Chapter 1

Chapter 1

The cycles of life have so many mysteries and coincidences. It seems when a debt was made to destiny, destiny would eventually come knocking. It does not matter that it takes one generation, two or even three, but it will always collect it rightful due.

For it seems destiny had planned to united Naruto and Shikamaru together, binding the two in a story that must be told. The story of true love. For none came close to the strength of these mere mortals.

I am eternally gratefully to be given the chance as the storyteller for the greatest love story of all time. Made greater simply by the fact that all events has came to past in reality. This was no fairytale cooked up by an overactive imagination.

It was written for a young couple, about an inexorable link between their families, only discovered by a chance meeting.

I was commissioned to write this novel by none other then Minto Uzumaki and Shikaku Nara, the very sons of the story’s heroes.

Yes, that was correct.

It seems the Nara and Uzumaki families are linked to one another with a bond too tight for us humans to understand.

Maybe it was a celestial contract?

Or maybe just a simple gift from the heaven itself to earth. Yet, this book hopefully would let all of us understand finally the meaning of true love, as well as the price it comes with.

Minto Uzumaki had returned home to Japan after ten years in the United States of America. He came back bearing his mother’s urn, her will and a letter in his back pocket. At twenty –six, he was given the role of police commissioner, following the footsteps of his father, Naruto.

He was to meet his second in command, one Shikaku Nara, four days later.

Love was instant as if it was instilled within their very genes.

They began dating after a year of friendship.

That where all the revelations began.

When past lies became apparent truths.

Two letters was destined to reunite. To bring up more questions then answers, sending these two detectives on a mission close to the heart and of utter most importance. A most unusual case, where the victim was love and the perpetrator was none other then power. A case of emotions, the past and their deceased fathers.

Sakura and Ino had died relatively the same time, around five years ago. Some insisted it was due to a heart break. Others stated it was anger that gave them heart attacks. Who was to know?

The topic arose when each was chatting away about the different perspectives people had now, to same gender love then their fathers’ time. It made it a hell lot easier then it was for their fathers.

Each was proud of their courageous father even if in their mothers’ eyes, their fathers have ‘abandoned’ them.

Once upon a time they too had felt that way. But upon receiving a mysterious letter in the mail, at age 21, telling them about an amazing love story, they realised just how wrong they were.

Then with the deaths of their mothers, they found among the precious belongings: a single farewell letter. One written by their father to their mother….

When they reach that part…Shikaku could not help but gasped.

How strikingly similar their stories are….could it be?

“Say Minto… what’s your father’s name?”

Minto curiously glanced at his boyfriend, his head tilted in that adorable way with large blue eyes wider then normal.

“Naruto….could it be…might it be….could chance really be that ironic?…Could your father be Shikamaru Nara?”

There was a dead silence, a pin could have been heard if dropped.

“Yes” whispered an awed Shikaku, shocked at the coincidences that happened in life.

Then there was no way out for them. A detective always loved a mystery and to them this was the biggest case of their lives.

With two determined faces they made a pact to untangled this web of lies – starting at the two letters.
