Miki's story part 1

IN NEED OF A BETA

“I remember the first time I met my husband, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was when I was eighteen. I had just been accepted into the University of Toyoto. I was a shy person that had self esteem problem. I made it into my preferred course of medicine, but that did little for my introvert personality. It seemed it would be hard to fit in.

I maybe not being great with people, but I loved to write poems, so when I heard there was a meeting of aspiring poets, I just had to go.

Right next to me, that evening by the University’s café was Hiruzen, a handsome man with a smile that reached his eyes. It was that smile that got me hook, line and sinker.

His words was soft spoken – he was a gentle soul and with a laugh that warmed my heart.

There was also a poem I wrote, it was written for him on the day I met him. I had never read it to him…so I thought I use it as my parting words.

In the sweetness of your words

You leave me enthralled

Words I could not imagine

Whispered so gently in my ear

But love seem to be farfetched

As my own barriers would not yield so easily

Love was nothing but a fairytale

As you, my prince charming do appear

True or false

I know not which

Listen to my heart, I dare not

Lest hurt will arrive at my doorstep

Lost so much, gain so little

I fear this world far more then my worst nightmares

I could not bear to have my heart break in two

For the simple word called “love”

But with you, my heart did not break. I was happy for so many years. Thank you, my love, and goodbye”

Miki’s words were strong, but her eyes were telling a different story. There was sad sweetness in them for the memories. At the corner of her eyes, tears swelled up, for the death of her husband.

Shikaku looked down at his hand, as he sat in church. It was the funeral of the man they were seeking two weeks ago. They didn’t get to talk to him as the day they did see him, he was in a coma. He died that night.

When did their lives became an endless funeral? It was like having a door open and inch then slammed hard on their noses. When they thought they found a clue, disaster strikes. This mystery was digging up more questions then answers.

There was no journal this time. Well, not a written one anyway. The walking and talking version was on the alter giving her epitome to her husband.

All of Hiruzen’s pieces to the puzzle lied in his wife’s memories.

He looked around and realized, he was at a great man’s funeral. The room was full, both with people standing and sitting. Tears were shed in all corners.

Yes, he decided that a man’s worth could only be measure after his death. That when you know how many friends you made. Or how many people ready do care for you, when you are not there to judge.

Ah, what a depressing thought.

By seven, the last of the mourners has lit their incense and left in their own cars. Leaving just Minato and Shikaku, who remained behind upon Miki’s request, it seemed she was advised by her husband to retell his part of this chess game.

“Let’s return to my house for tea, shall we?”

The house was a freaking brick mansion by the seaside, complete with its own boat and strip of sand.

Inside, it was grand. Decorated with Italian vases, portraits of Sarutobi’s family hanged off every wall. Even the tea cups could cost over a thousand dollars a set.

Shikaku really didn’t want to drop his tea.

“The first time I saw Naruto, I knew without a doubt, he was Minato’s son. The brilliant sun kissed hair, the beautiful sea-blue eyes was a dead give away. But the difference must be their personalities. Minato had to stay hidden most of the time, because the Yukuza was still after him, as their next leader, so he was serious and quiet. Naruto on the other hand, had no ties to the Yukuza. His mother was a clever woman, and his father still get leaked information from my husband or myself, so they managed to send their son to safety at an orphanage far in the country. I lost my grandson when he was twenty one. The babe was less then two weeks old, that was why Kushina, barely nineteen, was too weak to leave. It would seem Yukuza seems to take joy, seeing me lose my loved one.”

She broke down. It was as simple as that. She was a woman who has seemed to be able to keep a lid on her emotions, had her pot broken. All the grief and pain has just broke the dam, and left nothing but a fragile woman with the tired wrinkles.

“I really didn’t want Naruto to become a policemen, nor for the Yukuza to find interest in him. I guess life was never going to be as I wish it”
