Sasuke had been very busy in that week with work. They had an increase in orders suddenly and the raven barely had time for anything else, including talking with Naruto. He had yet to use the blonde’s phone number, not wanting to take advantage of the fact that Naruto had given it to him.
He was just finishing up some software installation on a very nice laptop he had to get shipped out by the end of the week. He wasn’t going to do anymore after that, it was already late and he needed sleep. But he had something else to do before that.
Pulling out his cell, he looked up Naruto’s number, having added it right when he had gotten in his car that night at the restaurant. Opening up a new text, he began to type.
When is your next day off? I’d like to see you.
Naruto had spent the week working and checking his messages to see if he received one from ‘Blackbird’, or Sasuke. But no, he received nothing. He tried to act nonchalant about it, but it was really hard. Especially since they’d accidentally met. He thought Sasuke would want to meet up.
When he finally received a text, he grinned like an idiot and replied straight away.
I’m off tomorrow. Did you want to meet up?
Sasuke waited a bit before replying. He could just imagine Naruto impatiently waiting for his reply...
I was considering it... Any place in particular? I want you to be comfortable... since I know all of this is a bit nerve wracking for you.
Naruto was practically squirming in his seat as he waited for Sasuke to message him back. He knew, just knew that the raven was messing with him. But damn it! He wanted to meet up with him and get everything started.
“Finally,” he muttered to himself, grabbing his phone from where he’d set it down beside him.
Uh... How about we start with lunch. How do you feel about ramen?
Not my first choice for a meal, but that’s fine... 1:00?
The raven flipped through his calendar, making sure he didn’t have anything scheduled for that time. Luckily their work had slowed down after that week of nonstop shipments and orders.
Naruto ‘wooped’ and threw his first up in the air, grinning like an idiot. He had a date. A date!
Yeah, sounds good. Ichiraku’s on Main Street. You know it?
I’m sure I can figure it out. I look forward to seeing you again, Naruto
Sasuke let a smile grace his face as he thought of the blond. He really couldn’t wait to see him again. Just thinking of being able to touch that soft skin again...
Yeah… I’m looking forward to seeing you, too.
Naruto’s grin grew as he stood, feeling way too keyed up to sit still. But then he came to a sudden realization. He’d have to tell Kiba…
“Oh, god…” the blond groaned, clutching at his hair. “That’s going to be hell… There’s no way I can tell him!”
Sinking onto the couch, Naruto buried his face in his hands. He was not looking forward to that conversation. Actually, he was planning on putting it off as long as possible.
XX
The next day at 1:00 found Sasuke approaching the small ramen stand and had to wonder why anyone would want to eat there. It looked clean and sanitary enough but... He shook his head as he approached and spotted the person he was looking forward to seeing. That blond hair and those bushy tails were just too cute.
“You’re early... I like that.” he said just as he stood behind the blond, his fingertips trailing up the tan arm.
Naruto jolted slightly as a voice suddenly spoke behind him and tilted his head back. The tips of his long ears brushed against Sasuke’s chest and he grinned, showing off his fangs. His tails twitched, almost like a dog’s wagging with happiness.
“Well, you were teasing me so much that I just couldn’t help it,” he snickered. He shivered as he felt the light touch of Sasuke’s fingers on his arm and goose bumps spread over his skin.
The raven merely smirked slightly. “So... what’s so amazing about this place? I can tell you like ramen by the way you picked it as your first choice of food.” His hand dropped from Naruto’s arm as he took the stool next to the blond, his eyes looking upon that gorgeous face and appreciating the slim body.
“I’m not even going to tell you. You’ll see for yourself,” Naruto snickered, turning a bit on the stool so he faced Sasuke. He grabbed one of the menus and slid it towards the raven. “Yo, old man! Can I get-”
“I know, I know… you get the same thing every time you come, Naruto,” the owner smiled. “Miso with extra pork. And for your friend?”
Naruto’s gaze rose to meet Sasuke’s and he fought the flush threatening to spread over his cheeks. “What’re you gonna have?”
Looking over the menu, Sasuke just knew he wasn’t going to like ramen just from the mess it could cause alone...
“I’ll have the same as you... minus the extra pork.” He closed the menu and set it down on the counter before giving his full attention back to the blond. He wasn’t very interested in the food anyway, it was the conversation that was to go with the meal that he wanted most.
Naruto grinned and reached over to lay his hand on Sasuke’s arm. “You’ll love it, I promise. It’s like… one of the best things on earth.”
He reached for his glass of soda and sipped at it. Then he frowned and shook his head. “Scratch that, it is the best thing on earth.”
“If everything works out between us, I’m sure you’ll change your mind about that.” Sasuke kept Naruto’s hand where it was by taking it in his own, his thumb stroking the back of it. “So... I figure we should start talking... I’m curious to know what you want out of this.”
Naruto lost the battle with his flush and the pretty pink tinge spread over his cheeks, but he didn’t try to pull his hand away. “I’ve thought about it a lot since we started talking. As you know, I… I had issues before, but… I really do miss it and I think if I get to know you better, I’d feel comfortable getting back into it…”
Sasuke nodded and only let go of the blonde’s hand when their food arrived. “What I mean is... are you looking for a relationship, or just a temporary thing?” Sasuke had to admit, the ramen did smell very good... perhaps he underestimated it after all.
“Oh, right…” Naruto murmured, missing the warmth of Sasuke’s hand immediately. He pulled his bowl of ramen closer and broke his chopsticks, maneuvering them skillfully to pick up some noodles. Slurping them into his mouth, he practically moaned as he swallowed.
“I’m not really one for relationships. I mean, in the last two years, I haven’t been in a relationship that lasted longer than a week, but that’s because they were all boring. I think… With the… the added dimension of D/s, that we could…” He sighed and shook his head, as though trying to clear it. “I think it could work out. I mean, we seem to have a connection and I’ve already been talking to you and interested in you longer than anyone else, so…”
Sasuke tried his best to stay as dignified as possible while eating but it just couldn’t be done. He knew it... overly messy, but it was very delicious. “I agree... we seem to be enjoying each other’s company well enough. But we’ll have to see how well our next few dates go before we can decide anything, or I should say, before you decide anything. You already know what I want in this.”
“Yeah, I know,” Naruto smiled, one of his ears twitching. “I really do want it too. I figure, once I’m comfortable enough to tell you what happened to me… Then I’ll be ready to start playing. I mean, you’ve pretty much already figured it out, but…”
“Like I’ve said, I don’t want you to feel pressured. I want you to feel comfortable with me.” Sasuke continued to eat, his progress slower than the blonde’s. He was kind of amazed at how many bowls the man could put away, he had counted three already.
Naruto noticed Sasuke looking at him and smiled sheepishly as he pushed two empty bowls away from him so they could be picked up. “I thought about forcing myself to behave and sticking with one bowl, but… I figured you should get to see the real me. And the real me is a ramen whore.”
The raven couldn’t help but smile. Naruto seemed to do that to him more often than not. “It’s perfectly fine. You must have a very fast metabolism...” As much as he enjoyed sitting with Naruto and talking, he would rather sit with Naruto and talk... alone. Although he had a feeling that the blonde wasn’t quite ready to be alone with him; there was no harm in asking though. “Would you like to go somewhere else after this? Maybe, somewhere a bit more secluded?”
“No, that’d be fine. I don’t mind,” Naruto answered with a small smile. If he hadn’t taken lessons after his ex, he probably wouldn’t have been comfortable. But he was confident that he could protect himself. He’d taken both Kendo and Jiujutsu; he wasn’t vulnerable anymore.
“Did you have anywhere in mind?” he asked as he slurped up some more noodles. One of his tails snuck between them and brushed softly against Sasuke’s arm.
The raven stiffened slightly at the touch but then relaxed. He had to admit, the touch was comforting coming from the blond. It was a bold gesture on Naruto’s part and Sasuke commended him for that. “There’s a park not too far from here... I go running there every morning.”
“Alright. We can head over there once we’ve finished eating. I’m almost done,” the blond promised. He finished off the rest of the noodles in the bowl and then picked it up to drink down the broth. Wiping his mouth on a napkin, he slurped down the rest of his soda and then leaned back and rubbed at his flat stomach.
“Ahh, that was good. I’m stuffed,” Naruto declared, reaching into the back pocket of his jeans to grab his wallet.
Sasuke grabbed the tan arm before it could move any further and produced his own wallet. “You don’t have to pay...” was all he said before handing the shop owner the correct amount for both of their meals before standing.
“Sasuke, you didn’t have to do that,” Naruto frowned. “I was going to pay for myself… It’s not exactly fair for you to foot the entire bill since I ate three times as much as you. Let me at least pay you for my half.”
Taking Naruto’s hand in his, Sasuke said nothing about it and pulled the blond with him as he began to walk toward the park. “I said don’t worry about it.”
Naruto opened his mouth to argue but stopped himself. “Fine, but next time we go out, I’m paying.”
With that said, he seemed to completely forget about it. He chattered animatedly with Sasuke the entire walk to the park, about nothing and everything at all. He felt comfortable talking to him, which wasn’t exactly amazing. He liked talking. But conversation seemed to flow between them, even if he carried most of it.
“So, you run a lot then…” he said as they entered the park. “I work out a lot, but I’ve been thinking about running. Hell if I could get my best friend out with me, though. The only ‘person’ he runs with is his dog.”
“If you’re willing to get up at 4am you’re more than welcome to run with me.” Sasuke smirked as they continued to walk, their hands still clasped together. “Unless you like evenings... I don’t mind changing up my routine. I’ve been meaning to switch anyway, I usually do halfway through the year.”
“4am?” Naruto’s nose wrinkled in distaste. “Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’m lucky if I’m out of bed before noon.” He snickered and readjusted his grip, lacing their fingers together. He was surprised by how good it felt to just hold Sasuke’s hand. He wasn’t usually one for PDA’s, but with Sasuke… it just felt different. “Evenings are good, except my shift starts at five. On my days off, though, it’d work.”
“Whenever you can I’d love to have company.” Sasuke led the way to a stone bench that was set a bit away from the path and he gently pulled Naruto to sit beside him, his hand staying right where it was entwined with the blonde’s. “I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about coming here with me. I’m glad you decided to. I really like the connection we seem to have.”
“I’m not too worried,” Naruto smirked. “I may not look strong, but I’m pretty sure I could kick your ass if I had to.”
He shifted a little to try and get comfortable, but it was hard with the mass of tails behind him. They really made his life difficult sometimes – especially in small spaces. He was forced to shift closer to Sasuke and his tails had to lie on the raven a bit in order for him to fit on the bench.
“Sorry… they’re a pain sometimes.” He flushed lightly and pulled one of the bushy appendages into his lap, toying with it. “I do, too. It’s kind of weird, isn’t it? I mean, we’ve talked online for a couple weeks but right from the moment I saw you… I didn’t even know it was you and I still felt it.”
Sasuke’s hand reached out and gently stroked the soft fur of Naruto’s tail. “I like them, you obviously take very good care of the fur.” He let his hand linger for a moment longer before letting it lay back at his side once more. “And I know what you mean. It’s been a while since I felt anything like this.”
Sasuke knew it was going to be hard to wait until Naruto was ready... but he also knew that he would wait for as long as the blond needed. He was not going to mess this up.
“Yeah, well… they’re a lot of maintenance. I have to keep them looking go-” Naruto’s eyes widened for a moment when he felt Sasuke’s hand in his fur, but he soon relaxed. “-od.”
A small purr worked up from deep within his chest and he smiled softly, only to miss the touch once the raven’s hand had disappeared.
“I thought there’d be a huge difference. I thought if we ever met, it’d be totally awkward, but it’s really not. It feels… better like this.” He smiled again and nudged Sasuke in the shoulder. “Unless you feel awkward around me, but you seem to be okay.”
Sasuke couldn’t help but continue to look at the blond; he was just so... attractive. “I don’t feel awkward whatsoever. I was the one that approached you, remember?”
“Oh, right…” Naruto breathed, a light flush spreading across his cheeks. “You seem pretty confident and all. I guess you have to be to be a Dom. I tried once after my ex, just to… I don’t know, experiment I guess.”
Shaking his head bemusedly, the blond chuckled. “That was the worst night of my life.”
“If you feel more comfortable in the submissive role, it’s hard to get into the mindset of a Dom, especially if that’s not what you really want.” Sasuke could understand where Naruto was coming from though. Coming out of a bad relationship often made many men and women do things that they normally wouldn’t do. “How did you get into the scene anyway? I don’t think I’ve asked you yet.”
“Yeah, you’re right about that. I just kind of froze up, waiting for the other guy to take control, even though he was the world’s biggest sub. I am not meant to be a Dom at all.” Naruto laughed again and leaned back a bit, stretching his legs out in front of him.
“It’s kind of stupid, actually. On my 18th birthday, my best friend said he had a surprise for me and took me out. We went bar hopping, only going to the bars that didn’t ask for ID, and then we ended up lost - how, I don’t know, since we’ve lived here our entire lives - but we ended up completely lost without our phones and we randomly came across this D/s club. We went inside to see if we could call someone and while Kiba tried to get ahold of someone, I went further inside, and… I don’t even know how to explain it. I was just hooked. I knew immediately that I belonged in that lifestyle.”
“It’s a very rewarding experience, if you’re with the right partner.” Sasuke leaned against the back of the bench, getting a bit more comfortable. “I figured it out about the same way... But my brother was the one with me at the time and he purposefully took me to a D/s club. Although I’d been curious about the lifestyle and Itachi happened to have a friend in the scene and happened to be a member of the club. I’d never really been interested in vanilla relationships, they always seemed to bore me.”
“They are boring, huh?” Naruto grinned. “That’s why my relationships don’t last. I just… I can’t get into them. And sex? Hah! All that slow, lovey stuff is not my thing at all. All I can think about when I’m with someone now is being dominated. And a lot of guys just can’t handle that.”
He shrugged and reached up to scratch at one of his ears. “With your brother, though? That wasn’t awkward at all? I couldn’t imagine going to a club like that with my brother… Not that I have one, but still… It wasn’t weird?”
“Not any weirder than ordering strippers for your sibling’s bachelor party... Plus, he needed to be there to get me in since it was his friend with the membership.” Sasuke smiled a bit at the memory. If anything, it was Itachi who felt a bit awkward.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” the blond admitted. “I guess there is no normal way to get into it. It’s kind of an unconventional thing.”
He was quiet for a minute or so and found that he even enjoyed the silence. It wasn’t uncomfortable at all. “So, how’d you know you wanted to be a Dom? Was it just your personality? It’s kind of easy to tell that you like to be in control just by looking at you.”
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at that but didn’t comment on the observation. “I like knowing that I’m responsible for someone else’s pleasure... to know that I’m the reason why someone is happy. I guess some would see that as selfish but I do whatever is necessary to take care of my subs.”
“I don’t think that’s selfish,” Naruto smiled. “It’s the opposite, really. That’s how it’s supposed to be. A Dom’s first priority should be their sub. It’s their job to be in control and keep both of them happy. They aren’t supposed to be happy if their sub isn’t. It’s the Dom’s job to keep things balanced and keep the sub feeling safe, because without that, the relationship can’t last, and if someone doesn’t get that, then they have no business trying to be a Dom.” Realizing he was rambling, he smiled sheepishly at Sasuke. “Sorry. I just have strong beliefs about how it’s supposed to be. I’ve had a long time to think on it.”
Sasuke could tell Naruto was speaking from experience and had to wonder not for the first time what he had been through. “You seem to be very knowledgeable of the lifestyle. That’s good... I have to admit I don’t particularly care for submissives that are new to the scene.”
“Everyone has to start somewhere… but no, I’m definitely not new to it. I know what I’m doing,” Naruto snickered. “Well… I might be a little rusty, actually. It’s been a few years, so… I’m sure I can fall back into it. You just might have to be patient with me in the beginning.”
“Don’t worry about that, I consider myself very patient.” Sasuke smiled and let his hand rest on Naruto’s thigh. It was getting so hard to wait, but he knew he would no matter what. He wouldn’t take advantage of Naruto... knowing what the man had possibly been through.
“Well good, ‘cus it’s been a long time,” Naruto murmured, his head tilting down a bit to look at Sasuke’s hand. The little touches were making his stomach flutter like a high school girl.
“So, um… I wanted to ask you if… well, how does it work with you? Do you keep play locked in the bedroom or is it an all the time thing with you? Do you shut off your… Dom-ness,” he shrugged, not being able to come up with any other word for it, “when a scene’s over or do you like to integrate roles into everyday life?”
“That’s up to you...” Sasuke sighed and took his hand off the blonde’s thigh. “Personally, I prefer a 24/7 relationship but I’m not opposed to starting out with just doing scenes if that’s what makes you more comfortable.”
“No, no… that’s why I was asking,” Naruto smiled and reached for Sasuke’s hand, lacing their fingers together and resting them on his lap. “I like it 24/7, too. I’ve tried just doing scenes and it’s not enough for me. It grounds me, you know? I’m kind of… loose all the time but having someone there that’s in control, it… it balances me out.”
Sasuke nodded. It was good to know that Naruto wanted the same things he did, it meant a better chance of them working out. His hand tightened a bit around Naruto’s, loving the feel of the warm hand against his. “I know this is hard for you to get back into and I’m willing to give you all the time and space you need. But I have to tell you, I will eventually ask.”
Naruto shook his head. “I don’t think it’s going to be as hard as I thought it’d be. Like I said, I’ve never felt a connection like this. I thought when we met, it’d be all awkward between us and we’d have to work at it to feel comfortable together, but… we already are.”
Biting his bottom lip, he shifted and turned to face Sasuke. “So, what if we just… started? I honestly think it’ll be harder if I get to know you like this and then we just randomly switch… I don’t mean anything sexual right away, but you know as well as I do that D/s isn’t all about sex.”
Sasuke nodded, agreeing instantly. It was true, D/s was more about the balance between the sub and Dom and each providing what the other desires, creating a pleasant relationship between the two, sex was just an added bonus, just like in any other relationship. “Sounds good to me. If you’d like you can come over tomorrow so we can talk a bit more about what I expect and what you want...”
“Tomorrow? So should I assume you have to take off soon or something?” Naruto asked, feeling strangely disappointed.
“No... I just figured you’d want some time to think about it. In case you wanted to back out.” Sasuke smirked a bit. “But if you’d rather talk about it today, that’s perfectly fine as well.”
“Do I look like the kind of guy that’s not up to taking a risk?” Naruto grinned. “I was burned before, but I’ve got a good feeling about this. So, we should talk about this now. I’m very interested in hearing about what you expect from your sub.”
Sasuke’s grin grew in size as he stood and held out his hand. “Alright then... shall we go?”
“We shall,” Naruto grinned back, jumping up from the bench. “But only if you’re going to run with me…” His eyes gleamed with mischief as he suddenly took off, back in the direction they’d come from. The wind rushed through his many tails and his ears pressed flat against his head as he ran, glancing behind him to make sure Sasuke was following.
Sasuke shook his head in amusement and walked leisurely behind the blond, his eyes trailing him to make sure he knew where the other went. He was not about to run in what he was wearing, he’d look ridiculous.
When he finally caught up with the panting blond, he smirked and took the tan hand in his once more.
“You’re too amusing.” he said before he directed them back toward the ramen shop and his car.
“And you’re no fun,” Naruto sighed. “You wanted to run with me and then you totally blow me off.” He shook his head, but a teasing smile played on his lips.
Reaching into his pocket, he grabbed his pack of smokes. He thought he better light up then, since he didn’t know how Sasuke felt about smoking.
Flicking his lighter, he took a deep drag and sent an apologetic smile Sasuke’s way. “Sorry if you’re not into it, but I didn’t want to stink up your car.”
Sasuke shrugged and continued to walk beside the man. “It doesn’t bother me. Although I will constantly remind you that it’s bad for you and that I’d like it if you did quit. Although I do know how hard it is. I quit about five years ago.”
“Well, that’s your job, isn’t it?” Naruto grinned, but it soon softened. “I’ve tried to quit a couple times, but I’ve never been able to stick with it. I might have to give it another go.”
“It is my job... but like I said, I know how hard it is. I’m not going to tell you to quit and expect you to do it just like that. I know it takes time.” Sasuke unlocked his car and headed over to it. “Did you drive or walk?”
“I walked. I do have a car but I walk whenever I can,” Naruto answered with a little shrug. “I don’t live too far from here. My apartments kind of in the middle of everything.”
Once the car had been unlocked, he opened the passenger door and slid inside, struggling to fit all of his tails in with him. He tucked them around his body and reached for his seatbelt, buckling himself in.
Sasuke got in as well and made sure Naruto was in and secure before starting the car and driving off toward his apartment building. It was silent in the car as they drove. Sasuke was busy thinking of how he was going to explain everything to the blond. He knew it wouldn’t be hard, Naruto had seemed to know what to be getting into so nothing should be a surprise.
Parking in the underground garage, Sasuke opened his door and got out, waiting for the blond to do the same.
Sliding out of the car, Naruto jogged around it to catch up with Sasuke and followed him into the building. ~TBC
