The Epilogue
The Epilogue
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for following this story. Here is the final installment. I hope you like it!
“Mommy! Watch me mommy! Watch what I can do!” the little onyx haired 5 year old yelled to his mother. He was a beautiful child who was mature for his age.
“Okay, I’m watching.” Sakura yelled to her son as he followed his father to a target range. Sasuke handed his son seven kunai. He had various targets set for him to hit. Uchiha Ichiro hit every one of them with ease. Sasuke was quite proud of his son, he was showing potential as a ninja and he would be entering the academy for his education beginning in the fall. After hitting the targets the little boy ran over to his mother’s arms with his father at his side.
“Mommy, did you see that? Did you see me hit the targets. Daddy set the targets did you see me hit them?” the child asked with shining black eyes. Sakura smiled and held on to her little boy.
“Yes, Ichiro, I saw you hit them. You did a good job. I’m very proud of you.” She kissed him. Sasuke put his arm around Sakura and sat beside her.
“Ichiro, go practice your katon jutsu.” Sasuke said to him. The little boy smiled and clambered out of his mother’s lap to practice. He was producing a magnificent katon that any Uchiha could be proud of.
“Do you think he has it?” Sakura asked as they watched their son breathe flames into the air. Sasuke held Sakura close to him.
“I don’t know. He hasn’t acted like he wants to activate anything. It could be years before he activates it...if he has it.” Sasuke said. Sasuke and Sakura were of course referring to the sharingan that they both so desperately wanted the child to have. To look at little Ichiro, he looked more like Sasuke than Sakura. He had Sakura’s nose and Sakura’s mouth, but he got Sasuke’s fairer skin, dark hair and build. It was also apparent that he was a talented child who learned things quickly and he had focused attention, which was all good news. However, his blood had been sampled when he was 3. It was true…Uchiha Ichiro had a hybrid blood and he was at risk for activating effects of the cursed seal within him, without having the cursed seal. The fear was that if the child were provoked or threatened he may activate it and the power could injure or kill him at such an early age. For the time being, there was no sealing technique to use on the child.
Nonetheless, this was a very happy little boy. He had the two things that were taken away from Sasuke: a mother and father and he had parents who loved him more than he could ever imagine. He was already beginning to make friends and understand how important his little friends were.
“Mommy, I need a drink.” The little boy said running back to his mother with warm cheeks.
“Okay, daddy will take you to get some water.” Sakura told her son. Sasuke took Ichiro’s hand and led him away from Sakura to get him some water. Sasuke was taking him to a freshwater stream where the water was clean enough to drink. He touched his son’s warm cheeks. He wondered if he had blistered himself in producing the flames.
“Ichiro, open your mouth.” Sasuke said kneeling down to examine the boy’s tiny mouth. He wasn’t blistered; his cheeks were just blushed and hot. Ichiro was still trying to learn how to control the katon jutsu.
“Daddy, I have a question.” Ichiro said as he once again held his father’s hand and followed him toward the stream. Like every 5 year old…of course he had a question.
“What’s your question, Ichiro?” he asked.
“Why is the sky blue?” it was typical of a child. Sasuke managed to give his son an answer that would suite him. “Okay, but how did it get blue?” Ichiro insisted. Sasuke once again tried to explain this to Ichiro. But then the next question Sasuke didn’t quite expect. “Daddy, why don’t you have a mommy? Mommy has a mommy.” Sasuke looked at him, running his fingers over his son’s head. He was too young to hear this, so he sheltered his son.
“Well, Ichiro. My mommy’s gone.”
“Where did she go?” Ichiro asked.
“She’s gone away for a long time. Maybe someday you and I can sit down and talk about where she went.”
“Okay, daddy.” Ichiro was satisfied with this answer, thankfully. Sasuke really didn’t want to get into anything more at this point with his son.
They arrived at the stream and Ichiro got on his knees on the shore to get a drink. He cupped his hands into the water and drank it up. However, as he wiped the water from his now cool cheeks; he was startled. A squirrel came running out of the forest being chased by a dog. Ichiro gasped and quickly looked behind him in the direction of the commotion.
Sasuke’s face fell in awe of his son. The commotion had scared Ichiro…scared him so much so that Sasuke could see firey red eyes adorn the face of his child…he had activated the sharingan. He couldn’t wait to tell Sakura. Their child would becom the next Uchiha prodigy.
