========================================

A shadowy figure stands atop Hokage Mountain staring down at the peaceful village as the faint sounds of the late-night radio

show drifts up to its ears. The figure almost smiles fondly at the memories evoked by the song playing over the airwaves.

Sharingan eyes cast a final gaze over Konoha before the Uchiha descends to the streets below.

========================================

Sasuke’s feet seem to move of their own volition as they carry their owner down streets towards a destination that only they know. As his eyes wander over the buildings around him flashes of memories cross his mind as he recalls walking these same streets only a few short years ago.

Look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh. How did our eyes get so red and what the hell is on Joey's head?

Sasuke comes to a stop in front of the Uchiha compound and finds himself staring up at the giant fan symbol staring down at him. Though it has been years since anyone has lived on the grounds from all outer appearances it looks as if someone has at least painted the outer walls of the houses.

This is where I grew up. I think the present owner fixed it up. I never knew we ever went without. The second floor is hard for sneaking out.

Turning around he takes to the rooftops as he continues his stroll down memory-lane. For reasons unknown to him he stops in front of the Academy and almost laughs as he recalls the day he and the others were assigned their squads.

This is where I went to school. Most of the time had better things to do. Criminal record says I broke in twice. I must've done it half a dozen times.

Closing his eyes the Uchiha forces his emotions down before they threaten to overwhelm him. Feelings of regret and longing no longer hold sway over him and he reminds himself of this fact as he casts one last glance at the school before moving on.

I wonder if it's too late. Should I go back and try to graduate. Life's better now than it was back then. If I was them, I wouldn't let me in.

A few minutes later Sasuke finds himself standing on the bridge were his old team used to gather while waiting for Kakashi to give them their next mission. Thoughts of their first A-Ranked mission and the Chunin Exams enter his mind as well as countless other lesser assignments.

Every memory of looking out the back door, I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye.

“Was I wrong to leave?” he asks himself for the first time since his departure from the village he grew-up in. “Or was it a mistake to come back?” These questions replay themselves in his head as he continues walking towards his next destination.

Every memory of walking out the front door, I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye.

Standing in their old training ground he can’t help but laugh as he stares at the three posts in the center of the field and recalls how Naruto had been tied to the center post while he and Sakura were given their lunches.

Remember the old arcade? Blew every dollar that we ever made, the cops hated us hanging out. They say somebody went and burned it down.

“Baka,” he says almost sadly thinking of his best friend and rival. “No matter how bad things were you never gave up,” he adds almost admiring the loudmouth’s determination. The Uchiha forces his emotions back down as he gives the field one last look over before moving on yet again.

We used to listen to the radio and sing along with every song we'd know. We said someday we'd find out how it feels to sing to more than just the steering wheel.

For reasons unknown to him he finds himself standing atop a roof staring into the open window across the street as he watches a pink haired kunoichi sitting on her bed crying as she holds a picture frame in front of her. “Sakura-chan,” he says softly.

Kim's the first girl I kissed. I was so nervous that I nearly missed. She's had a couple of kids since then. I haven't seen her since God knows when.

He watches his former teammate crying for only Kami knows why unable to fight back the single tear drop the travels slowly down his cheek. “You wanted what I could never give you,” he confesses to the night. “I know I hurt you when I left but you must forget about me and move on with your life.”

Every memory of looking out the back door, I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye.

After leaving Sakura’s he finds himself standing outside the apartment of his other teammate. Looking into the window he finds the blonde in question staring at an identical picture to the one Sakura had been crying over while listening to the radio.

Every memory of walking out the front door, I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye.

“Dobe,” he says while watching Naruto. “Why are you so strong? What is it that you have that I don’t?” he asks knowing that he’ll never get an answer. “You should have just let me go,” he says remembering their fight and how he had almost killed the other boy. “Why did you come after me?”

I miss that town I miss their faces. You can’t erase, you can’t replace it. I miss it now I can’t believe it, so hard to stay, too hard to leave it. If I could relive those days I know the one thing that would never change.

Despite his best efforts to the contrary doubts and regrets begin to plague his every thought as he continues to walk along the roof tops of his former home wondering why he ever left and if they would accept him again if he returned.

Every memory of looking out the back door, I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye.

“I never should have come back here," he finally tells himself as he once again stands atop the faces on the mountain. “It was a mistake that I shall never make again,” he promises himself taking one last look at the village below before turning to walk away.

Every memory of walking out the front door, I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for. It's hard to say, it's time to say it. Goodbye, goodbye. Look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh. Every time I do it makes me...

A/N: I wish to thank ClaireBear for this request. I think it actually turned out pretty good. Sasuke’s a difficult character to write so I took a few liberties with his reactions here and there but for the most part I think I got his personality fairly accurate.

I’m still working on the other requests I’ve already accepted and will hopefully have them finished within the next few days. It’s taking me a little while to get the songs and lyrics so I know what I’m working with. This one was fairly easy since I had the CD and lyrics already.

Keep your requests and dedications coming and I’ll keep writing.
