Okay my lovelies here's the battle chapter.

Itachi:Finally.

T.W.:Shut up you psycho bastard.

Sai:That was snippy. What's wrong?

T.W.:I suck at fight and battle scenes.

Sai:In other words you're worried that people will hate this chapter.

Itachi:Neurotic twit.

T.W.:Itachi I swear if you make fun of me about this, I'll make you Guy's uke!

Itachi:(pales)You wouldn't.

T.W.:Want to put that to the test?

Itachi:Okay I won't pick at your insecurities.

T.W.:Good. Now I give all of you readers fair warning. I really really REALLY SUCK at fight scenes so please don't be too harsh.

WARNING:This chapter contains badly written violence so if you don't like it don't flame it cause you've been warned, suggestions of how I can improve my fight writing skills is welcomed though.

Chapter 22 The Battle

The otonin had summoned a number of snakes in advance and the Leaf ninja had their hands full trying to keep both the snakes and the otonin out of the village.

Tsunade and Jiraya were fighting a new group of Sound Five, who were protecting Orochimaru and his lapdog spy. Said lapdog was throwing poisoned senbon at the Leaf ninja. Fortunately the poison was a common one that the hospital had plenty of antidote for but it served the purpose of thinning Konoha's ranks.

Sakura, irritated by his use of the senbon, managed to get to Kabuto as the Sound Five were distracted by Tsunade and Jiraya. Kabuto dodged the punch she aimed at his jaw and threw a poisoned kunai at her. She twisted out of the way, grabbed the kunai, and sent it right back at Kabuto. As he dodged, she made a couple of hand signs and leaves swirled around Kabuto. He looked around, "What the?"

He was in an empty battle field. He heard a pained groan, drew a kunai, and spun towards the sound.

Orochimaru was lying on the ground, bleeding out into the dirt and missing an arm.

"Orochimaru-sama!"

Kabuto rushed to his master's side. As he knelt down beside Orochimaru, he heard a dirisive female voice say, "Moron."

The last thing he saw as he turned towards that voice was the disgusted features of Sakura as she cut off his head.

Sakura cleaned off her kunai. 'Thanks Kakashi-sensei. I got the idea for that genjutsu from the one you cast on me during the bell test.' She dodged a shuriken and went to help an injured shinobi.

Gaara, Temari, Kankuro, and TenTen were dealing with a pair of snakes and about a dozen otonin. Kankuro used Karasu to poison three of the ninja while TenTen cut two more in half with her katana. Temari distracted two with the Kamaitachi then, embedded a kunai in each one's forehead. Gaara was using his sand to keep the snakes from attacking anyone. Unfortunately he was unable to kill the scaly pains in the ass with the Sabaku Soso; they were too big and the scales allowed them to slip out of each new hold before he could tighten the sand. 'One of the twelve otonin we've been fighting summoned these so if I can kill him the snakes will disappear.' Gaara analyzed the situation and swiftly killed the remaining five otonin with the Sabaku Soso before the snakes could kill someone. the serpents disappeared as the otonins' blood splattered all over the place. Gaara looked at his siblings and TenTen and gestured towards another group of attacking ninja.

Kurenai used a genjutsu to immobilize several otonin while Kakashi sliced through their ranks with the Chidori. Neji and Hinata finished of any that he missed with their Juken stye taijutsu.

Asuma and his team were guarding the hospital's main entrance, Ino would use the Shinranshi no Jutsu to make any approaching enemies kill each other while Shikamaru used the Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu to strangle the ones that managed to slip by her and Asuma. Choji blocked the entrance with the Cho Baika no Jutsu.

Kiba, Akamaru, Shino, Lee, and Guy were guarding the other hospital entrance. Shino allowed his kikaichu to feast and Kiba and Akamaru used the Jinju Konbi Henge: Sotoro to kill a few of the summoned snakes. Guy and Lee rocketed through the otonin, leaving dozens of dieing and unconscious enemies in their wake.

Anko, Genma, Raido, and Ibiki made their way to Tsunade and Jiraya. Anko smacked one of the Sound Five away, "Hokage-sama, we'll deal with these vermin, you and Jiraya-san go destroy Orochimaru."

Tsunade inclined her head and turned to look for Orochimaru, "Oh shit! He's gone!"

Jiraya scaned the battle field but didn't see him either. He exchanged a look with Tsunade and they raced off to the Academy where Sasuke and Naruto were guarding the villagers.

The majority of snakes and sound ninja had converged on the Academy. Sai had been pinned against a wall by a cocky kunoichi. She sneered, "You're cute but rather weak. You'd make a good pet."

Sai just smiled, rammed a kunai into her temple, spun and drove the kunai up through the jaw and out the top of the skull of another otonin, then he gathered his scroll and ink and created some lions that ripped through any otonin within ten feet.

Yamato was impaling snakes and otonin alike on his sword and as one otonin got through his defenses, he grabbed the ninja, summoned a wall of wooden spikes and slammed the ninja into it so that several of the spikes drove completely through the otonin's torso.

Naruto and Sasuke fought back to back. Sasuke using his chakra sword to slice through several otonin at once, occasionally Naruto would duck so that he could decapitate an otoninthat the blond was fighting. There were several Narutos charging around, killing sound ninja, and occasionally poofing as snakes tried to eat them.

Naruto himself was using the basic Rasengan to tear into any enemy that approached him. Occasionally he'd use one of the modified katons to fry an otoninthat got too close to the barrier that the Owl ANBU had created to protect the villagers.

The ANBU was dispatching otonin left and right when one got under his guard and knocked his mask off. The ANBU drove his sword into the ninja's gut, twisted, and pulled the sword out, disembowling the otonin in one smooth movement. Naruto glanced over as the ANBU turned and gaped at the familar face of his beloved sensei. 'Iruka-sensei is the ANBU who took care of me!' Iruka locked eyes with Naruto conveying the message 'We'll talk later.'

Naruto grinned, nodded, and turned to throw a kunai into the heart of a sound ninja that tried to attack Sasuke.

"Hn, that was unecessary dobe."

Sasuke katoned an otonin who got too close to Naruto.

"Probably but what would your fanclub do if someone scarred that pretty face of yours teme."

Naruto used an Odama Rasengan to get rid of several otonin at once.

"If I'm lucky they'd leave me the hell alone."

Sasuke channeled more chakra into the sword and took out a dozen ninja in one slice.

"That or they'd fight over who gets to tend your wounds teme."

Naruto flipped over Sasuke's head as he swept the spot where the Naruto had been with a katon, and the blond used a wind blade to dispatch another group of ninja.

"Don't even joke about that usuratonkachi."

"Aw don't worry Sasuke-chan. I'll protect you from your fangirls."

Sasuke threw a shuriken into an otonin's eye, narrowly missing Naruto's ear.

"Never call me that again dobe."

Naruto just grinned, decapitated the last of the otonin they were facing, causing the snakes to disappear, and said, "No problem teme."

Iruka strode over to the two jonin, "Well done Naruto, Sasuke."

Sasuke, seeing the Owl ANBU's identity for the first time, almost choked on thin air and Naruto dropped his grin as he took in all the implications of Iruka being the ANBU who had helped him. Surprise, happiness, and a whole host of other emotions surged through him. As Naruto opened his mouth to say something, the ground shook underneath them.

They lept away as a snake burst out of the ground. A sinister voice spoke from a nearby rooftop, "It would appear that the Kyuubi brat has actually become a competent ninja. How surprising."

Sasuke and Naruto spun towards the voice, Orochimaru stood there with Yamato and Sai collapsed at his feet.

"What did you do to Yamato and Sai you son of a bitch!"

Orochimaru kicked the two unconscious shinobi off the roof, "Nothing that can't be fixed by a competent medic-nin, if they get to one soon."

Naruto glared at the snake sannin, knowing it was a trap to get to Sasuke. The Uchiha stepped up beside Naruto, exchanging a look with him. They nodded and charged in tandem. As they reached Sai and Yamato, Orochimaru had the snake coil around them. He jumped down and ran a hand down Sasuke's cheek, "A brave and foolhardy move Sasuke'kun, and it will cost you."

He drove a kunai into Naruto's chest only to blink in surprise as the blond disappeared in a puff of smoke, along with Sasuke.

"Oi looking for us you sickening parasite?"

Orochimaru's head jerked up and he stared at Sasuke and naruto as they laid Sai and Yamato down on the ground.

"Shadow clones and Kawarimi no Jutsu, clever. But not clever enough."

Orochimaru threw a strange kunai at the barrier protecting the villagers. It collapsed and a little girl fled in terror. The girl's mother screamed in panic as the snake went for her daughter. 'Shit!' Naruto drew on his Kyuubi abilities and ran to shield the little girl, barely reaching her before the snake struck. He pushed her out of the way and the snake's fangs went through his body, one through his left lower ribcage, the other through his right thigh.

Sasuke decapitated the snake and pried Naruto out of it's mouth.

"Naruto!"

Naruto craned his neck, "Is the girl okay?"

Sasuke took off his shirt and used it to put pressure on the torso wound, "She's fine, back inher mother's arms."

As Sasuke brushed a few strands of Naruto's hair back, Iruka knelt down beside them and began trying to stop the bleeding and the girl's mother came over.

"Young man thank you so much for saving my little girl."

Naruto smiled at her, "I'm just glad she's alright."

Orochimaru's voice interrupted, "How sweet, the Kyuubi vessel finally gets acknowledged by the people who have hated and tormented him his entire life and who he's dying to protect," he laughed, a malicious sound that made the villagers cringe, "What delightfully pathetic way to die; this is turning out even better than I hoped for."

Sasuke whipped around to face Orochimaru, "Shut up."

The snake faced man smiled, "You should face the truth Sasuke-kun. His life is fading as we speak."

Sasuke rose shaking with ice-cold rage.

"Oh Sasuke-kun does that bother you? The thought of your lover losing his life at my hands and being unable to do anything about it? How delicous."

Sasuke's Sharingan flared and shifted, suddenly transforming into the Mangekyou Shringan. Orochimaru backed away, for once fearing for his life. 'What? How did he gain the Mangekyou Sharingan? It's impossible!' Sasuke stalked towards Orochimaru, grabbed him by the throat and threw him into the nearest wall. Orochimaru summoned his Kusanagi sword from his mouth, wielding it with his tongue. Sasuke dodged, grabbed the tongue, and ripped it in half. Orochimaru screamed in pain and fury, and turned to escape only to find himself pinned to the wall with kunai. Despite his profusely injured and bleeding tongue, Orochimaru managed to say one last thing, "It's too bad that your time with your lover was so short and to think, if you had just been a little faster you could have saved him."

Sasuke's rage ignighted and he created a Chakra Net, sent the flames of the Amaretsu along it, and wrapped it around Orochimaru, slicing him into several small chunks.

Sasuke let the Sharingan fade and went back to Naruto. Iruka had managed to stop the bleeding but the amount of blood that Naruto had lost was massive and his normally tanned skin was paler than his lover's. Sasuke cradled Naruto in his arms, "Naruto?"

"Hey, you did it. Looks like it's easier for you to combine spatial recomposition with your fire nature chakra. Good job teme."

"Hush, that's not important right now usuratonkachi. You need to conserve your strength so Kyuubi can heal you."

Naruto coughed, blood leaked out of the corner of his mouth, "You know, I don't think Kyu can handle it alone this time. That snake had venom and Kyu's got his tails full trying to deal with it."

Sasuke paled as Naruto closed his eyes. He yanked the blond hair, "Don't you dare close your eyes Naruto."

"I'm tired Sasuke, I want to rest."

Sasuke's voice was choked as he argued with Naruto, "If you close your eyes you'll die. You can't do that, you can't leave me alone."

Naruto placed Sasuke's hand over his heart, "Feel that? My heart belongs to you Sasuke. You'll always have it so I'll always be with you."

"Damn it Naruto what about your dream!"

"I got my dream teme, because you love me."

Sasuke felt Naruto's heartbeat slow as he saw those blue eyes close, "No, NO! Naruto open your eyes! Wake up. Naruto!"

As Tsunade and Jiraya reached the Academy, Sasuke felt Naruto's heart stutter to a halt.

"No! Usuratonkachi wake up! Naruto! Fuck!," Sasuke slapped his hand against Naruto's chest and sobbed, "Wake up Naruto please."
