Inside on the Outside

I don’t own Naruto, any of it’s characters, nor do I profit from my fics. Hey everybody, thanx for following! This is the last chapter of Inside on the Outside, however, I am starting a side story (I think I mentioned that, if not then I’ll be redundant) upon completion of this story that will finalize everything a little more. It involves the mountain trip that Kurenai invited Anko and Kakashi to go onso this chapter is short and a little up in the air. I hope you’ll read that one too, I think you’ll like it! September had turned into October. Anko was making a life (though it seemed) with Kakashi, he seldom let her out of his sight and Anko rarely looked at the world as if it were out to screw her over. This was a new feeling for Anko, she was used to expecting life to deal her a hard hand. But now, things were different, Anko relaxed…everyday…she relaxed. Kakashi was a changed man as well. He had let love creep into his life, Anko was the only person he loved who hadn’t been taken away from him. However, deep inside, he feared that something would take her away from him and if that happened it would be as if someone had taken his last breath from him. The months that he had gotten to know her had been the best months he had ever had for a long time. Never had he let anyone get that close to him, never had he let anyone become so involved in his life, and honestly he had to admit to himself, he liked it.

“Okay, so why don’t you just ask her?” Iruka asked Kakashi over lunch one day.

“It makes me nervous. I mean, Anko is everything to me and I’m afraid that would scare her. I would never do anything to push Anko away.” Kakashi answered, Iruka laughed.

“How the hell would asking her something like that make her detach from you? Isn’t that what couple needs?” Iruka asked.

“Iruka, we’re talking about Anko here. This is the woman who has been lied to used, abused and betrayed most of her life. This is the woman who didn’t believe me the first time I told her I loved her, and she has every right to be that bitter about love and commitment. It’s only natural that something like that would make her run because rarely has anyone been sincere about anything with Anko.” Kakashi looked serious.

“Well, you could be right, but she loves you Kakashi. She loves you, you are her everything, the only stability and security in her life. Why the hell would she want to escape the one person in her life that has mended her broken spirit?’ Iruka asked. “Kakashi, I should have stepped up for Anko when I had the chance, the night I had her in my bed, I should have never let her leave. I shouldn’t have let the door close on my hopes of ever having anything more than a one night stand with Anko. Your one night stand turned into the ultimate change in your life….do it…do it, man.” Kakashi didn’t say anything for a long time. In his heart he wanted to believe that Iruka was right, that Anko wouldn’t try to run the other way, if he asked what he wanted to ask her. There was only one way to find out…

“Okay, alright…I’ll do it. But not until we go to the mountains next month.” Kakashi said, he looked so serious and so nervous at the same time. Would he completely destroy everything he had with Anko, or change her life forever? Iruka smiled.

“A trip to a mountain paradise far from home does strange things to a couple Kakashi, I can’t wait to see what happens.” He said.
