Law and Order SVU; The Uzumaki/Uchiha Chronicles Ch. 2

Bright sunlight shown through the slatted blinds of the police station the next morning, warming the blonde who lay asleep bent over his desk. He hadn’t gone home the previous night, wanting to get a head start on the case and see if he could at least try and figure Sai out. As it was, he had gotten nowhere and promptly fell asleep after telling himself he was going to quit and go home.
Upon the first to arrive at the station, Sasuke wasn’t surprised to find his lover asleep at his desk. He wasn’t really expecting the blonde to come home the previous night and didn’t wait up. Although it was frowned heavily upon for two agents to get involved, Sasuke felt it wasn’t really anyone’s damn business as long as they were able to keep themselves detached while at work.
Sasuke stepped closer to the blond and looked at the papers that littered Naruto’s desk; of course his lover would be that far ahead. It looked like the blonde had been trying to match up previous rape victims to see if the M.O.’s matched up in any way. He knew he picked a smart one.
Naruto, sensing someone next to him, slowly came out of sleep and looked over to his right where Sasuke was standing. He internally groaned at the look his lover sent him and knew he would be getting a lecture when they got home that night. “I know, I know… But I really want to get on this sooner rather than later. But so far, nothing.”
“Well, maybe it would be better if we actually talked to him first?” Sasuke suggested in mock sweetness. “That is if he talks at all.” he added in a more serious tone.
Naruto sighed and stood up. “I need coffee. What time is it anyway?”
“Almost seven; mind you I slept not a wink in your absence.” Sasuke smiled indignantly as he gently shoved Naruto out of the way of the coffee machine and started to make it himself. “You better at least try to look presentable before the Captain gets in. You know how she is with all nighters.”
As if on cue, a blonde busty woman wearing a form fitting business suit entered the office and raised an eyebrow upon seeing two of her detectives so early. “I know you two are eager to work, but seven?” Then it dawned on her. “Uzumaki… what have I told you about overworking yourself?”
Naruto rolled his eyes and headed back to his desk. “That it could cloud my judgment due to sleep deprivation and that it’s horrible for my stress level, I know. But I really wanted to get on this case. The vic is pretty messed up, not sure form the rape or just from life in general.”
“I’m sure you’ve already made sure he was coming in today…” The blonde woman walked further into the room as she headed toward her own private office.
“Hopefully he’ll show.” Sasuke cut in for the first t time as he perched himself atop Naruto’s desk. “He didn’t seem too cooperative last night.”
“Just make sure you talk to him sometime today. I also want you to figure out who he comes in contact with on a daily basis and have Nara and Sabaku question them. I want everyone; from co-workers to neighbors, got it?” With that the blonde woman entered her office and closed the door gently.
Naruto and Sasuke looked at each other. “Nothing we haven’t dealt with before.” Sasuke said with a slight shrug as he slid off of his partner’s desk and poured himself some coffee.
Naruto said nothing as he continued to stare at the files in front of him. “At least Temari will be doing what she does best…” he said distractedly.
Sasuke opened his mouth but then shut it again as Sai slowly walked into the unit. He smiled at the two detectives and approached Naruto’s desk. “I came like you asked. Um… I don’t really know what I’m supposed to do.”
Sasuke walked over to the smaller man and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. “We just need you to tell us what happened in as much detail as you can. Why don’t we talk in here.” He gestured to a secluded room just as detectives Shikamaru Nara and Temari Sabaku entered. Sasuke mouthed to Naruto to explain what was going on as he led Sai into the room and closed the door.
Temari; a fresh recruit among the SVU with curly blonde hair raised an eyebrow at Naruto.
Shikamaru; a ponytailed man in his early thirties, looked put off at best by his partner’s look. “Who’s the kid?” he asked, jerking his head toward the room Sasuke and Sai had just entered.
Naruto sighed and stood up. “Rape vic; twenty two, lives by himself on the upper east side, pretty rich kid for his age.”
“Let me guess, you want us to interview?” Temari asked as she sat down across from Naruto.
The blonde nodded. “Tsunade wants you to find out who he hangs out with.” He handed Shikamaru a piece of paper. “That’s his address, forensics is still cleaning up in there but we can ask neighbors.”
“Got it.” Shikamaru said as he grabbed the paper and followed Temari out of the building.
Naruto rubbed his temples before standing up and entering the questioning room.

“Have a seat Sai.” Sasuke gestured to a chair at the table. “Do you need anything; something to drink?”
Sai shook his head. “I’m alright. So, I guess you’re to ask me questions?”
Sasuke nodded and sat down next to the young man. “I want you to try to answer as accurately as you can, but if you can’t remember, it’s alright too.”
“Why isn’t detective Uzumaki here?”
Sasuke paused. “He’ll be here in a minute. Now I need you to tell me if you saw any glimpse of the man that raped you.”
The dark haired victim shook his head. “I didn’t see him… but I know he has long hair, I felt it on my skin.” H e gave a slight shiver at the memory. “He… told me that I was beautiful… but he was lying, I know I’m not.”
Sasuke was silent for a moment as he stalled his hand that was holding his pen. “Sai… Are you currently in a relationship?”
Sai looked up at Sasuke and nodded. “Yes; my boyfriend, Kakashi Hatake.”
At that moment the door cracked open and Naruto stepped into the room. He saw Sai’s eyes shift to him and seemed to alight a bit at his presence. He smiled and sat on his other side. “Sorry I took so long. I had to talk to some other detectives.” He turned to Sasuke. “What I miss?”
“Not much, just getting started. Now Sai, What did you do that day prior to the incident?”
“I went to class in the morning, and then spent the rest of the day studying… I have finals soon.” Sai continued to look toward Naruto and gently raised his hand as if to touch the blonde’s scarred cheek. “How did that happen?”
Naruto closed his eyes for a brief moment but then opened them again. His expression a bit harder. “Sai… did anything seem unusual yesterday? Was anyone watching you, following you… did anyone approach you that you didn’t know?”
Sai shook his head. “Nothing unusual happened. I did what I always do.”
Sasuke nodded. “Could you describe the rape? Do you know how the man entered your apartment?”
Sai shook his head. “I take a music history class and I was listening to a piece I was supposed to be studying on headphones. I didn’t hear anything until I was grabbed. He yanked my headphones off and told me to stand up. He sounded weird though, like he wasn’t sure of what he was doing. He kept pausing in his speech… I don’t know why, like he was rehearsing in his head what he was doing.”
Sasuke and Naruto listened intently. Sasuke had already pressed ‘record’ on the tape player in the room. “Then what happened?” he asked gently.
“After I stood up, he pushed me toward the bed and told me to take my clothes off and to lie on my stomach, I knew he didn’t want me to see him and I didn’t want to see him. He tied my wrists up with something and it was really tight, I could feel whatever it was cutting my skin.” His voice started to shake a fraction. “I tried to scream for help, but he hit me, not with his hand though, it was with something else… I don’t know what it was. Then he did it. The rape didn’t hurt… he was nice enough to use lubrication and he did it slow and gentle.”
Naruto raised an eyebrow and looked at Sasuke who just shrugged.
Sai continued. “After he finished, he kissed my neck and told me I was beautiful before he untied my wrists and left… That’s when I called 911.”
Sasuke pressed the stop button on the recorder and sat back in his chair. “Sai, could you tell us the names of your friends? We’d like to talk to them and ask them a few questions, is that ok?”
Sai quickly leaned forward. “They didn’t do anything… it wasn’t any of them.”
Naruto placed a hand on the man’s shoulder. “We know, we just need to ask them about anyone they’ve seen lately that seemed suspicious, nothing to worry about.”
Sai visibly relaxed and almost seemed to lean into Naruto’s touch as he calmed down. “Ok.” Was all he said. “Can I go now?”
Sasuke nodded. “We’ll call you if anything comes up. And you make sure to call us if you remember any more details.”
Sai nodded and quickly left the room.
Naruto sighted and stood up. “He seemed more frightened today. The realization of what happened probably set in after recalling the attack.”
Sasuke nodded. “I can’t help but think though, he said the guy paused a lot in his speech… almost like…”
“…He was being coached; but how? Unless it was a wire-tap or something…”
“Or, we’re dealing with more than one attacker.”
