Chapter 3: running away:
“Talk”
´Thoughts´
¤Kyuubi talking¤
Naruto stared at the grass at his feet, his tears running freely down the whiskered cheeks and everything in his mind screamed in confusion and then reality struck him like a hammer.
“He doesn’t love me……Sasuke…doesn’t… love…me…He doesn’t even like me as a friend…He…hates…me!”
Naruto had felt love for the proud Uchiha since the day, that Sasuke had sacrificed himself for Naruto in the fight against Haku at the Wave. He had somehow convinced himself that Sasuke had felt something for him as well, because he had been willing to give his life to save his without hesitation.
Sasuke had accepted to return to Konaha, together with Naruto, after they had defeated Itachi with combined forces. Naruto had done all in his power to convince Tsunade baa-chan and the council that Sasuke was on their side and that he should be allowed to return to Konoha.
He had felt so happy, even though Sasuke had not been allowed to join the ranks of the ANBU or take mission above B rank for the next two years. Sasuke was finally back home… and two years probation was nothing if you hold it up against the five years that Sasuke was a missing nin.
“What do I do now… he’ll never want me to go near him again?”
The blonde sobbed sadly, letting the tears run freely without even trying to wipe them away even though his eyes stung like hell; he felt how his heart was breaking apart painfully slow as he replayed Sasuke´s cruel words again and again in his mind:
“Monster! freak! You are disgusting. Don’t ever come near me again, EVER!”
His tear-filled blue-eyes widened in sudden realization. “I can’t stay here anymore, I just can´t!!”
The blonde quickly rose to his feet, wiped the tears away from his whiskered cheeks and reminded himself, that tears were a sign of weakness and he wasn’t going to be weak anymore; especially not in front of Uchiha Sasuke or his kind.
He jumped the rooftops all the way back to his apartment; to avoid to be seen by anyone in his current state. The villagers would have enjoyed seeing like this, as they had the same opinion of him as the Uchiha did; they hated him and were only happy once they had been able to hurt him again. Naruto moved as fast as his legs would allow it, flinging his front door open, only to rush inside before slamming it into the frame.
Letting his body slide down the door and hid his face in his hands.
“What do I do now?” He muttered to himself. Sitting in the darkness for a few minutes, trying to calm down a bit to be able to think; focusing his mind.
´I really thought that you were special, teme. I thought you were different from those who get their kicks from hurting me… but you are just like they are… and it breaks my heart.`
´I need to get far away from here, and I have to make sure that they wont come after me; hunting me down like a mad dog. Baa-chan will never allow me to leave without a good explanation……I need to come up with a good reason to leave.` He told himself while packing his few belongings into his backpack.
¤ Use me as an excuse, kit!¤ A familiar voice growled inside his head.
´No, I can´t do that to you, Kyuubi. You have always been my friend… and it would be wrong to use you as an excuse to leave… besides… Baa-chan would insist on us staying here to check the seal…She wouldn´t let me go!` The blonde told the demon fox.
¤ Then tell her that you need some time to train on your own… to be able to control my chakra better… just like the time we traveled the world with that perverted Jiraiya.¤
´That´s it… are you sure you won´t mind, that I use you as an excuse like this?`
¤ I´m fine, kit. I can feel your pain and would love to tear that bastard to shreds… but I know that you still like him to much for that just yet… We are better of alone right now, so feel free to use whatever is necessary to get away from here!¤ The fox stated. Kyuubi loved Naruto as a son and would endure and do anything to make the kit’s life easier in any way.
As he stood in front of the door… ready to leave for good, he turned around; looking back one last time at his now former home before leaving. He decided to jump the rooftops as he made his way towards the Hokage tower to see Tsunade baa-chan.
At the Hokage tower:
“Baa-chan, do you have a sec?” Naruto asked as he knocked at her office door.
“Enter!” She called. “You better have a good reason for bugging me this late, gaki!”.
She starred at the blonde´s eyes that radiated pain and resolve. Her golden eyes soon detected the backpack that was slung casually around his strong shoulder.
“What is going on?” She asked as she rose a brow. She didn´t like that look in his eyes; he looked far to serious and grown-up for someone who usually had a cheerful smile on his handsome face.
“… Baa-chan, I have a favor to ask!”
You’re leaving kid?” She asked as she realized what Naruto had in mind. She was surprised but still relieved that he had decided to come and see her instead of running off like a certain Uchiha did, before she had become the Hokage.
“Yes I have to…it’s the Kyuubi… I need a different kind of training to keep him a bay!”
