War and Regret

A/N: Sorry that this chapter is so late in comming, but my life is rather hetic right now, as my aunt had died and we had to go to the funeral, and now we are preparing for my mom to go through surgery. Not to mention that I also had to write this chapter at least four times, and Im still not completely satisfied, but it will have to do. Hope you like.


Chapter 3- New home and reasons

It was a bright sunny day, and two travelers who were walking side by side. The taller of the two had his arm around the other as they travaled. When Kyuubi had first wrapped his arm around his waist a few days into their travel Naruto had shied away, not used to phsyical contact, but Kyuubi was presistant. It hadnt taken Naruto long to get used to Kyuubi's need to touch and had even came to enjoy being held all the time.

It wasnt till the sun was setting at the end of their third week of traveling that they had made it to their destionation. Cresting the mountian Naruto looked down and gasped. There sitting in a valley surrounded by mountians was a small village of maybe forty different huts. All the houses were atleast two stories tall, and they were all place about an acre apart, and they were all set near the small lake that formed towards one side of the valley, trees randomally grew all over as well completing the image of perfection.

The lake was fed from a waterfall that started about half way up one of the cliffs, and fell at least fifty feet. The lake itself emptied into a small stream that led to the other end of the village and disappeared into the mountian side no doubt droping into another waterfall where it went after that.

"Well," Kyuubi darwled with amsument as he watched Naruto gap, "What do you think? Is it sutible enough?" He asked, though he already knew the answer.

"You..You mean...This is where we're going to live?" He asked in astonishment.

Smirking Kyuubi moved up behind the youger man and put his arms around his waist, and moved his mouth near his ear, "Yes, that house to be exact." He murmured as he causally pointed at the biggest house closest to the water fall. Naruto once more stood in shock unable to belive it, he was going to live here. In a place as close to paradise as any place on earth can get. "Welcome, Naruto, to my village." He said and began walking down the path to the village dragging a stunned Naruto with him.

Later that night Naruto and Kyuubi sat in the livingroom of Kyuubi's home talking. The greating of the other villagers had beed estactic as they all happily greated Kyuubi and lovingly welcomed Naruto into their home. What had surprised Naruto most about the nice villagers was that they were all demons. He had thought that demons were supposed to be scary, of course he had heard all this from the same village that treated him like crap, but he was actuall happy, if a little uncomfortable with the attention, but happy all the same.

Looking at Kyuubi he decided to let his curiosity to get the better of him, "Hey Kyuubi?" He called durning on of their comfortable silences.

Kyuubi hummed as he looked away from the fire directing his gaze to Naruto.

"Why did you, um, attack Konoha?" He asked before blushing and looking away and muttering a quick apology.

Kyuubi studied the other man for a while before replying. "Several of the shinobi in Konoha had attacked a small family that used to live here. They had decided to take their kittens to visit the fathers family in another village. A few days after they were dew to arrive in the other village I recived a note asking if I would see if I could find out where they were, because the family was starting to worry and could not get in touch with them.'

"I left here in search of them, and found them, dead two miles outside of Konoha, not even the five small kittens had been spared. I sent a note to the family informing them of what had come to pass along with the bodies, all carried by my most loyal friends." He paused looking at Naruto with sad, but angery, eyes, and with hate tainting his tone he continued, "I was quickly consumed with rage and without a second though I attacked the village. Though now that I think about it I would have been no better than the shinobi, because I was willing to kill them all, the childern includded," He paused again with a tired sigh.

"But when the fourth hokage brough you before me, nothing but a small barely born baby, I froze and realized what I had done, but it was already too late. Your father used my momentary shock to his advantage and swiftly sealed me into you." He finished with a shrug and looked back a Naruto to see him sitting there with tears in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry Kyuu." The boy said as he through himself across the small distance between them and wrapped his arms around Kyuubi's neck burring his face into the demons chest. "It was wrong for the shinobi to do that to that family, I'm so sorry, you wouldnt have been sealed if it werent for them. I'm so so sorry." He sobed.

Kyuubi sat stunned for a moment. How can someone like Naruto, who had the worst past, still be able to think about others before himself?

Finally common sence kicked in and he started trying to sooth the distrought boy. After what seemed like hours the younger male had cried himself to sleep, with Kyuubi rubbing circles on his back, and wispering little nothings in his ear.

Picking the blond up bridle style he carried him up the stairs and laid him in bed. The only problem was however, that the boy refused to let go of Kyuubi's neck, and being tired himself, that great demon gave up and simply laid down with him and went to sleep.
