The New Otokage

Chapter 29: Is it time already?

“Can I please have everyone´s attention?” the Otokage asked as he, Kakashi and Iruka returned to Naruto´s little birthday party.

“What´s up Teme?” Naruto asked. He had just finished hugging his kid brother who had just joined them after his meeting with his squad leader. Ryû had been gone nearly two months as he and his genin team had a mission at Suna-gakure; assisting Gaara and especially his moody girlfriend Kira who was five month pregnant with all sorts of things.

Sasuke flashed a rare smile at his seven month pregnant husband. ´Thank god for the Kyuubi and her god-like powers,` the Uchiha thought happily… if it hadn´t been for the nine-tailed demon he would never have dreamed of having children as the only person he had ever loved was Naruto… and men normally didn´t get pregnant.

“I have a big announcement to make,” Sasuke proclaimed which earned him everyone’s attention.

“What more can you give Naruto than you already have given him?” Gaara asked while looking away from Kira who petted Aya (A/N: the Kitsune kitten that Sasuke gave Naruto in the previous chapter XD). The young Kitsune purred while she tried to chew on Kira´s slender fingers that tickled her furry belly.
“Oh this is not really a gift from me… well maybe a little as I accepted the generous offer that Tsunade-sama has bestowed upon us on your birthday Naru-koi,” Sasuke told them. “Maybe you should be the one that tells Naruto and the others the great news Iruka-sensei.”

“… Me?” Iruka asked while a cute blush spread on his cheeks. “Well…T-Thank you Sasuke-kun. Naruto… you know how Kakashi and I love you as if you were our son.”

“Yes I do… and I love you too… you are part of my family,” the blonde told them with a warm smile. He grabbed his mother and kid brother’s hands to show them that he loved them dearly too.

“… Well I… eh we decided to… ask, no more like demand that we were both transferred to Oto-gakure to be able to help you and Sasuke-kun during the pregnancy and after the twins are born too. We… want to be a part of your and your children’s´ lives… as we… well… ´Kashi and I will never have children of out own… so we would be honored if you would accept us here… as the grand fathers´ of your children.” The brunette admitted.

“Y-You´re moving… to the Sound… permanently?” Naruto asked with wide eyes.

“Yes we are. Happy birthday Naruto.” The silver-haired nin chuckled.

“Really?” the blonde squealed cheerfully. He was hugged by his surrogate fathers and everyone celebrated the new inhabitants of Oto-gakure.

Now almost a month later… around the sixth of November, Kakashi and Iruka had found the house of their dreams only a few minutes walk away from the Uchiha-Uzumaki estate.

Tsunade had kindly spared a the remaining members of the rookie nine to help the two sensei to move the rest of their belongings from Konoha to Oto and now Kushina, Ryû, Kira and Naruto was helping the Hatake-Umino couple to unpack and settle down… well it was more like Kushina, Iruka and Ryû who did the unpacking while Naruto and Kira talked about morning sickness, swollen feet and arches.

The two pregnant… eh… ´women` (gomen Naru-chan heh heh)… ate a lot of multi flavored ice-cream with funny toppings… like Naruto´s favorite; cherry ice-cream with caramel sauce and shredded carrots on top.
Or what about Kira´s chocolate chip ice-cream, orange sorbet with pecan nuts, pistachios and green Jell-O toppings.

Kakashi had somehow managed to disappear to god knows where and the two fathers to be(Sasuke and Gaara) was at work at the Otokage tower; establishing new trade routes and Sasuke was lecturing Gaara in how to treat Kira.

Sasuke cared deeply for the blonde woman who had done whatever she could to please him and truly been his friend; he wanted to see her as happy as he was with Naruto. (A/N. yup, Sasuke ain´t as cold as he wants people to think.)

“So… will you merry her before your son is born?” the Uchiha asked as the boring paperwork was done.

“… What is it to you if I do or don´t, Uchiha?” the Kazekage asked with an indifferent voice.

“Kira-chan is important to me and I tend to do my best to protect the ones I lo-… care about.”

“I see... I-I have asked her to merry me…” Gaara said hesitantly.

“But?” the Otokage asked firmly.

“She told me she couldn´t do that unless she was sure that you had found someone to replace her. She cares a lot about you and Naruto.” The redhead told him. “She hugged Ryû-kun and almost refused to let him go as the boy entered Suna to fulfill his mission as requested. She thought it was Naruto-kun who had come to visit her… they really look alike except for Naruto´s… condition.” Gaara said with a smirk.

“It´s not ´a condition` Gaara… he bears my children… my twins,” the Uchiha said proudly. “And yes, Ryû-chan does look a lot like the Dobe… I will tell Kira that I have asked Kakashi to take her place. He won´t be as efficient as her… but he´ll do as long as I hold the new edition of the ´Icha Icha series – now with even more hotness` ransom. Thank Kami that my Naru-koi is Jiraiya´s godson and on good terms with the old pervert,” the Uchiha allowed himself to chuckle… so did the Kazekage as they knew just how perverted Kakashi and Jiraiya were.

“So basically you give me your permission to steal away your precious little flower(Kira-chan – Naruto is his Kitsune-koi XD) and to merry her?”

“… I see the happiness in her eyes Gaara… she loves you. I´m about to become a father… just like you´ll be in a few months, I want you to become happy together… to create a family like the Dobe and me as all of us has lived alone for too long. Make her happy and know that you’re always welcome here at the Sound… we´re practically gonna be family as Kira is like a sister to me… But remember Gaara… if you break her heart… Naruto and I will kick your ass so badly that you would wish you´d never been born.”

The Kazekage couldn´t help but to smile at the Uchiha´s display of love and care for Gaara´s future wife.

“I understand perfectly Otokage-sama, I will threat her with nothing but respect and love… she will have the life worthy of a queen… thank you for letting her go.” Gaara bowed towards Sasuke with real respect for the first time in his life. Sasuke had earned a place in Gaara´s heart… which only few had managed to accomplish before him.

“Well I guess that´ll make us… brothers-in law… well not really, but-”

“You´re right Sasuke. Naruto is like a brother to me and Kira is like a sister to you… that is enough to make us family… at least in my eyes.”

Little Aya looked up at her master who didn´t seem to feel quite well. She mewled at him while licking his quickly paling cheeks from her secure spot on his left shoulder. The blonde petted her head out of reflex as he seemed to be in pain.

Kira had noticed the sudden change in her friend´s behavior as Naruto more than once had failed to answer her questions about his pregnancy so far.

“Naruto? Are you alright?” Kira asked for the third time. She still didn´t receive an answer which made her worry about him.

Naruto suddenly leaned forward and let out a pained cry while holding onto his stomach.

“K-Kira… the twins… No…too soon,” Naruto cried. “S-Sa…s´ke… I´m… sorry… Kyuu-chan…”

“Iruka-sensei, Kushina-sama, Ryû-chan… something is wrong!” She cried as Naruto´s eyes normally sparkling blue eyes tuned dull.

“Kira?! What is-” Kushina began but as she saw the cold sweat pouring from her firstborn son and saw his pale face she froze. She dropped the box she was holding and rushed to her son’s aid.

“Ryû! Call Sakura-chan, tell her to come to the hospital right away. And send a messenger bird to Tsunade-sama in Konoha and tell her to a.s.a.p. tell her that it regards Naruto. After you do that, go and fetch Sasuke from the Otokage tower and bring him to the hospital… something is… wrong with Naruto!”

The younger blonde just nodded and did what he was told as his mother and Iruka brought his older brother to the hospital while Kira followed closely behind.

Sakura was thankfully still staying at Oto-gakure as Tsunade had asked her to keep an eye on Naruto´s unusual pregnancy… she was the best medic beneath Tsunade-Hime and only the best was good enough for the Hokage´s favorite blonde knucklehead shinobi after all.

She was trying to explain to Kankurou and Kiba that even though they were powerful shinobi they wouldn´t be able to have children like Naruto and Sasuke… (Did someone mention that love makes blind and sometimes lowers the IQ? XD) as Naruto´s kid brother rushed through the door.

“Sa-Sakura-neechan… A-Aniki… in pain… Kasan, Iruka-san… hospital…” he panted which made her worst fears come forth.

“Oh kami no… it´s still too soon… Sorry boys but Naru-niisan is in trouble… Gotta go!” She shouted as she grabbed Ryû by the wrist and ran as fast as possible towards the hospital.

Once inside the best hospital of Oto-gakure she finally let go of the flustered teen who still had to inform his brother’s husband about the incident.

“I´ll go straight to Naru-chan´s room… Ryû-kun, get Sasuke and drag his ass over here immediately… Naruto need his support – GO!” She cried as the present nurse handed her Naruto´s file and room number.

´Argh… as if I´m not worried about niisan´s condition too… but I know how important my Aniki is to his friends and husband… better hurry or Sasuke-niisan will roast my ass for sure!` Ryû thought as he nodded in response as Sakura´s orders as the good shinobi he was, before he rushed off to fetch the Otokage from his office.

Tsunade jumped over her desk and shouted to Shizune to assemble the best and fastest medic in Konoha-gakure for immediate departure as she had received the important message from Oto-gakure from Ryû´s bird.

“My gaki is in trouble – I want everyone ready for departure in five!”

“Yes, Tsunade-sama.” Shizune answered right away as she too was worried about their favorite blonde and his unusual pregnancy. ´Oh kami… what if something is wrong with the twins… or what if the Kyuubi isn´t strong enough… what about Naruto? The male body isn´t cut out to bear children… and definitely not twins,` the Hokage´s assistant thought while tears of desperation ran down her cheeks.

´Naruto… please… you have come this far… you have to make it through this… and your children as well. Please prove to us once more that you can pull of things that we think of as impossible.` she begged.

Sasuke was about to go home as Ryû appeared in the middle of his office. The younger blonde´s face was red from the lack of regular breathing and from the fear and worry he felt for his Aniki.

“Ryû-chan! What is wrong?” Sasuke demanded to know.

“Sasuke… It´s Naruto… Kasan and Iruka… they brought him to the hospital… please… go there right away… he´s-” the Uchiha was gone before Ryû had a change to finish. Gaara grabbed Naruto´s kid brother and used the ´Shunshin no jutsu` to move with the speed of light to the hospital of Oto-gakure to support Naruto in any way possible.

Sasuke pushed his way past all the curious nurses and friends and family of his husband to get into the emergency room. His heart screamed and he felt on the edge of panicking as he heard Naruto´s painful cries from the other side of the door.

“Let me through damn it!” He growled at them as they didn´t clear his path as fast as he wanted them to. “Naruto… NARUTO!”

Kushina suddenly stepped forward and used a rather powerful Futon no jutsu to clear the Otokage´s path. “Go to him Sasuke-sama… Stay at his side as his husband… and his friend.”

“I will,” the raven told her. He could see the desperate tears in her green eyes… she was scared… scared that something would go wrong and that she would lose her son… again. “He´ll be fine… and so will the twins,” he tried to convince not only her… but himself as well.

She nodded and smiled at him as the young leader entered the room. ´I guess I know were he got his brilliant but fake smiles from.` he thought.

Sasuke froze as he saw his significant other on the examination table. Naruto was screaming in pain while Sakura and two other medics´ tried to restrain the blonde and tell him what to do… though the blonde seemed too lost in pain and panic to listen.

“Oi Sasuke, give us a hand here.” Sakura yelled at the Uchiha. “You have to calm him down and make him use the ´Oiroke no jutsu`… it is time.”

“… But it´s too soon,” Sasuke argued as he rushed to Naruto´s side to hold him as the medics’ weren’t strong enough to restrain the powerful blonde… not even close… though he was weakened greatly by the pregnancy and the pain of labor.

“Sasuke! Both Naruto and the twins will die if he doesn’t give birth now. The Kyuubi won´t be able to help out as her powers are nearly depleted from the long pregnancy. A female Kitsune doesn´t bear her kits for this long and even a great demon like Kyuu-chan has her limits… Sasuke… this is a very risky situation… you have to be strong… and maybe… even make a though decision.”

“… Don´t say that,” the Uchiha told her. How could she ask him to even consider a thing like that… how could he possibly…No, he wouldn´t even think of something of something like that.

“Then make him calm down and use the ´Oiroke no Jutsu`… Now!” The pink-haired medic demanded.

“Naruto… DOBE!” Sasuke´s hands cupped Naruto´s burning cheeks and looked into hazy, pain streaked blue eyes.

“… S-Sas… I-I… so much… pain,” the blonde whimpered.

“Look at me Dobe… I´m here with you every step of the way.” The Uchiha told his husband. “I love you and I need you to listen to me.”

“I-I will… try… what d-do you need me t-to do?” Naruto asked with a trembling voice. He would do his best to be strong… for Sasuke… for the twins… and for himself.

“Naruto-koi, I need you to change into Sarah-chan… it is time… I know that you´re in pain and that you´re tired… but you need to do this for me… for us.”

“… H-Hai…´Oiroke no Jutsu!`” Naruto used his last chakra to turn himself into his female alter ego Sarah as he had agreed to give birth the natural way… a decision he regretted right now.

“That´s it Naruto-koi… now listen to my voice and we will go through this together,” the Uchiha pleaded.

“… H-Hai… anything… y-you say T-Teme,” the whiskered woman hissed as the contractions trembled painfully through her frail body. Sasuke crawled onto the bed and sat down behind his spouse so she rested between his strong legs; her back against his chest.

“Sasuke, make her push every time I give you this hand sign. Try to keep her calm by speaking to her… it doesn´t matter what you say… just say something as she´ll use your voice as her beacon.” Sakura told him while showing him the hand sign she would use. She was standing between the blonde´s bended legs; ready to help her friend in any way possible during the labor.

Sasuke nodded as he took Sarah’s hands in his and immediately wished he hadn´t as the blonde squeezed his hands so tightly that he was would swear that he heard the bones crack as his soul-mate had another painful contraction.

“Naruto listen to me… I need you to push now… Dobe, PUSH!”

“Aaarrgghhh,” the blonde woman screamed in pain as she did as asked. She arched her back and let her head fall against Sasuke´s strong chest.

Her body was feverish and covered in sweat while she screamed through gritted teeth.

Sasuke wanted nothing more than to take away Naruto´s pain as he felt like breaking inside every time that Sakura made Sasuke order Naruto to push again. Naruto was getting weaker by the second and the Uchiha doubted that his Dobe would be able to make it through this.

“I love you Dobe… Please… hold on… just a little longer… I´m here for you… no matter what,” He repeated the same words over and over to soothe the fevered mind of his beloved blonde as hours passed by with vicious contractions and endless hand signs from the pink-haired konoichi.

“Aaarrgghhh...T-Teme… Kyuu-chan… in pain… she can´t… hold on… much longer… M-Me neither… so much… Aaarrgghhh… Pain…”

“Just a little longer… I can already see the head.” Sakura told them. “The first one is the worst… as soon as the head is out everything will be a lot easier… I promise. Now… PUSH!”

“Aaarrgghhh,” the girl cried while the Uchiha whispered soothing words in her ear.

“Here we go… the head is out… Naruto the worst part is over… just a little longer and you´ll be a mommy.” And with that she signaled Sasuke to make the blonde push again.
