Drabbel Days
Mud (Chibi's)
Itachi watched, amused, as his brother chased Naruto around the backyard while trying to look angry, but it was hard for the six-year-old boy -- especially when the six-year-old he was chasing was giggling up a storm. Naruto had thrown a ball of mud at Sasuke and had, as his little brother stated, ‘started a war and would pay dearly.’
It was funny; he’d never thought he would admit to something like this -- the desire to laugh as mud started flying back and forth between the two young boys.
Naruto had only been there for two days; the summer had just started and already the blue-eyed ball of energy was turning the Uchiha house upside down. In addition, their mother was enjoying it; she even bought a video camera and was filming the two boys playing.
“Itachi dear, you don’t want to play with them as well?”
The ten year olds head snapped quickly towards his mother, a look of horror crossing his face just from having the idea mentioned. He would not play in mud. He may have enjoyed watching but being involved was absolutely out of the question.
A thin brow arched when his mother started to giggle. Crimson eyes then widened when mud splattered against his face and clean clothes. He blinked a few times before hearing another two sets of giggles joining his mother’s.
Itachi turned towards the two boys quietly, standing slowly and hearing the excited squeak from both children before they fled from him.
Mikoto smiled sweetly, watching through the camera as her youngest son and godson ran from her eldest. Her smile widened when Itachi had grabbed both boys, promptly dropping them in a large mud puddle Naruto had made with the water hose. Only to be pulled in alongside them.
Naruto and Sasuke laughed, and she was sure she’d caught a glimpse of a smile on Itachi’s face as they played in the mud.
It was getting late though, and as much as she hated to spoil the fun, she was sure Naruto would think of many other things to do. It was time for them to come inside.
But first… She sat the camera down. Still recording the boys, it then captured Mikoto with the water-hose as she headed towards them -- as well as the new fit of delighted giggles that erupted from the two youngest as they were hosed down by her. There was no way that all of that mud would be tracked through her house.
One thing was for sure -- it had been a good idea to take in Naruto for the summer.
