Chapter 1: Erased Recap:

Naruto has lost his memory due to a fall off of a cliff during a mission. Tsunade has ordered that no one try to get Naruto to remember too much and that Sasuke was a forbidden topic. She sent various ninjas on missions to assure that Naruto's past does not cause him pain in his current state. Now, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato must watch over the new Naruto.

Chapter 2: Differences

"Hi. I'm Naruto Uzumaki. It's nice to meet ya!" He smiled.

"H-hi," Sakura said. "I'm Sakura Haruno. And this is Sai." She pointed to Sai who gave Naruto a smile.

"So, I have lost the memories of my past," Naruto started. "I heard that I was a member of team Kakashi. I'm guessing you are my fellow members?"

"Yes they are," Tsunade said. "They will be taking care of you for awhile."

Naruto sighed. "There is no need to baby me. I have already memorized the details of all of the jutsu that you know I can do. I'm ready to go on any mission."

"No you are not," Tsunade put her hand on Naruto's shoulder. "Just wait a few days and I'll gave you one."

"Ok," Naruto sighed. "I'd like to explore a bit. And get changed into something better than this gown."

"You told me that you wanted to buy some new clothes since your old ones were damaged during your training," Sakura lied. She was buying Shino, Kiba, and Hinata time to clear out Naruto's house. "We might as well go now."

 

"Ok." Shizune handed Naruto's belongings to him.

"Your clothes were ruined when you fell," Shizune said. "I can give you some clothes we have in the lost and found.

"No thanks. I'll go in this." Naruto grabbed his wallet and headband. "I'll buy something then change right into it." With that, Naruto, Sakura, and Sai left to go shopping.

They went to several stores. In the first one, Naruto changed into a pair of black paints with chain's handing from its hoops and a red shirt with a black skull on it. He bought several other gothic pants and various red and dark blue shirts. Sakura watched in surprise as Naruto completely ignored anything orange.

"Um... Naruto, what about this?" Sakura was holding an orange shirt with a bowl of ramen on it.

"I'd rather have a darker color," Naruto said.

"How about this?" Sai held up a pair of black jeans that had various holes in them. "It is some gothic thing."

"Those are cool." Naruto smiled as Sai handed them to Naruto. "This is all I think I need." He heard his stomach growl. "Guess I'm hungry."

"I know where to go," Sakura laughed. She grabbed Naruto's hand and pulled him to Ichiraku's. They all ordered Miso Ramen. Naruto only ate one bowl, which worried Sakura. "Are you ok Naruto?"

"Yeah. Why?" Naruto asked.

"You only had one bowl," Sai answered noticing the same thing.

"Well, it's just that I don't really like it," Naruto admitted. Sakura's jaw dropped in shock. Naruto not liking ramen? Unheard of!

"I... I think I should take you home," Sakura paid for everyone's ramen and pulled Naruto home. She thought that Shino, Hinata, and Kiba would be done by now. She was right. They entered Naruto's house. Sakura notice that the picture of team 7 was gone. Of course! It had Sasuke in it. Sasuke's headband was also gone. (Kiba took it and gave it to Tsunade to hold onto)

"I'm gonna go to sleep now," Naruto said. "I think I'm tired from all that has happened."

"Right," Sakura said. "Sai, you should stay here with Naruto. I have to speak to Lady Tsunade." Sai nodded. "I'll see you boys tomorrow."

"Bye Sakura," Naruto said as he began to change into his sleeping clothes.

"Bye." She left smiling but as soon as she was out of Naruto's house, she frowned. Then she ran to Tsunade's. "Lady Tsunade?" She knocked on the door.

"Come in Sakura," Lady Tsunade said. Sakura enter the room. Tsunade was doing some paperwork. She looked up. "It's about Naruto isn't it."

"He's different," Sakura began. "He doesn't like orange clothing or ramen."

"That is odd," Tsunade said. "But remember, Naruto is different since his memories make him who he was. What he is now is a ninja without them. He will be different, but he will always be Naruto."

"Will he remember any of the things that happen during this time?" Sakura asked.

"He should remember almost everything," Tsunade said. "It may take awhile, but Naruto will be his normal self again."

"Ok." Sakura bowed then went home to sleep.

Once Naruto was finished changing he fell asleep. Sai sat on the floor staring at him. He noticed that Naruto had changed a bit, but he didn't really care. To him, Naruto was his first friend. He only wanted Naruto to be happy.

A few days later, Tsunade called team Kakashi to her office. Since Kakashi was not back yet, Yamato was to be their team leader. She gave them a mission to give the scroll they had retrieved back to its rightful owner.

"Be careful," Tsunade yelled as they left.

"Will Naruto be alright?" Shizune asked.

"He'll be fine." Tsunade smiled. "Naruto's strong."

Within an hour after they left Kohana, they were attacked by ninjas from the Land of Soil. As they were fighting, Naruto stayed calm. He did not charge ahead. Instead, he stayed silent, but moved quickly. He planned ahead his attacks and defeated his opponents. Sakura and Yamato watched as the suddenly mature Naruto stood unharmed.

"He is really different," Yamato stated. "He's not the knuckle-headed ninja we know." (he heard Kakashi called Naruto that)

"No, he's not," Sakura said before Naruto returned to her side.

"Shall we continue?" Naruto asked. "Captain Yamato?"

"Yes," Yamato said. They continued on their mission.
