you don't want me.

You know the drill, I don't own the naruto verse, I never did. If I did, i doubt you'd be reading my drable here, and I'd have significantly fewwer money troubles, but I don't, you are, and I do.

To ruka and my dearest uchiha-san, (and anyone else who wants to leave me a note) thank you for your sweet reveiws. remember, you are the drive that makes me write, and every word you leave me, or any other writer, can alter them and their story forever. I love you all. I told myself I'd try to comic-ify a chapter for every thousand hits, but that number's going up pretty fast. so I guess I'd better get to work, eh? look for a link in the near future folks.

Holding-
“I don’t like that one.” Naruto huffed as Neji pointed out another abode in the rent book. “Fine!” Neji tossed the book at him and the blonde caught it with ease. “What about this one?” Naruto pointed out. Neji glared “Too expensive.” “You’re just saying that because I didn’t like yours.” Neji snarled and started to rise from his chair. She wrapped her arms around him, pressing him back into the chair, and kissed the top of his head. She felt the trembling in him ease from rage to comfortable relaxation as his arms reached up to hug her behind him. Then she moved to Naruto, plucking the book out of his hands. “That is out of your price range…” she said with an apologetic glance as she paged through the book, “How about this one?” she flashed a picture of a building, not too rundown, but cheap and still in a good neighborhood. Naruto smiled at her. She flashed the picture at Neji, but he waved it away, trusting her judgment, and already re-immersed in his book. She smiled.

Months passed in the tantalizing bliss of secrecy. Moments stolen from time to stand, silver, like snapshots in her mind. She couldn’t remember a time when she’d been happier. “I’ll take this one” she smiled at the old woman as she bagged the loaf. Just fruit left and she’d be done. Hinata had done the grocery shopping for Neji and Naruto ever since they had moved out to live together in an effort to make life easier on her. The theory was that no one would think two bachelors moving out, together, out of the ordinary, but two bachelors and a girl? That screamed, “sin”. So she stayed at home for the time being, visiting as often as was possible, which was much less than she’d like. She always made time for this though. She made the trip once a week to the grocer’s to pick up supplies and take them to their house. They would fight for a little while over who would cook, but it always ended up the same. Naruto would cook as she and Neji picked out a movie to watch, throwing titles to Naruto for acceptance or rejection. Then they would all cuddle on the couch and watch for at least ten minutes. Sometimes she fell asleep wrapped in their warmth to wake in the morning, but mostly it dissolved into heavy petting, then Naruto would be inside her and Neji behind him, or assisting without hindering. She paused in selecting the apples. A thought passed her mind. It was never Neji in her. She felt dirty at that thought, but she wanted him. Did he not want her? “Why…?” she whispered to the apple she was inspecting. “I don’t think it’s going to answer you” She jumped and spun. Neji smiled at her as she caught her breath. “I didn’t mean to sneak up on you.” She returned his smile and kissed him on the cheek. “I was about done anyway. Is Naruto with you?” He shook his head. “He’s at home looking up recipes. He’s finally accepted that’s he’s going to be the cook here.” She laughed remembering the time she and Neji had tried to make curry. Naruto had kicked them out of ‘his’ kitchen after the third disaster. She paid for the fruit and walked outside escorted by the older Huuga. The sun was creeping down the sky to squat fat and orange over the buildings, casting long black shadows. At the first available opportunity he pulled her aside and kissed her full and deep and long. He changed instantly when she pulled away, one hand on his chest, and gave him a half-hearted smile. She didn’t want him to do this if he didn’t want to. He cupped her face in one hand forcing her to look at him, “What’s wrong?” She just shook her head, “No, it’s Ok.” He wrenched her gaze back onto him “It is not Ok. What’s going on?” She tried to pull away, tried to break his stare. In the end she had to close her eyes. “You don’t want me.” She whispered. He was taken aback. “What?!?” She pulled away from him, hurrying to the house now. He had to run to catch her after his stunned silence. “What?” he repeated. She flashed him a smile then looked away, “No. It’s Ok. I don’t mind. Really. I…” She faltered and flashed him another smile then walked on. He stopped her, hands binding her. “Who said…What…” he sputtered, “What makes you think I don’t want you?” She blushed and looked away, “We’ve never…I mean, not you…with me. You always…Naruto and…” she shook as she fiercely avoided his gaze.
He took a deep breath, stilling himself. Hands on her shoulders he ducked to meet her eyes. “You want me?” She blushed and dropped her stare, nodding. “Good.” He hissed, dragging her by one hand into the dark street they always took home. She gasped as he pinned her to a wall, his lips feeding hungrily at hers. She pulled away from him gasping his name as her hands pressed into his chest. With one arm Neji pulled her to him, using his body to brace her against the building behind her, the other undid the latch of her pants. He pulled away from her letting her breath as he slid the garment over her hips, just enough. She dropped the groceries and buried her hands in his hair. For a moment he forgot what he was doing as she kissed him, then he was lifting her, pressing her back into the rough bricks as she curled around him. She gasped when he found her already wet, nimble fingers working to bring her almost before she knew it. She jerked, fingernails scoring his shoulders where his loose fitting shirt had slipped. He slid into her. He held her there like that until she looked down at him, panting. She brushed a stray strand from his eyes. His eyes locked hers, silver on silver, as he moved out of her, rocking her against the wall. She buried her face in his hair then, taking in the smell of him like something cold on a hot day; a brush of winter in late fall or early spring. His thrusting sped, growing in urgency. His head cast back, eyes closed, brows drawn together in concentration as his warmth slipped from him in a hot rush. He pressed against her panting for a moment, waiting, before letting her slip gently to the ground. She held him, shaking, as he lifted her pants and buttoned them around her still twitching hips. “Can you walk?” He whispered as he tucked himself away. She nodded and pulled away from him. She took a step and stumbled into his waiting arms. Without another word he lifted her onto his back, scooping the groceries up in one hand. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders. “Why haven’t you…” she started but Neji stopped her, “That night” he mumbled, “The first night, I though that he should be your first. I just never…” She nodded into his hair and held him all the tighter.
Naruto rushed to take the groceries from Neji as he awkwardly opened the door. His concern for Hinata was immediate, “Did you twist your foot?” He asked as he lifted her from their lover’s back and onto the couch. She looked at Neji, blushing, and smiled. “Something like that.”
