A bond thicker than blood

Well today it was pissing with rain so I got in the mood to write some more on the story, didn’t expect to finish it though since I am meeting a friend at 4. But still have 3 hours to kill so going to start chapter 4.

Chapter 3

Naruto woke when a sunbeam hit his eyes; he groaned and opened one eye. He had forgotten to pull the curtains shut last night and he was too lazy and tired to do it now. Naruto groaned again and pulled the cover over his face ‘damn sun, to bright’ he though, just as he was slowly drifting off to sleep again his phone rang filling the room with that annoying song. Why on earth had he let Sakura talk him into having personalized ring tone? He rolled himself to the side and stuck one hand out form under the cover in search for the phone which he knew he had tossed on the floor somewhere near the bed. ‘Oh shut up’ he mentally shouted to himself before his hand found the phone and he lifted it up to his ear to hear Lee’s voice on the other end. “You took your sweet time” Lee said on the other end of the phone. “Well excuse me for sleeping” he snapped and yawned in to the phone, Lee laughed a little before continuing the conversation. “Well since it is Saturday and sunny we though we should have a small picnic on the grass just outside our halls, you know right next to the lake.” Naruto could hear Sakura shout something in the background, she obviously had been sleeping over in Lee’s room or vice versa. “what time is it” Naruto asked, he couldn’t be bothered pulling down the covers just yet to look at the alarm clock on his nightstand. “11.15” Lee said after a short pause ’11.15, what the f…’ he groaned again. Naruto had never been a morning person and hated getting up before 12, usually he would stay up until 7 or 8 in the morning. His sleeping patter could resemble a bat, he couldn’t remember last time he had slept a whole night straight through. “What time is this bloody picnic” Naruto asked “hmm it starts at one, hold on a second” Lee began talking to Sakura who was dictating what he was going to say next “Sakura says you need to bring some thing to eat, like cookies and stuff like that and not ramen. I think she underlined the ramen about 50 times oh yeah and some sodas.” Lee snickered “Don’t be late Naruto” he heard Sakura shout in to the phone “yeah please don’t be late you know how Sakura hats you being late. There will be some other people joining us for the picnic as well; we’ll introduce you when you get here.” Lee said before saying goodbye and hanging up the phone. Again Naruto groaned as he stretched his body, well since he was already awake he might as well get up and get ready.

Once Naruto had left the store he headed for the subway, he looked down at his watch 12.30, ‘plenty of time’ he though and walked down the street. People were already out tending to their gardens and children were playing in the small park in front of his apartment building. The sun was already high in the sky so the mothers of the children was holding tubs of sun cream shouting at their children to come and get some. Naruto had decided it was to war for his jeans so he had put on his dark blue Hawaiien shorts with a white tank top with a ice blue coloured shirt on top, as usual he had his wrist band on his left wrist. Sakura had wondered why he was wearing it since he didn’t play tennis or any sport that would require it, he had only smiled at her saying it was his style after that she hadn’t asked more about it. To his surprise he was getting better at telling Sakura exactly what she wanted to hear, ever since that day she had acted like a mother to Naruto, trying to act more of an adult than she was. Maybe that’s the reason why Naruto’s crush faded away, who would want to have a crush on their mother.

As Naruto neared the main gate of the university he noticed a familiar person leaning against the wall, he sighed and walked passed him with out saying a word. Momochi smiled “have a nice picnic!” he said before folding the paper up and walking in the other direction. Naruto smirked a little, everybody was so overprotective. He looked over his shoulder not really expecting to see Momochi, he was like a ghost at times, one minute he was there and the next he was gone. Naruto walked in to the university gate and on the small road leading towards the lake.

“Naruto!!” Kiba shouted from where they were sitting, Naruto headed towards them noticing a group of people he hadn’t seen before. “Naruto!” Sakura smiled and indicated him to sit next to her; he complied and gave Lee the bag with soda and cookies. “everyone this is Naruto” she said moving her face from one end of the group to the other, they all nodded before one boy with long black hair and whit eyes stretched out his hand, “Hyūga Neji” Naruto took his hand and shook it. “Nara Shikamaru” another boy said not getting up, it was to bothersome and only gave Naruto a wave. Naruto starred a little at the boy who had his hair up in a ponytail. Then he saw a shaky hand come in front of him “Hyūga Hinata, nice to meet you Naruto-kun” her cheeks were turning read as he took her hand “nice to meet you to” he said noticing that Nejii and Hinata had the same last name. Then he laid his eyes on a chubby boy sitting next to Hinata eating out of a bag of potato chips, he looked up at Naruto “Akimichi Chōjih” he said with chips in his mouth spraying crumbles all over. “Say it don’t spray it Chōjih!” Ino said in an annoyed voice, they all laughed and began chatting and asking questions about the usual stuff. For once Naruto was enjoying himself, talking to Nejii wasn’t as hard as he had expected and they laughed together as Ino was chasing Chōjih around the grass shouting at him for eating the last bag of chips with out telling them. Before any of them realized the time had passed by six and people began to feel tired, all day they had played games and eaten anything except healthy food. They began to pack up everything and laid plans for tomorrow, Nejii had asked Naruto if he wanted to go to the movies tomorrow and he had agreed. Kiba had jumped in asking which movie they were going to see, his puppy dog eyes were begging them both to take him along, they both smiled and asked if he would like to join which Kiba was only to happy to say yes to. They also asked Chōjih and Shikamaru if they wanted to as well which they didn’t seem to mind. After exchanhing phone numbers with the boys Naruto waved to everyone as he headed back towards the main gate.

When Naruto reached the gate he saw a person leaning against, “what are you still doing following me Momochi” Naruto wasn’t too annoyed but he would like to know why he had been following him closer these past few weeks. “Sorry to disappoint Dobe” a voice making Naruto’s heart skip a few beats and sending down a small chill down his back.
