I DO NOT OWN NARUTO. ALL UNORIGINAL WORK BELONGS TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNERS. AND NO, I AM NOT MAKING MONEY BY WRITING THIS. U MAD?
"How to Fail"
"Hero,come on! Where are you?"
"Heeeero! Hero!"
In the depths of the branches of a great big tree,a ninja crouched, concealed by the leaves. With a pen in one hand, and a scroll in the other, she scribbled down her strategy.
"Yeah..." she grinned. "This is perfect".
Calm, collected, and well-prepared. She won't allow the enemy to get a hold of her. If she must escape, she will do it with style.
That ninja is me.
I am-
"HERO!"
"UUWAAH!"
Nearly falling head first,I scrambled about to grab the book that tumbled out of my hands.
"Y-Yama!" I screamed, reeling my head around to yell at the orange-haired male that hovered over my shoulder. The boy's eyes followed the novel that sailed far below the trees, pages fluttering just before it hit the ground.
"Oh...Uh,H-Hero!" Yama inched back and gave a nervous laugh. "Uh,I...please don't make that face...I'm sorry about your novel!"
I slipped my tongue between my teeth,so as to not grind them together. It. Was a bad habit, and I didn't feel like visiting a dentist again. "Yama.." I sighed. "That's the third time this week. I told you not to sneak up on me like that, when I'm writing my stories!"
"Y-yeah,but ya see..." Yama stammered, scratching at the back of his head. Two ninja suddenly surrounded us. "We're kind of..on a mission".
I was then shocked back to reality,as the first ninja held a kunai to my commrad's throat.
"Where's the scroll, kid? Tell us where it is,or we won't be wasting any time killin' ya".
"Yeah," said the second ninja through the mask on his face. "Kadaj-sama's desperate enough for that scroll. He won't mind if we get our hands dirtied by a couple of kids, just a bit".
"A couple of kids," I scoffed, grabbing the first bandit by the arm,and tossing him out of the tree. "As if I'd let you!"
The airborne ninja reached for his partner in an instant of panic, bringing the two of them down together. Grabbing Yama by the wrist as he wobbled off balance,I flew down as well to retrieve my book.
"Well, now," I said, flipping through the pages. "We could go about this many ways. I've come up with different scenerios, you see. You want me to say a heroic catchphrase, and then I beat you into a pulp? Or should we fight some more, and then I use the last of my strength to deliver the final blow?"
"Sheesh,Hero...don't you ever do anything in a practical manner?" Yama whined, crossing his arms.
"Nope," I said, and closed the book.
"W-well,you already said your heroic catchphrase. Why don't we just bag 'em and take them back to the village? You know,we weren't supposed to kill them. Look, they're already shitting bricks, just lookin' at chya!"
The two enemy ninja knelt down on the ground in front of us,beginning to whimper and plead. "Please, lady! I have a brother to take care of back home!"
"Yeah,we're just following orders,please don't kill us!"
"HEROIC SMACK OF JUSTICE!" I exclaimed, giving them both a good whack over the head with my novel. "Ahem! Now,we will proceed with taking you both to our village. From there, you will deal with the interrogation team. Whatever happens to you is out of our hands,do you understand?"
"Y-yes!" cried the first ninja. Yama knelt down, and began to tie the two together.
Now that the villans were captured,we were ready to leave. After Yama was done restraining them,I turned towards the forest.
"Come on," I told him. "We're leaving now".
"L-leaving?" he stammered. "A-aren't you forgetting...?"
"Of course, she'd forget," a voice filled the silence. I turned my head in the direction of the source, and frowned.
"Well,it's not like we're gonna stand around and wait for you all day..." I mumbled. The raven-haired boy sauntered passed me,and stood a foot away. Slowly,I turned and started at his back. "Hmph...you're late. Taito".
Taito glanced over his shoulder and gave me a brief smirk."I wasn't told I had a time limit,Miss Heroin. Keeping watch at the start of the forest wasn't that 'easy' of a task,as you'd put it".
I rolled my eyes, and turned away. "What are you saying? Those eyes of yours not good enough to scan one small forest?"
"An entire forest!" Taito growled.whipping his head around to yell back. Yama waved his hands around timidly and stood between us.
"C-come on,now...can't we all just get along?"
"Who would get along with a crazy chick like her?"
"What'd you say?" I turned around. The two of us locked eyes. Suddenly, the whole entire arguement had simmered down into a simple glaring contest. My teeth ground against eachother, without my tongue there to prevent any damage. Taito's eyes glowed, sizing me up. Three dark crescents formed within his blood-red irises, all parallel and symmetrical to one another. I watched them shrink, and begin to rotate around his pupil.
"Huh. You're a one-trick pony. Can't those eyes do anything else?"
"Anything else?" Taito repeated, taking a step forward. Again,Yama struggled to force his way between us.
"Ooookay! That's enough for one day! Let's not have a little rivaling quarrel lead to the failure of our mission. Okay?"
Taito took another step forward, forcing Yama to step out before he became sandwhiched. I wasn't a fool, though, unlike Taito. This was the time to stop; I knew when to quit.
"Don't worry about him,Yama," I said, turning away and waving a hand. "The amount of self-confidence he holds is very similar to the size of his dick," I turned around to give Taito a grin.
"Ti~ny!"
"Why,you-!"
"Enough, you three!" shouted an authorative voice. The three of us turned to see our teacher and team leader emerging from the shadows of the forest.
"Itazura-sensei!" Yama exclaimed, leaping forward to greet the man. Itazura gave a slight chuckle, combing his fingers through his dark mane of hair, before trying to pry the boy off of him. "Oh,Sensei! They were doing it again! Hero was all,'How do you wanna die?' And then the bandits were all,'Noo,my brother!' And then,Taito came back and the bandits are gone--HOEEE! THE BANDITS ARE GONE!"
"Later,IDIOTS!"
We looked to the trees, where the bandits had escaped. The first stuck out his tongue, and promptly gave us the finger.
"And for the record,I don't have a brother! I suggest you work on your teamwork!"
"H-hey! This isn't how it happens at the end of my story!" I shouted, shaking my fist. "You get back here, right now and-"
"Forget it," said Taito, placing a hand on my shoulder. My body trembled with anger.
I shook it off and walked away.
My story was ruined. It really is a bad idea to write things in permanent ink...
/Flashback
"Hey...Hero?"
"Hmm..?" I paused at set down my pen. Hatori inched closer, and leaned over my shoulder.
"...It seems you have made an error in your writing today..."
"An error?" I repeated, looking down at the paper.
"Yes,there," he pointed. My eyes followed his fingers to the word on the left page. "You've written,'the',twice"
"Ah...you're right" I sighed, and crossed out the extra word with my pen. "It's too bad...I wish I had a pen". Hatori nodded once, though he'd already returned to his drawing. "Pen is okay...for things like that. But I guess when you're writing, you might find it easier to make mistakes. Art is so abstract,it's...easy to correct things..."
Hatori set down his pen,and turned his attention to me. "You really think so?"
"I think so," I smiled. He stared back at me,and then back to his drawing once more. "I never...well,I'm always making mistakes, you see..."
"I don't think it's that easy to make a mistake...it's art. Whatever you draw comes straight from your mind" I insisted. My eyes fell to the ink sketch in Hatori's lap. Before I could get a closer look at it though, his hand slid over the paper.
"Please, don't look..it's not done yet..." he told me.
"Oh,well alright," I said, and leaned away. Hatori was always drawing beautiful things. At this rate,I was really curious. But I would wait, since he had asked me to.
"You can see when it's done," he added, though he was lost somewhere now, deep in his art. I felt excited. It was something I could look forward to.
As for my writing,I'd made a few mistakes, but I would definitely work on it.
Once again,I picked up my pen and began to write. Hatori... I thought. You can also see my work...when it's done
