”
Sasuke glared at Naruto, causing the smaller boy to shrink into the couch.
“Don’t side with him, aniki,” Sasuke pleaded.
Itachi crossed the distance between himself and the couch and sat down in the small space between his brother and the arm rest. Sasuke made no move to scoot away.
“Why the argument anyways? Why don’t we just find something everyone will enjoy watching.”
Naruto nodded quickly. Itachi took the remote controller from Sasuke’s hand gently and started sorting through the channels. Sasuke snuggled in closer to his brother to inhale deeply.
“Otouto….”
“Its okay,” Naruto said quickly. “I’d figured it out a long time ago.”
A dark eyebrow arched gracefully before a smirk touched Itachi’s soft lips. Sasuke blushed as he looked up to his brother’s face. The overwhelming urge to kiss those lips proved to be stronger than his will power. He pushed his body up and kissed the corner of the smirk Itachi wore. Naruto had the courtesy to look embarrassed before averting his gaze from the scene. Itachi took that chance to fully claim Sasuke’s lips in a kiss. It was relatively short, considering their mother was only a few rooms away, but definitely enough to keep them happy for the moment. Naruto didn’t even have a chance clear his throat loudly before they were broken apart and the television had settled on a movie everyone could stomach.
Sasuke settled for snuggling into Itachi’s side and dozing off while Naruto asked for love advice from the man. Itachi found the younger boy amusing and offered what he could on capturing Kakashi’s heart. The atmosphere was positively cozy when dinner was announced. Naruto was excited to go out and try some of the things suggested to him and Sasuke had taken a lovely nap. Itachi was smiling when he sat down to eat, much to his mother’s delight. Even their father had made it home early for once. The affair was enjoyable to say the least. Naruto kept the mood light with a fantastic tale of how he had beaten everyone at the water fight single-handedly. Sasuke promptly filled his family on the true happenings of the events while Naruto wilted.
When Mikoto asked Naruto to stay the night, he made up an excuse for having to go home. Sasuke sighed in relief when Naruto held true to his word. He had formulated a plan after half listening to his brother talk to his best friend. He had every intention of making Itachi eat his words about not sleeping with him yet. Itachi excused himself to his room to change while Sasuke walked Naruto to the door. The blonde seemed to see the mischievous glint in the older boy’s eyes as he said his farewells.
“Try not to be too loud,” Naruto warned with a wink.
“H-huh? How did you….”
“I’m not as stupid as everyone thinks I am.. Its cool man. Have fun. Or rather, good luck.”
Naruto snickered loudly when the door was slammed in his face. He wasted no time in heading home to give Sasuke his much needed privacy. Sasuke, on the other hand, lingered at the door. He waited until he heard his parents’ footsteps head down the hall to their rooms. Never before had he been so grateful that he and his brother slept upstairs far, far away from his parents’ room. Sasuke snuck upstairs quietly and hesitated again at Itachi’s closed door. He knew his aniki wouldn’t lock the door on him. After he had selfishly banged on the door repetitively and all too loudly at three in the morning one day and woken the whole house, Itachi had not once locked his door on his brother since.
The younger brother took a deep breath and grasped the doorknob. He was very nervous. His plan involved something he had always done. It had just never held such a meaning before. He jiggled the doorknob gently just to test whether it was locked or not, and thankfully it wasn’t. Sasuke took another deep breath and opened the door. He slipped inside before shutting it again. Itachi had been facing away from his door and now stood with the top half of his body turned to face his otouto. He held a shirt in his hands, preparing to slip in over his head and cover his bare chest. Sasuke frowned when he saw the soft pajama pants already clinging so wantonly to his brother’s figure. He shook his head violently. He was getting jealous over pants. He definitely had it bad.
Sasuke took a step forward. Itachi frowned a little. Each step the boy took towards the young man gained confidence the last didn’t quite have. Sasuke smiled innocently.
“What are you doing, otouto?” Itachi asked in a low voice.
Sasuke’s breath caught in his throat. His heart was sent racing at the tenor of his brother’s voice. It was much too sexy for its own good. Nevertheless, his steps never wavered. He smiled up brightly when he was mere inches from the naked flesh his fingers yearned to touch. He gave in to their desires and reached up to touch the smooth, unmarred skin before him. His smile stayed bright and as innocent as he could imagine. He let go of the breath he hadn’t noticed he was holding when he felt dizzier than usual. He felt Itachi tense underneath his touch. His inner smile was triumphant. His plan seemed like it was going to work better than he had hoped.
Without any form of warning, Sasuke wrapped his arms fully around his older brother’s midsection and pressed his cheek to the man’s side. The warm skin touching his soft cheek made him flush with anticipation. His fingers traced the muscles they could find in a frenzy. His innocent face got him this close, now his not-so-innocent hands had to convince his brother they should take it farther. July was just too far away for his tastes.
“I missed you today, aniki,” Sasuke whispered seductively.
Itachi shuddered in the arms wrapped tightly around him. His skin was prickling with the light touches. Wherever the fingers trailed along his skin, Itachi could swear there was a burn left behind. All that heat was rushing south all too quickly. Itachi was going to have a much harder time extracting himself from the inviting arms, and his self control was disappearing. He felt Sasuke’s hot breath against his chest and he swallowed loudly. He closed his eyes and gripped one of the boy’s arms.
“Let go of me, otouto.”
“I don’t want to, aniki.”
Itachi shuddered again. Sasuke’s voice was no more than a purr at this point. Fingers seemed much more urgent and his hands began to travel lower. The boy easily broke the grip on his arm. The recently freed hand moved to Itachi’s waistline to trace the edge of the pants. Sasuke moaned at the feel of the pale skin. He sank to his knees, trailing his cheek down Itachi’s side. His hand moved from the waistline to cup the visible bulge in the pants. Itachi jumped back and broke their contact. Sasuke frowned adorably up at him from his position on the floor.
“Is something wrong?” he questioned, tilting his head to one side.
“Get out, Sasuke.”
“No.”
Itachi took a deep breath. His self control returned with a vengeance and he stepped forward. He hauled Sasuke to his feet by the collar of his shirt. He drug the boy to his door and opened it roughly. He all but tossed his brother into the small hallway.. The half-hearted glare was the last thing of his brother Sasuke saw for the night. The door was slammed in his face while he stared at his brother with a pout. He heard the lock snap into place. Sasuke briefly thought of causing a scene until the door was opened for him, but the thought was immediately dismissed. This was hardly a favorable situation for him. It was best to leave well enough alone and regroup at a later date.
“So close,” he muttered to himself before stalking off to his room.
