G: Trust me, it’s yaoi, it’ll be revealed why in the next ouple chapters. Thanks for reading!!! MisatosPenPen: Sasuke’s pretty open minded so you never know! XD Jessica: Anticipation is your best bet! XD ====================================================================== The next afternoon found Sasuke outside his home in the large garden patio waiting for to meet the woman he was supposed to be marrying. He sat almost slumped in his seat, his light blue button down shirt, black slacks, and black coat looked perfectly pressed but that wasn’t because of the occasion; Sasuke was just very anal about looking nice at all times. He straightened a bit when the french doors opened and a young woman stepped out. The first thing Sasuke noted... and the first thing that he hated, was she had pink hair... Why? He had no clue but it was atrocious. But like the good host he was brought up to be, stood and walked toward her.
“You must be Sakura Haruno...” He didn’t bother to take her hand like he had done with Naruko, he hated this woman from the moment she stepped out into his backyard.
Sakura flashed her brightest smile and flipped her long hair over her shoulder as she carefully stepped across the masonry, her pink heels clicking loudly. They were offset with a red, Chinese-style dress with a matching purse.
“And you must be my soon-to-be husband, Sasuke Uchiha,” she purred, extending her hand, her fingers tipped with gaudy pink nails. “I’ve been waiting so long to meet you… ever since daddy promised he’d get you for me a year ago. I’m so glad you’re going to be mine, finally.”
Sasuke ignored the comment, although he bristled at being called a mere object. Turning he sat down at the table once more and gestured to the chair across from him. “Would you like to sit? Lunch should be brought out in a minute...”
He noticed that he had started to compare Sakura to Naruko for some reason. Probably because Naruko was so much more attractive; physically and personality wise. But what really put Sasuke off the most was the ‘pink’ theme Sakura had going on, it was hideous and really awful to look at, not to mention her clothing was plain... at least compared to Naruko’s cute lacy dress... He sighed mentally, hating the situation even more now. All he could think about was Naruko.
“I’d love to,” Sakura, grinned, seating herself at the table across from Sasuke. The butler came out a moment later with glasses of water. She grimaced as she looked at the plain glass. “I’d like mine with lemon. Take it back,” she snapped, waving her hand at him before turning her attention to Sasuke.
“So, I wanted to talk to you about our wedding… our fathers have given me permission to plan the entire thing, at their expense, of course. It’s going to be huge, and everyone important will be there, after all. It’s going to be on TV, can you believe that? Our special moment captured forever! Nobody will miss it that way, even the poor people that have no chance of being invited.”
Sasuke sighed out loud this time. Already she was being extremely rude and annoying. He would probably kill her eventually... and he really entertained that thought. To spend a lifetime with this woman would just be too cruel a punishment.
“Please, I’d appreciate it if you weren’t rude to those who work for me and my father... and as for the wedding... why does it have to be televised? I’m sure it’ll be just as nice without a bunch of reporters.” He couldn’t help but think of Naruko once more, her sweet demeanor was just so much more appealing. He’d rather be in her company at the moment.
“They’re just the help…” Sakura rolled her eyes and when her new water was brought out, she just ignored him, reaching for the glass and taking a sip.
“Of course it has to be televised!” She sighed in irritation. “Everyone’s looking forward to our wedding, Sasuke, and I want everyone to see me when I walk down the aisle in my beautiful rose coloured dress…. It’s going to be amazing!” Sakura took another sip of her water, looking him over. “How would you feel about wearing a rose coloured button-down to match my dress?”
“Usually when a woman gets married, she wears a white dress... Isn’t it kind of insulting to wear any other color?” Sasuke leaned back in his chair, extremely fed up already. He’d barely spent ten minutes with her and already he loathed to spend anymore time, or rather waste anymore time, in her company. “And no, I’m not wearing pink...”
Sakura scoffed. “I’m not wearing white. I’d look just like any other bride and I have to be different. Better.” She smiled superficially, reaching her hand across the table and placing it on top of Sasuke’s. “I’m marrying the Sasuke Uchiha, so I have to look amazing.”
Their food was brought out on domed platters seconds later, and the butler set one in front of Sakura, lifting the lid before doing the same for Sasuke. He bowed and then left them alone again.
“We’ll see about the shirt thing,” she said, waving her fork. She stabbed it into the salad and took a small bite. “I’m sure your father will agree with me. After all, he did say I could do whatever I want, and I want you in a pink shirt.”
Sasuke was on the verge of just walking away from it all right then and there. He didn’t like her, and he certainly didn’t want to marry her. The night before he had been thinking about the situation and had decided he should at least give the woman a chance... And since he had met her, he threw that plan out the window.
He began to eat, even though he wasn’t hungry. He hated wasting food, especially when it was made for him by someone else. He said nothing, not really wanting to engage her in conversation so he just opted to stay quiet. But if she touched him again, he wouldn’t be liable for his actions.
“I was also thinking that we should try for children right away,” the pink haired girl mused. “Make some nice little Uchiha heirs… I’m sure your father would appreciate that.” She giggled, the sound high pitched. “Or maybe I’m just looking forward to the wedding night… I can’t wait to get a piece of you…”
Her aqua eyes trailed hungrily over his body; she didn’t even bother to hide it. “Oh! Where did you want to go on our honeymoon? I figure I should give you a choice in something… but I get to veto wherever I don’t want to go,” she smirked.
Thinking of sex with Sakura almost made the raven lose what little he had in his stomach. It obviously wasn’t appealing and the way she said ‘get a piece of you’ really pissed him off. “I don’t care really... You’re already deciding everything else, why not the honeymoon as well? And for the record, I don’t want kids, my brother has already had three kids, I think that’s enough for my father.”
“I’m sorry, did I say you had a choice?” Sakura snapped, her eyes narrowing. “Your father has already agreed with me. It’s in the contract you will be signing – at my insistence of course. You have to have at least two children with me, or you’ll have broken the contract. You know what happens then, Sasuke. You’ll be cut off completely. No more money, no big houses and fancy cars… You’ll be giving it all up, and I’m sure you’d come to regret it. What’s a couple of kids, anyway? We’ll just get a nanny, so we won’t have to deal with them.”
It was the final straw for the raven. He stood abruptly and towered over the pink haired woman. “Listen to me, I don’t give shit what happens to my money, I’m not signing any contract to have kids with you. What kind of an idiotic person thinks up something like that? And for the record, I don’t want to marry you, I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now. You think I can’t make my own money? Well unlike you, I don’t rely on my father for financial support, I could easily quit and get a similar, maybe even better job in a heartbeat.” He took a deep breath, relishing the fear in the woman’s eyes. “I know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking I’m going to hit you don’t you? I bet you want me too...” with that, he stormed off inside the house, his mind raging but his body remained relaxed. He had to get out of there...
Sakura slowly stood from the table, watching as her fiancé stormed away. Didn’t want to marry her…. She didn’t believe that. She was desirable and she could get Sasuke to like her. But first she had to figure out what was going on, because there was something deeper at work.
Throwing her cloth napkin down on the table, she straightened, raising her chin as she made her way back towards the house. Once she’d made it back to her pink convertible, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Fugaku Uchiha’s personal number. “Hello, Fugaku? Yes, it’s Sakura… I wanted to speak with you about Sasuke…”
xx
The raven glared at the road as he drove. His black Lexus LFA smoothly making its way along the freeway. He clenched the steering wheel as he leaned back a bit in the dark red leather seat, flipping his sunglasses down over his eyes. He knew exactly where he was going but he pretended it was an accident when he ended up parking next to a recognizable bar.
Stepping out, he noted there were more people in there, probably because it was earlier in the evening as apposed to 1am when he had visited that morning. Stepping into the bar, he looked immediately toward the long table, immediately spotting Naruko behind the counter, serving a few drinks. She looked even better in daylight, the sun streaming in through a nearby window and bathing her in the light glow.
His mind calmed marginally and he headed over to the bar, sitting down directly in front of her, not saying a word, just smiling.
Naruko’s head lifted when she saw a shadow fall in front of her as someone sat down. Her eyes widened slightly when they met the beautiful dark ones that could only belong to one person.
“You came back,” she breathed, smiling brightly. She knew she shouldn’t be that happy, considering the Uchiha was engaged, but she couldn’t help it… Call her crazy, but she really liked him.
“Are you here to drink, or visit? Or both?” she teased, her eyes even brighter than normal (if that was possible), with her happiness.
“Both actually. I... I met her today.” He snorted indignantly and shook his head. “Not exactly the best choice.” He smiled at the blond, noting that her hair was up again. Not that he minded, he liked her hair regardless of if it was up or down.
“The wife?” Naruko grimaced. “There’s always a choice, you know. You don’t have to marry her; you can choose your own path, Sasuke. Is a lifetime of unhappiness worth keeping your father happy?” She raised a delicate brow as she finished washing out a glass.
“Anyway, what can I get you, hun? Do you need another of my super strong drinks?” she smirked. “Or do you want to try something else?”
Sasuke knew Naruko was right but he just couldn’t bring himself to just throw everything away. For one, he had nowhere to go, knowing full well he wouldn’t be welcome at home if he called off the marriage. But she was right, it wasn’t worth it if he was just going to be unhappy.
“Surprise me...” he said, his eyes never leaving the blue one’s. “Oh that reminds me, I forgot to pay you for the drinks last night...”
“Well, that’s understandable. We did get a little distracted,” Naruko giggled quietly, the sound pleasant. She grabbed a glass, a bottle of her best whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup. Grabbing a shaker, she added the ingredients and shook it up, pouring it into the glass and adding a cherry for garnish.
“A whiskey sour.” She placed it on a dark blue coaster in front of the raven. “And don’t worry, I only added the normal amount of alcohol. I won’t get you drunk unless you ask me to,” she laughed.
Sasuke smiled and took a sip of the drink, loving the way the alcohol burned going down. “You have no idea how good it is to see you again... “ He took another sip and just couldn’t help but continue to just gaze at the girl behind the bar. “I don’t really know how to explain it... I just feel so connected with you for some reason. Just walking in here last night I felt it...”
“You’re not the only one who feels that way…” Naruko smiled. “It’s weird, isn’t it? To feel so connected with someone you just met… It’s kind of amazing.” She stepped back to grab a rag from the counter behind her, showing off a different dress. This one was black and white, with little long sleeves that fanned out around her hands, and a high, white collar, a bow situated just at her throat. It was paired off with black stockings trimmed in white lace and little heeled shoes that laced up around her ankles.
The man next to Sasuke gave the blonde an appreciative glance. “Hey, baby,” he called, holding up his empty bottle. “Grab me another one?”
Naruko nodded and bent over to grab a new bottle of beer from the fridge. As she did, her dress rode up to show off perfectly tanned thighs.
“Get a load of her, huh?” the man grinned at Sasuke. “God, I would come here every day just to look at that sweet ass…”
It was weird, Sasuke suddenly felt the tension enter his body again. He wanted nothing more than to hit the guy for saying something so demeaning... Although, he knew that would be a stupid thing to do considering the fact that he wasn’t officially with Naruko, he still wanted to kick some ass. “I’m sure she doesn’t appreciate being spoken about as if she can’t hear you... Plus, I’m sure she wouldn’t want someone like you, you’re what... in your forties?”
The man shrugged. “If she didn’t want guys looking at her, she wouldn’t dress like such a little slut. She wants attention, obviously. What the fuck’s wrong with giving it to her? I’m paying for my drinks; I’m a customer, and I can do whatever the fuck I want.”
Naruko cleared her throat, now standing in front of them. She handed the man his beer without a word and offered Sasuke a tight smile. She knew she couldn’t say anything; the man was on the city council and he was very influential. If she could keep him happy, she might gain a bigger customer base.
As long as she could keep her temper in check.
“I’ll be right back…” she murmured, keeping her gaze locked with Sasuke a moment longer before heading towards the back office.
Sasuke hesitated for just a moment, still glaring at the man out of the corner of his eye. He finished up his drink and stood, heading toward the ‘restroom’, the office being right next to them. He quietly slipped inside and shut the door behind him.
“Are you alright?” he asked tentatively, spotting the blond looking over some papers, knowing she was just trying to keep herself occupied.
Naruko didn’t glance up at Sasuke spoke, having expected him to follow. “I’m fine, I just needed a minute to cool down. I don’t like when people talk about me like that, but there’s nothing I can really do. You know who he is, right? He could bring in so much business… Even if they’re all coming to gawk at me. As long as they buy drinks…”
She shrugged and turned to face the raven, her smile a little more genuine. She reached out and curled her fingers in his shirt, gently tugging him towards her. Taking a deep breath, she let it out shakily. “I’m okay. Really.”
Wrapping his arms around her waist instantly, Sasuke lowered his mouth, needing to feel those soft lips on his own again. The kiss was tender and soft and not really sexual, just sweet. “You shouldn’t take that though, no matter how much business he can bring in, you’re not an object.” He was reminded of earlier that day when his fiance basically had called him a ‘present’.
“I know,” the blonde sighed. “But you probably understand better than anyone… I can’t fail at this. If I did, I would have to go crawling back to my father… I love the man, but I want to be on my own. Imagine how embarrassing it would be to have to go to him and tell him I failed and lost the bar? Went bankrupt?”
She shook her head and slid her hands up Sasuke’s chest, resting them there. Her smile was a little more genuine then. “It’s okay, Sasuke. They’re just words. I know they aren’t true. The way I dress has nothing to do with me. I just like pretty dresses.”
“Well... I like that you like pretty dresses. I think you’re beautiful no matter what you wear.” His hand brushed against her tan cheek, feeling the softness of her skin. “I really don’t want to do this... get married I mean, she’s awful... She’s nothing compared to you...” Sasuke’s lips touched hers once more, his tongue running along her bottom lip this time. “God you have no idea what you do to me.”
The blonde’s scarred cheeks flushed lightly beneath the gentle touch at the compliment, and her hands rubbed up and down Sasuke’s chest, her nails dragging. “I think I do have an idea… because you do the same to me,” she whispered.
Leaning up on her toes, she pressed her lips to the raven’s again, sighing contentedly as they connected. She didn’t pull away, keeping the kiss slow and thorough. “I’m not going to tell you what I think you should do. It’s your call in the end, Sasuke, but you need to think about it. Not just what you want now, but what you’re going to want in your future, too.”
Sasuke nodded, knowing she was right, he had to make a decision about what he was going to do. He knew what he wanted to do right then but he wasn’t sure if he was prepared to be cut off completely from his family. “I do know what I want... it’s just not something I can just do without warning, I want to know that I can at least support myself. If I refused this engagement.. I’d be completely cut off.”
“I know. Which is why you need to think carefully about it,” Naruko smiled. “But if you do decide you’d rather be on your own, just remember… You’re not really alone.”
Sliding her hands around Sasuke’s waist, she hopped up on top of the desk and pulled him in between her legs. “I probably shouldn’t leave the bar or too long… Everyone’s going to run out of drinks.”
“Perhaps we can continue this later then?” Sasuke smirked as he stepped forward, his hands resting on her bare thighs. “You look so good today...”
“I’d rather continue now,” Naruko pouted, her full bottom lip jutting out. She shivered pleasantly as those strong hands touched her bare skin. Her eyes shone with desire as she raised her head and met Sasuke’s gaze.
“Thank you. I’m glad someone appreciates my dresses.” She traced a little pattern along Sasuke’s stomach with her nail before hoping off the desk. “You’re right, though. If I want to make this place successful, I shouldn’t be ignoring everyone…” Reluctantly, she started heading towards the door.
Sasuke followed a few minutes after Naruko had left so it wouldn’t look strange that both were leaving the small hallways at the same time. He sat back down where he had been, noticing the man next to him had since left. He watched as the blond served a few new patrons and waited until she was available again to order another drink. He would no doubt be getting a call from his father soon and he needed something to help him prepare for the painfully difficult conversation he knew would be coming.
A few hours passed before Naruko was offered a break from the steady stream of customers. While she was ecstatic that the night was successful, she wished she could spend some more time with Sasuke, who… She looked up, her eyes searching him out, only to find he’d disappeared while she’d been making a drink. Hopefully he’d just gone to the washroom or something… The bar closed in two hours and she hoped to spend some time with him then.
Standing outside the bar, near his car, Sasuke stood with a cigarette in one hand and his cell phone to his ear. It was his father, of course. Sakura hadn’t been too happy about his little fit earlier.
“You don’t even know what I’m talking about, you weren’t there... Why the hell do you need more grandchildren, Itachi’s doing that just fine already... She’s rude and I highly doubt she even gives two shits about my happiness...” Sasuke began to pace in front of his car, he noticed a lot of people had left the bar and looked at his watch, Naruko closed in two hours... “I don’t know what I want to do... I know what will happen you don’t have to keep threatening me with that... I just need time to think it through this is a whole mess of shit you’ve thrown at me all at once, I need time to process it... No, I don’t know when I’ll be home.” He hung up and shoved his phone back in his pocket, taking a grateful drag of his cigarette, leaning against his car, just thinking about his situation.
On one hand he had Naruko, someone that he really felt a connection to. And then there was Sakura, a woman he hated but was expected to marry. He knew what he really wanted, but he also knew that he was loyal to his family... the decision was eating at him...
Naruko waited ten more minutes before she left the bar and peeked outside the front door. She immediately spotted Sasuke leaning against his car and made her way towards him. “I was worried you’d left me for a second.”
Seeing the look on Sasuke’s face, she grew quiet as she stood beside him. Without a word, she reached up and gently took the cigarette from him, taking a long drag and exhaling a plume of smoke. “It must have been your father that called. Do you have to leave?”
Sighing as he saw Naruko approach, he was able to calm down just a bit, not minding at all when she grabbed his cigarette. “No, I don’t have to leave, I just got chewed out though for ‘being rude to my fiance’...” he snorted, pulling out another cigarette and offering it to the blond.
Naruko took the smoke with a grateful smile and handed Sasuke’s back to him. She grabbed his lighter and lit up, taking in another long drag.
“What’s your fiancée like?” she asked quietly, staring down at the pavement.
“Typical spoiled rich pain in the ass. She thinks I’m her ‘present from daddy’ and then she tried to force me to sign a contract to have kids with her. I wouldn’t even touch her, let alone fuck her.” Sasuke scoffed, his fingers running through his dark locks in frustration. “She’s taking this way too far, I don’t even want kids... my brother has kids nd trust me, I don’t think I could handle it.”
“Well, if you do marry her, you’ll have to fuck her. You know, consummate the marriage and all that,” Naruko pointed out, leaning back against the flashy car and flicking some ashes off her cigarette.
“I’ve always wanted kids… Not anytime soon, I’m too young. But I’ve always wanted a family. I’m an only child and I never really had any friend’s growing up, or family. My mother died when I was young and my father raised me, kind of. It was mostly the nanny.” She smiled sadly, realizing they maybe didn’t have a future if they both wanted different things. She would never force anyone to have children with her. “It wouldn’t be natural,” she continued quietly. “I’d love to adopt a kid that needs a home and give them everything I never had.”
“It’s not that I don’t like kids.. I just don’t think I’d make a very good parent.” He shrugged and took another drag of his smoke before putting it out on the ground next to him. “If I may ask, why do you want to adopt? I know it’s a good thing to do for children in need of families but.. wouldn’t you like to have your own as well?”
“I can’t have children,” Naruko whispered, though she didn’t elaborate on the reason why. “It’s not possible for me. The only option for me is to adopt, but I kind of prefer it that way. I think it’s better to help kids that need it rather than just making more.”
She shrugged and soon dropped the cigarette butt on the ground, putting it out beneath her shoe. “And for what it’s worth, I think you’d make a great father. I’ve had a little glimpse at what’s inside,” she smiled, poking him in the chest. “And it’s amazing.”
Sasuke felt instantly horrible for asking something so personal. He wondered why Naruko couldn’t have children... He wasn’t going to ask though, at least not until she was going to willingly tell him.
Smiling at her compliment, the raven couldn’t help himself and he kissed her softly. “Thanks... that means a lot. Especially after the kind of day I had...”
“I’m sorry it was so horrible. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be put in such a position,” the blonde murmured, leaning against Sasuke. “Torn between your family and what you actually want… I guess I lucked out. My father doesn’t care who I’m with as long as I’m happy.”
Her lips curved into a wicked little smirk as she pushed away from him and sauntered back towards the bar, her hips swaying gracefully. “Hopefully I can take your mind off it once I close…”
Watching her as she walked away, Sasuke couldn’t help but follow. He couldln’t help it, he just needed to be near her.
Two hours later Sasuke sat at the bar once more, a drink in hand as he watched Naruko clean up, getting ready to close. He was delightfully buzzed and smiled as he watched her slender body move around the room. At that point he didn’t care that he was going to be cheating on Sakura again, hell, he wouldn’t think twice about it, even if she found out, the pink haired woman would probably just throw a fit and be done with it, not really being affected at all.
“You know, I was just thinking... Maybe we could go somewhere else tonight... You know, where there’s a bed?” He knew he was being a bit forward but he really wanted to take this to the next level. Hell, he hadn’t even seen her naked yet.
Naruko glanced up and froze, worrying her bottom lip as she thought about it. She absently twirled a long strand of her hair, since she’d taken it down not long after they’d come back inside. “I don’t know, Sasuke… Are you sure we couldn’t just stay here?”
Slipping out from beneath the bar, she flipped the sign off and locked the door so she could finish cleaning up. As she wiped down the counters, she was still thinking. Guilt, the like she’d never felt before, had taken hold of her. If she wanted things to work out, she knew she needed to do this. “Okay… My place isn’t too far from here. Do you want to go there?”
Smiling, Sasuke nodded slightly and finished off his drink. “That sounds good to me. But... I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable or anything.” He had noticed the blond’s look of uncertainty before she had agreed and he wasn’t sure where that had come from.
“No… No, it’s okay. I want to do this.” Naruko reached for Sasuke’s glass and washed it out, drying it before setting it back in its place. Once she’d finished all the cash stuff and grabbed her tips, she walked into the office to grab her purse.
“Let’s go then. I guess you’ll have to follow me, so you don’t have to leave your car here?” she asked, raising a brow as she set the alarm and then locked up.
“Yeah, do you live far?” Sasuke followed the blond out into the early morning air. He could feel an awkward moment between them and didn’t like it. He would have prefered their well aquainted company that they had shared the previous morning.
“No, I live pretty close,” Naruko smiled, trying to ease the tension that had appeared between them. She sauntered up to Sasuke and closed her fingers in his shirt, tugging him down and catching his lips in a hot kiss, her tongue sliding right into his mouth. She didn’t pull away until they were both breathless and panting.
Without a word, she turned on her heels and made her way to her car, unlocking it and climbing inside. Starting the engine, she pulled to the entrance of the lot and waited there for Sasuke.
The dark haired man stood there for a moment after Naruko had pulled away. What a kiss that was, and it definitely fixed the tense atmosphere. He quickly got int his car and followed the blond’s orange car, heading out of the parking lot and down the almost deserted street. TBC
