Chapter Three


Squad 7 sat in the resturant, Kakashi true to his word brought them there upon entering the Village of The Hidden Leaves.

Naruto wolfed down ramen and sweet dumplins while Sasuke and Sakura settled for tea. Kakashi himself ate a sandwich with one hand and held his naughty book with the other.

"Why aren't you two eating?" Naruto asked Sakura and Sasuke. "All you guys ate was breakfast."

"...I have no appetite." Sasuke said.

Sakura said. "I'm on a diet."

"You shouldn't be dieting at our age." Sasuke said. "Besides you don't need to."

Sakura blushed and felt like floating while the other Saukra did flips and karate chops.

"Hey! Stop flirting with her.!" Naruto warned and Sasuke put his tea cup down.

"I wasn't flirting you moron, I was stating the truth." The Uchida said.

Kakashi sighed and put down his book and food. "Naruto stop acting." He said. "I know you really don't have a crush on Sakura, but rather on Sasuke."

Naruto's eyes swelled up to plate size and his jaw dropped. Saukra nearly spat out her tea and Sasuke shook his head with a sweatdrop.

"WHAT!?" The blonde screamed. "I do not damn it! Why does everyone always gang up on me!"

Kakashi chuckled at him. "I'm sorry, I'm just teasing you, that's all." He said and patted the blonde's back. "Okay we need to finish eating and then you three report to the Hokage."

Sakura and Sasuke finished their tea while Kakashi ate the rest of his sandwich and Naruto was done with his spread.

"Everyone done?" Kakashi asked and then he payed for what they ordered. "Okay, lets go." The four went off to the Hokage's place and a ninja greeted them at the door.

"Does the Hokage know you were coming?" The man asked.

"We're reporting our mission." Naruto said and Kakashi nodded.

"Okay, come on in." The man said and the four stepped in. The Hokage walked up to them with a smile and a nod. The group told him of their mission, the rain and Kakashi told him about being followed.

"So you were being followed after you left?" The Hokage asked, taking a puff of his pipe and Kakashi nodded.

"Wait," Sasuke said suddenly. "When we were in the hut during the rain, I thought I saw some figures. I wasn't sure becasue a second later nothing was out there so I assumed it was just the rain messing up my vision." He said.

"Why didn't you say something sooner?" asked Kakashi.

"Like I said, I thought the rain was affecting my vision." Sasuke said. "...I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize." The Hokage said. "A lot of young ninjas have trouble seeing through hard rain." He said. "Okay, I wanted to tell you four that the other countries, main villages if you will. Anyways there have been reports that some livestock and even people have been turning up dead." He said and their eyes went large.

"Dead?" Naruto squeaked. "You mean there's some disease?"

"No." The Hokage shook his head. "They're being drained of blood and some even partially eaten." He said.

"You mean...the people..were even...." Sakura said, her face tinting green.

"Yes." He nodded again and they shuddered. "So keep a sharp eyes out and keep extra guard." He said and then waved. "You may go now."

With a bow they left and Sasuke paused as the others started to walk away.

"What's wrong Sasuke?" Kakashi asked.

"Nothing." He said. "Just thinking of what the Hokage said." Sasuke said.

"Well it's getting dark so we better get in, just to feel safe." Kakashi said. "I'll take Sakura home and you two walk together until you get close to your places." He said and Sasuke and Naruto looked at each other.

"Sensei...." Naruto began, but Kakashi walked off with Sakura so the two boys started walking.

"If anyone tries to eat me I'll just beat them so bad they wished they didn't bother." Naruto said.

"...." Sasuke looked at the blonde then just looked forward as three figures watched.

"Now?" The male asked.

"No." The lead female said. "Just wait, I want the moment to be perfect." With a smile they disappeared.
