Naruto tapped his foot and glared at Sasuke as the Uchiha was filling out paperwork, "Hurry up teme. I want to get home!"

Sasuke shot the blond an irritated look, "You won't be allowed to go home unless this paperwork is completed correctly so shut up and wait patiently."

Naruto snorted, "When, in all the time you've known me, have I ever been patient?"

Sasuke knew a rhetorical question when he heard one and deigned not to answer in spite of his twitching eyebrow. Of course he was getting impatient with all the paperwork involved in getting Naruto released from the hospital himself. He wanted sometime alone with his blond fox.

Throughout the entire week the only time he and Naruto had been alone was at night and by that time naruto had been exausted by all the visitors so Sasuke had been relagated to a chaste goodnight kiss and an uncomfortable cot instead of the intense make-out and soft bed he'd wanted. But the week was over and he could finally get some privacy with Naruto, if the bloody paperwork would ever end that is.

The nurse handed Sasuke another form and said, "This is the last one."

Naruto voiced what Sasuke was thinking, "Finally!"

Sasuke completed the form, grabbed Naruto's hand, and practically dragged him out of the hospital.

"Whoa teme! Take it easy."

"Hn."

Naruto rolled his eyes and let Sasuke pull him along. As reached a crowded part of the village, Naruto became aware of the strange looks the villagers sent his way, and he edged closer to Sasuke. The Uchiha glanced at him, "What is it?"

Naruto was glancing nervously around at the villagers, "I don't know. They're...looking at me."

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, "They always look at you."

"But this is different somehow."

The avenger stopped and studied the villagers and saw nothing unusual in their gazes.

All he saw was pride and admiration, then it hit him. He was accustomed to looks of pride and admiration from the villagers but Naruto, who had recieved nothing but hatred and disgust from them his entire life, wasn't. The sharp contrast in the villagers' behavior, while almost unoticable to Sasuke, was felt keenly by Naruto and it made him uneasy.

"It's alright Naruto. They're not going to hurt you."

Naruto's instincts, conditioned by years of attacks, were screaming otherwise but he suppressed them and continued to follow Sasuke. Every few feet a villager would stop and greet him with a 'Good Morning Uzumaki-san it's good to see you' or a 'Naruto-san it's nice to see you're feeling better'. With each greeting and smile Naruto became more and more tense and edged even closer to Sasuke. In the background where he once heard whispers of loathing for the 'Kyuubi brat' he now heard admiration for the 'heroic actions of Naruto-san', it was extreamly disturbing.

Sasuke noticed Naruto's rising tension, you'd have to be an idiot not to afterall, but wasn't sure how to soothe him while they were surrounded by the villagers. Suddenly a pack of squealing girls waylaid them and cooed, "Naruto-kun we're so happy to see that you're out of the hospital. Would you like to eat lunch with us," and other such flirty remarks. When one girl pressed way too close, trying to hug Naruto, the blond nearly jumped out of his skin and ran off like a bat out of hell towards the Uchiha mansion.

One of the villagers asked, "What's wrong with Uzumaki-san?"

Sasuke, who had tensed to follow Naruto, spun towards the group of villagers and growled, "For eighteen fucking years you've all despised Naruto's very existance and made him painfully aware of it and now, without any warning, explaination, or apology for your past actions, you're praising him effusively. He doesn't know what to think or how to act! He's afraid it's a trick to hurt him even more."

Sasuke took off after Naruto, leaving the stunned villagers comtemplating his words.

When Sasuke entered their bedroom, Naruto was sitting on the bed, knees drawn up to his chest, arms around his legs, and head resting on his knees. Sasuke sat next to him, "Naruto."

He raised his watery blue eyes to Sasuke's face. The Uchiha lifted a hand to wipe the tears away and felt Naruto's slight trembling.

"It's okay. They didn't mean any harm."

Naruto leaned into Sasuke's touch, "I know that in my head but my instincts...I'm sorry."

Sasuke embraced him, "Shhh, you don't have anything to apologize for."

He relaxed into Sasuke's arms, his trembling stopping. He sighed releasing the last of his tension, "It feels good to be back home with you."

Sasuke smiled and kissed Naruto softly, nibbling his lips and running his tongue under the blond's upper lip. Naruto opened his mouth to allow Sasuke to slip his tongue into it. The brunette explored Naruto's mouth almost hesitantly while his hands ran over the blond's clothed torso. Naruto squirmed and made a muffled noise of frustration. Sasuke broke the kiss and nibbled along Naruto's jawline, "Something wrong ururatonkachi?"

He lightly nipped Naruto's ear and ran slid his hands under the blond's shirt, one hand tracing the seal while the other teased one of Naruto's nipples making him mewl. The Uchiha's mouth shifted to the pulse point on Naruto's neck, lightly sucking, nipping, and licking the sensitive spot causing a slight moan to escape Naruto's throat. Sasuke moved the hand at Naruto's navel under the waistband of the blond's pants, to run one finger lightly over the hardening shaft. Naruto hissed, "Why are you being so gentle?"

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, "You want me to be rough?," he lapped at the bead of sweat that ran down naruto's cheek when the blond registered the dark tone of the Uchiha's voice.

Naruto's eyes widened. 'This is either really good or really bad.'

Sasuke stripped out of his own clothes and just stared at naruto for a moment. He still felt the chill of nearly losing him and wanted to prove to himself that his usuratonkachi really was still alive. He raked his blunt nails down Naruto's back harshly, making the blond stiffen in surprise and pleasure. Sasuke crouched over Naruto and slid his hands under the tanned body, one pale hand went down to pump the blond's erection while the other went up to pinch Naruto's nipples hard, just this side of pain. The Uchiha tugged a blanket over the two of them before tumbling into sleep.
