20: Itachi´s decision

It wasn´t very difficult for the three vampires to sneak inside of the city of Ame-gakure though they had to stay out of the rain to avoid being detected by Pein´s chakra detection jutsu.

They quickly learned that at least one member of the Akatsuki always stayed in Ame-gakure while the other members were on the move.

“Madara isn´t here, is he?” Naruto whispered to Itachi.

“It doesn´t appear that way no… Pein is missing too. The other members are here though.”

“Then we should kill them right away. We should be able to harvest their memories from their blood,” Sasuke told them and smirked. He was eager to finish this because he was getting tired of this game of hide and seek.

When team Kakashi arrived at Ame-gakure the city was silent as the grave and it made all them feel very uneasy. “Can you detect anyone?” Kakashi asked the Neji.

“No. I can find no signs of chakra anywhere… Didn´t Jiraiya-sama say that there should be at least twenty Ame-nin and at least one Akatsuki member here all the time? And isn´t he supposed to be around here somewhere?”

“Yeah… let´s split up and search for him. Shikamaru you go with Neji while Iruka pairs up with me. Stay in the shadows and use the intercom if you find anything… anything at all,” the copy-nin told him before they split up.

Less than four minutes later Neji found the first body. He called Kakashi and asked him and Iruka to meet them at their location a.s.a.p.

“… Oh god, look at him,” Iruka gasped when he saw the remains of what used to be a man. “His bones… they-”

“Crushed to powder,” Shikamaru stated after he poked at the boneless heap. “Just try to image the force you would have to use to crush every bone like this.”

“Here´s another one,” Neji called out. “This one was bled dry and he has no other injuries but two puncture marks on his neck.”

“So they were here,” Kakashi sighed. “Let´s look for the next body then… and I fear that we got here too late, Sasuke and Naruto may already have moved on.”

They found the more or less mutilated bodies of nearly thirty nin wearing the Ame hitai-ate. They had been killed by being sucked dry, been ripped apart or crushed to death; all of their faces marred with the expression of fear and pain.

“… Are we sure that Naruto and the Uchihas did this?” Iruka whimpered because he just couldn´t believe that Naruto would be able to do something like this to anyone. He felt his stomach twist and turn when they entered the citadel and found the scattered body parts of the Akatsuki… or most of them anyway since it seemed that Tobi/Madara and Pein was missing.

“I can´t say for sure but… well we better find them soon and ask them ourselves before we draw a conclusion based on guesses,” Kakashi sighed. He was pretty sure that he recognized Itachi´s fighting style on nearly half of the victims. “Are there any signs of Sakura anywhere?”

“No, there is no sign of her ever being here,” Neji sighed and stepped over the remains of a human torso, the bones of the ribcage were sticking out and the poor nin´s facial expression told the Hyuuga that this man had been alive when the bones had been forced through the skin that used to cover his chest.

Kakashi shook his head and feared that Sasuke would have become just as wild and violent as his brother while he was pretty sure that Naruto was the one who had killed those who had been drained, their bodies still intact.

´Naruto isn´t the type of nin who would enjoy to toy and torture his target before killing it… that is more the style of the vengeful Uchihas.`

“That was fun,” Itachi chuckled while he stepped in between Naruto and Sasuke, wrapping his arms around their shoulders while they were about to search for the perfect place to spend the day.

“There is no fun in ripping people apart one limb at a time. It is cruel and I don´t like the screaming… it hurts my ears,” Naruto said with a disappointed growl. He had been against the mindless slaughtering but both Sasuke and Itachi didn´t seem to be disturbed by the brutality they had used to kill the Ame-nin, and it only got worse after they faced the Akatsuki at the citadel.

Naruto shook his head to get rid of the horrid images of Itachi breaking that poor Akatsuki girl´s fingers one at a time before he had torn her limbs off… first one arm… then the other… and it hadn´t stopped there. Itachi had tormented her for fun. He had burned the skin of her legs, leaving her alive as long as possible.

Naruto would have stopped him but he just couldn´t force his body to move. He had just been standing there, watching her screams and pleas; first begging them to let her go… then to kill her quickly.

“They would have done the same to us,” Sasuke reasoned when he noticed that the blonde seemed to feel bad about what had happened. “You saw it in their minds, didn´t you?”

“… Yeah I saw it… but that doesn´t mean that I have to become like them,” the blonde argued when he entered one of the empty houses of the abandoned village they were passing through, slamming the door shut in Sasuke´s face.

Naruto rubbed the back of his neck and let out a frustrated growl before he went through the abandoned house till he found what he was looking for; the basement. It was a nice and dark cellar which would be perfect for a shelter for the day… there was just one problem… he didn´t feel like sharing the same room as the Uchiha siblings right now… he was to disappointed and angry to find rest with them nearby today.

“You are still too soft and kind for your own good Naruto. You need to realize that we are different from the humans now. We are superior to them… you saw how easy the bones crushed when I grabbed that shinobi´s arms, it was like crumbling a cookie.”

“Don´t talk about them like that. We were once like they were… I-I don´t want to change into a cruel, merciless hunter. I liked who I was before… I don´t want to become… ” Naruto said with a serious tone. “Itachi, I spend all my life to show people that I wasn´t the monster they accused me to be because of… of Kyuu… I-I…” Naruto stepped away from the Uchihas and let out a troubled breath. “I need some time to think… I´ll see you after sunset.”

“Naruto?” Sasuke grabbed the blonde´s hand when said nin was about to leave the basement. “Do you want me to-”

“No… I need to be alone for a little while. Stay here with Itachi… I´ll stay in one of the other houses… Don´t worry, I won´t run away or do anything stupid, Teme.” And with that he left the Uchiha siblings alone, less than an hour before sunrise.

Naruto found a warm and well built basement at the other end of the abandoned city. He collected blankets and pillows from the surrounding houses and with those items he built a nest-like bed in which he made himself comfortable.

´Kyuu?, ` he called out in his mind, desperate to talk to the ancient demon and hear her advice. ´Kyuu are you still there? ` He hadn´t heard her voice since they had merged with each other and the vampire virus, and he feared that she may have been consumed by him… and that he would never be able to talk to her again.

He got no response and it caused his eyes to tear up because he felt incredible lonely and lost. “You promised me to stay with me till the very end… and I haven´t reached the end yet. Kyuu… I need you to remind me who I am,” he sobbed. He curled into a ball, hugging a soft pillow while he allowed the tears to fall freely from his eyes.

#Kit? #

“K-Kyuu?” He gasped when he could hear her voice though it was really weak, almost as if she was far away from him.

#Kit! # her voice grew stronger when he concentrated harder to hear her.

´There you are, ` Naruto hick-upped while wiping his eyes with his sleeve when he could finally feel her presence inside his mind. ´Why didn´t you answer me before? `

#I tried but I couldn´t get through to you, # the demon told him. #It was almost as if you blocked me out… must be some kind of side effect of the vampire virus. #

´Do you think? ` He asked softly and smiled when he could finally see the fox inside of his mind.

#It´s just a theory, # Kyuu chuckled and she was just as relieved to hear his voice as he was to hear hers.

´Why are you so small? ` The blonde asked while he walked towards the cute looking fox that she had become. She wasn´t much bigger than a normal house cat, and she had only one tail left which was wrapped around her paws.

He picked her up and pulled the small animal against his chest, and he just couldn´t resist to kiss her on top of her head.

#We merged remember. You somehow managed to saved a tiny bit of me as an individual being so this is the best I can do to give you an image of me… and put me down, I´m not a pet or a plushy that you can cuddle whenever you feel like it,# she growled without any real annoyance. Actually she liked his caring attitude… it was just when he had still been a five year old kit who needed someone to hold him during the many lonely nights.

´Gomen Kyuu-chan but you are so cute… and I-I missed you so much, ` he grinned at her, happy to have her back.

#... I might have… missed you a little… bit too, # she hesitantly admitted. #Did you and your two bastards have a lot of fun together? # she asked to change the subject before it got to emotional.

´Kyuu… I… Have I changed? ` he asked her and put her back down on the ground.

#Yes you have… why do you ask? # she asked while watching him sit down next to her. The orange-furred fox couldn´t help but to purr when her kit began to scratch her softly behind the ears, right at that very spot which was so hard to reach on her own.

´Have I turned into a cruel predator? Am I… am I a monster? `

#... you might be a predator now but you could never be a monster. You don´t have the cruelty for something like that. Your loving heart and sense of what is right and wrong overpowers the hate and the darkness… it always has… and always will – that is who you are kit. Is this about the fight against the Akatsuki? #

´… Itachi and Sasuke… they ripped those Ame-nin apart as if they were nothing but worthless puppets which deserved to be broken and thrown away like thrash. Kyuu… am I… weak for not wanting to kill people despite what I have become? ` he asked her with a sad whisper.

#Maybe I´m the wrong being to ask that question kit. I am a demon and I have been the cause of many deaths. I didn´t enjoy the killing but I don´t regret it either. You should talk to your bastard about this… he used to resent killing as well, though he is a vengeful brat. #

´… I killed four people that night and I wasn´t able to do anything when Itachi… when he tortured that girl with the paper flowers… I still don´t know why I did it or why I couldn´t prevent it from happening… we can survive without killing our victims… so why Sasuke… why did you seemed so satisfied as you used your claws to rip those poor bastards apart? ` he asked himself more than the cute fox.

#...# the demon looked up at her frustrated kit and hoped that Sasuke would hear Naruto´s thoughts and do something about his suffering.

Sasuke dropped to his knees with wide open eyes when he received Naruto´s thoughts.

´So that is why you´ve been acting strange ever since we left Ame-gakure. You… you still resent killing anyone… even those people who deserve to die for the crimes they have committed, ` he thought sadly while he stared at Itachi who was already asleep because he was well fed and tired after tonight’s hunt.

´You complicated everything aniki… and now our coven will break apart if we can´t settle this. We will face Madara and Pein soon and if we can´t work together we will lose this battle for sure. ` He let out a deep sigh and leaned against the old cracked wall behind him.

´Naruto? ` He called out in his mind because he needed to talk to his Dobe about this, he wouldn´t be able to find rest before they had spoken about the things that pained his Dobe.

´Y-Yes? ` The blonde answered telepathically. ´What do you want Teme? `

´I´m sorry if I scared you back at Ame-gakure… I let myself get carried away by the luring scent of their blood. I love you Naruto, and I will try not to kill anyone unless I have too from now on. `

´You promise? ` Naruto asked softly.

´Yes. ` Sasuke answered without hesitation.

´Teme… Do you think that I´m I a monster? I killed someone that night as well. `

Sasuke could hear that Naruto was close to tears and decided that he needed to see his Dobe even if the sun had already arisen on the sky outside these protective walls. Thankfully there were other ways to cross the city than to walk the streets outside after all.

The Uchiha looked at his sharp nails and smirked. ´Dobe, stay where you are… I´ll be with you in very soon. `

Naruto didn´t quite know what the Uchiha meant but was looking forward to snuggle into his Teme´s embrace and waited impatiently for any signs of his lover.

He didn´t have to wait long before the ground beneath his feet began to tremble and a pale hand broke through the floor. Naruto let out a yelp, stumbled back in surprise and landed hard on his rear.

“Did I scare you bibiri-kun?” Sasuke chuckled before he crawled out of the hole and dusted himself off. “Did you think that I was a ghost or something?”

“Don´t laugh at me Teme!” Naruto pouted while rising to his feet. “I just couldn´t help it… I guess that there is more left of my human reflexes and fears that I thought… and I never did like creepy stuff like that. Kakashi and especially Yamato always tried to scare the crap out of me with spooky stories and scary faces when we were on a mission.”

“Really?” Sasuke laughed. He stepped closer to the blonde and hugged him tightly against his chest while drawing soothing circles on his back with his hands to help Naruto to calm down. “I´m sorry. I didn´t mean to scare you but it was the best and fastest way to dig my way beneath the ground to get to you.”

“…Alright Teme I forgive you,” Naruto chuckled because he just couldn´t stay annoyed with his lover when they were this close. “Thank you for coming over… I really needed a hug from you.”

“Mmmm I would love to give you more than a hug koi,” the Uchiha whispered huskily before he pressed his hips against his blonde companion´s.

“Oh yeah? Like what?” the blonde purred and ran his hands along Sasuke´s arms before they found their way to the Uchiha´s firm ass.

“I need you… just you and I need you now.”

“Fuck yes,” Naruto mewled. He dragged the raven towards the nest-like bed he had created and dragged him down on top of him. “You and me… me and you… forever.”

Lips met in a hungry kiss while they undressed each other and lay naked, pressed against each other within seconds.

“Enter me,” Naruto panted when their lips parted, not so much for air since they didn´t really need air to survive anymore but because Sasuke felt the urge to taste Naruto´s intoxicating blood. He buried his fangs deeply into the honey brown neck and licked at the crimson liquid with his tongue, humming with satisfaction.

“Do you need me to prepare you koi?”

“No I need to feel the pain right now. I need it to feel like I´m still me… that I´m still vulnerable and a little bit human,” he told the Uchiha while bucking his hips upwards to feel the delightful friction of the lengths brushing against each other with each thrust.

“As you wish love,” Sasuke muttered huskily. He grabbed the tanned legs by the nape of the knees and placed them over his shoulders which offered him better access to Naruto´s ass. Black eyes connected with clouded blue and they shared a moment of serenity before Sasuke pushed inside the tight heat of his most precious friend and lover.

“Ahhh,” Naruto cried out in a mix of pain and sheer pleasure when he was filled perfectly with Sasuke´s cock.

“Dobe,” the raven moaned. He never failed to be amazed by the feeling he always got when he was buried deeply inside of his lover, no matter how many times he had recorded a moment like this with his Sharingan it never made him experience anything as powerful and mind blowing like the real deal. “Damn, I love being buried deeply inside of you.”

Naruto smiled up at him with so much love and need that Sasuke felt like the happiest man (eh vampire XD) in the entire universe and he knew that this was something that was only meant for the two of them. To share Naruto with Itachi and the feeling and the sounds of all three of them having sex was incredibly hot… but it was nothing compared to this... this was just… perfect.

Sasuke raised a hand and brushed his fingertips along the blonde´s whisker marked cheek while he allowed all of his emotions to fill his eyes with all the feelings he had for this wonderful being beneath him.

“Naruto I love you so much… I want to be with you forever,” he whispered honestly and he had never meant anything as much as these very words. “I won´t let anything or anyone separate us… never.”

“I love you too Sasuke… for all eternity,” the blonde smiled lovingly back at him. Their lips met in a deep passionate kiss while the Uchiha began to make love to Naruto.

Sasuke´s thrusts were very slow and shallow and he was looking down at a happily smiling Naruto who moaned between their kisses and bites, both overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of emotions they both felt during their lovemaking.

They made love throughout the entire day, enjoying the feeling of just the two of them till they fell asleep all tangled up in each other´s embrace, both smiling while they cuddled closer in Naruto´s cozy little nest.

Itachi woke up at sunset and stretched his cold body with a loud yawn while hearing noises when his bones and muscles came to life. His eyes circled the room and he soon realized that he was all alone.

´Where did Sasuke go? ` He wondered after he remembered that the blonde had left before dawn to be alone. ´Did he wake up early and went on a little hunt for our cute fox? ` Itachi then saw a round hole in the floor and guessed that his younger sibling had left through it sometime during the day.

´I wonder if this tunnel will lead me to Naruto… it probably will. ` He crawled through the tight tunnel and ended up at the small house at the other end of town where Naruto had chosen to build his lair for the day.

The Uchiha felt something stir inside of him when he saw his brother´s caringly embracing the drooling blonde, both deeply asleep. They looked to be at peace and seemed very happy together, and it made the older nin feel that he didn´t belong with them.

´There is no room for me here… not really. They are so closely attached to each other that no matter what I do, they will always love each other more than they will ever love me. I guess that I should continue my hunt alone from now on and leave these two lovebirds alone. I can meet up with them after I kill Madara… They deserve to spend some time alone. ` He stepped closer to them and knelt down close to Naruto´s loudly snoring figure. Itachi kissed his brother on the cheek and the whisker marked blonde on the lips, stroking his scarred cheek lovingly with his fingertips.

“I will be back soon… and then we will have to find a partner for me who is just as hot as the two of you since I can´t continue to get between you. Goodbye,” Itachi rose to his feet, took off his necklace and placed it gently around Naruto´s neck before he turned on his heel and disappeared into the darkness of the night.
