Drabbel Days
Fireflies (ChibiItachi Naruto)
Itachi sat on the large porch watching the six year old Naruto chase fireflies around the large back yard. The small blue-eyed child had a large grin on his whisker-marked cheeks and was wearing one of Itachi’s night shirts. A six year old in a ten year old child’s shirt was oddly amusing to him. Especially when the slightly chubby boy would trip.
Though Naruto was supposed to be inside sleeping, hence the reason why he was in Itachi’s clothes. That and his six year old best friend refused to share his clothes with Naruto. And his bed. Though Naruto had pouted to be able to sleep with Itachi for the summer, since his family had taken Naruto in while his family was on some expedition. Itachi didn’t really care. Having the small boy here made things interesting and made Sasuke actually act like a child. Which was new because Uchiha’s never behaved like children.
But their father just couldn’t frown upon Naruto’s behavior. Yes, the pout Naruto had even weakened their father. And did so into piggyback rides for both Sasuke and Naruto, though they had to promise to never speak of it again. Naruto’s cuteness even affected the stone cold Uchiha family leader.
It amused Itachi greatly-- at least until Naruto became attached to him. Making him play with both him and Sasuke. They played in mud and anything else Naruto found. Yet, like his father, he couldn’t tell that pouting face no.
Which was why they were outside way past bedtime so Naruto could chase fireflies.
“Itachi Nii-Chan!” The chibi voice whined making Itachi’s first official smirk, since he only ever frowned before now.
“Itachi Nii-Chan, help me catch the fairies!” The voice yelled again as Itachi’s eyebrow twitched.
“Naruto, those aren’t fairies.” He scoffed. Naruto stopped wide blue eyes turning towards him.
“Yes they are. Just look!” Naruto pouted. “You don’t believe?”
“No I don’t. Naruto those are fireflies nor fairies. Fairies aren’t real,” Itachi tried reasoning.
“But Itachi momma says every time you say you don’t believe in fairies a fairy dies!” The six year old Naruto started to cry, small fists coming to rub vigorously over small eyes.
Itachi sighed as he stood making his way to the crying child. He wrapped his arms tightly around Naruto hugging him closely. “I’m sorry, Naruto. You’re right. They are fairies.”
